  • Just built a LS3 stroker with Texas Speed and Performance stage 3 LS3 cam and PRC heads. Once the engine get some street break in I will hit the rollers!

    Wow. Lot of work. Well worth it. I just picked up a 2011 2ss 6 speed. Wanting to do top end or cam it. Been doing lots of research. Was stuck between the trick flow kit, gpi, lingenfelter. Thinking I might go with Texas speed stage 2 cam and 255 prc heads.

      That cam and those heads should yield 470-490 rwhp depending on tune and what brand dyno you use. Honestly those heads are a bit much for that cam with a stock bottom end. Tsp offers porting of your stock heads i would do that and save the extra money for headers and cai.

    When I bought car it already has long tube headers, high flow cats, no mufflers. Cai. Perfect platform to start off with. I want some more power but don't want to lose drive ability. That's y I was thinking stage 2 . I'm just not to fond on the head part. I know ls3 heads are pretty advanced compared to previous ls models. Wasn't sure on send them out to get ported or get new heads.

      To be honest unless ypu are chasing a number i would go cam only. Once you pull the heads you open a can of worms. Bigger throttle body, ported intake, etc. Cam only cars put good numbers down and heads will only give you about 40-50 more hp.

      Also while replacing the cam do the ls2 tensioner conversion and get rid of the junky ls3 tensioner.

      First I've heard about switching out the tensioner. Il look into it. Does the stock intake fit the prc heads? I'm thinking of doing the heads because I know it's never going to end and rather do it all at once. Especially if I have to update the valvetrain for the cam I pick. My brother has 05 gto procharged pushing 600 at wheels and a family friend has a hellcat so I'm definitely going to be chasing for more power as I get used to it.

      Ls3 tensioner is a piece of crap. If you are pulling the heads definitely replace the lifters too. And get rid of the lifter trays with connected lifters. Comp makes good ones. Also since you are running a smaller cam use some cometic head gaskets to raise the compression that will help a lot!

    Wow that much power? Is it stock block and internals? Any other power adders? How's the driveability?

      Wiseco +5cc dome pistons
      Ported intake and throttle body
      Twin disc clutch
      Drives like a "Race Car"... has some bucking at low rpm but will drive better once i get a dyno tune. Im on a mail order tune now.

    Noticeable power increase? What heads did you go with? 255 or 260 cc. I'm looking into same setup. What did it put down for power?

      Brian Clayman 260cc heads i havent put it on the rollers yet so no word on numbers. I have only put 20 miles on it since the build no wide open throttle yet but a huge difference in power. I expect to put 590-610 to the tires on the dyno.
