Mini Braid Protective Style on Natural Hair

- -Mini braids are my all time favorite hairstyle to do on my natural hair and one of the best protective styles for hair growth. I am sharing a how to video on mini braids which is easy to do. In this tutorial, I started off on freshly washed, blow dried hair, and then I started styling. These braids are great for locking the moisture in your hair, allowing the hair grow because your hair is protected from breakage and banded together. It is also long lasting. I wear this natural hair style for one to two months. Even when I take the braids out, my hair still feels like day one when I applied my products, super soft! It makes a great braid out too.

Hi! My name is Cree. I have been on my natural hair journey for almost 10.5 years. I started on July 15, 2010 and never looked back. I wanted to share my journey on natural hair growth while sharing some techniques and styles that can help the next person on their journey. Some of my other interest are make up, fashion and living a healthy lifestyle so maybe I will share videos about this too! Some other interesting facts about me is that I lived abroad in Europe for a few years and got a masters degree in the environmental field. Overall, I am just a silly down to earth person!

I’ve had this same hair style for a year now. I get it redone every month. I wash my hair once a month when it’s time to get my hair redone. 👍🏾
Thats whats up! Its so good! Honestly if I could .....I would do the same style for the rest of the year but Im sure you guys would get bored watching me do the same thing. These braids are the best though! 😄❤️
@@Creeative91 this is why I can't do TH-cam, it would set me back if I had to keep finding styles to do for viewers (my hair is very fine), I think only thick haired people survive with their hair intact.
DaisiesandPandas . Maybe do protective styles and find ways to style them instead of taking them down and doing something else. Like this style can go in ponytails, half up half down, add jewelry etc etc. braid your hair down and wear different wigs but keep your braids underneath. The money on TH-cam these days is good and easy to market idk .
This Is my first time bumping into your video. Girl that length and thickness is GOALS!!! I had to subscribe 😍😍😍
Awww thank you so much luv!!❤️❤️❤️
Loved how you showed your hair over time at the end💙
thank you luv! I appreciate it! ❤️❤️❤️
I love the beads! Yas! I love that the black community is pushing back into our beads. I'm literally watching your video while putting beads on my braids. You look fantastic!
Your hair is really nice and i love your parting, it's neat
Best video on mini braids hands down. New mini braider here and your detailed instruction was so helpful. I almost feel inspired to redo my hair right (at midnight). Merci Beaucoup! New subbie!

Drop dead gorg, thx for telling us the braids grow your hair. With synthetic hair, I'm not a comfortable. I'll try your method on my natural hair. You're deets were straight to the 👉🏽👈👇🏾point😁🤍🌟

Wow, good job as African-American women we are now enjoying our beautiful natural hair.
Amazing video! I loved how you turned around and showed it at all angles (esp near the crown area people barely show that). I'm going to do this style after I wash my hair this week so this came at the perfect time ❤ Thanks and you have beautiful hair lol
Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you so much! ❤️❤️❤️

Omg can't wait til I get some length length coming up on my 3rd year in July
oh wow so you been natural for a while. Thats really nice! And Im sure you will hair will be long too! 😊💕💕
@@Creeative91 aw so sweet thanks I'm just so proud to have hung in there this long im still learning but I wanna to see all the benefits to being natural.
@@EverybodyLovesJess Yeah thats good because most people don't stick to it. So yeah just keep hanging in there and the length will come!
update?
A blk girl in beads can never be wrong!! 🤌🤌🔥🔥
Girrrrrrrrllllll I wish I had the patience to do thissssss🥺
Haha! I understand. It does take a while but I enjoy the time I’m nurturing my hair and plus I don’t have to think about my hair for weeks so it’s like putting in the work on the front end so you can relax the rest of the month! Thanks for watching love! 💕💕
Your hair came out beautiful! Do you wash your braids or just cleanse your scalp during your protective style?
Thank you love! ❤️❤️ And no I usually don't wash in between. I dont want my hair to get tangled in the braids or dry out.
@@Creeative91 Thank you for responding. Thanks for the info....
Just discovering your channel. This was very detailed from the detangling to the pre-parted and twisted sections. New subbie here.
Thank you love for the feedback and welcome to the fam! 😊❤
Love it with the beads on it.
awww thank you so much!
i applaud you i can braid but not myy head loll great video
I loved doing plaits and twists on my natural hair. I had tried retaining length for so long but this was the only style that helped me grow my hair down to my tailbone. I do need to work on parting my hair though. How do you keep the parts maintained?
How long do you keep this hair style?
Underbraiding technique is very interesting
I always tend to braid overhand. Braiding under takes too long and I cannot get them as taught as I want to braiding that way
@@kianamoore5390 yes I always over braid. I’m gonna try under braiding. Fingers crossed
The underbraiding keeps my hair flat at the root. When I over braid it tends to leave a slight bump or raise at the top of the braid and it doesn’t lay how I want. 😄
@@Creeative91 I’ve heard people who braid say that. I think I’m just used to braiding overhand for so many years 😂
Hey girl lookin so pretty love your hair always have.
awww thank you girl! 🥰🥰
Beautiful job 👏 you truly made mini braids look gorgeous! I have had a hard time finding beads to fit on mini braids! Where did you get urs from and what is the size?
Hello lovely braids,
Question if you don’t wash it in between, don’t the hair get dirty in 1 week already? How do u maintain a clean scalp in that time?
Or can you make a video about the between process? And how do I avoid freeze? So many questions 🙈
Looking forward for your answer 🤍
My hair stays looking really fresh up two weeks. I dont usually apply product directly to my scalp to avoid build up and itchiness....Of course a little bit of product may get on my scalp when I apply it to the hair but I try to limit it. This helps to prolong the style and prevent extra dirt and oil that accumulates on my scalp. At the two week mark I just refresh the edges by rebraiding a few braids. Thats about it. If I need moisture I spray the hair with light water and then apply a leave-in and oil but most times I try to avoid that because the more you add things to your hair after you style it, the more build up you create and frizz. Maybe I will make a more detailed video explaining what I do with my braids. Thanks for the feedback. And let me know If you have more questions. 😊😊❤️
@@Creeative91 yess video please🤩🤩 Would also loveee tonsee your blow dryimg process
Gorgeous
Thank you love! 🩷🩷🩷
You should try rope twists next? Would you say your hair is thick or medium or light density?
I have a high/thick density hair 🙂. And ohh okay. You mean with extensions or rope twist on natural hair?
She braided her hair and they were thick and her scalp wasn't showing, just from the thumbnail I knew she had high density and coarse (thick) strands. Cos high density and fine strands also condenses into thin braids. Some people are highly blessed 😭
These look so nice!
thanks so much! 💕💕

Thank you for your support ! 😊💖
how can i leave my braids that long. i have to colour every 3weeks.plseyour help is usefull.
Well either you could stretch your color treatments while you are wearing the braids or Idk if this is for grey hair or not but I know there are several dye shampoos on the market some plant based that people are washing their hair with that can color their roots. I saw a video with a lady with dreads using it and it worked to color her greys. There maybe other colors besides black too. I would have to look up the brands. I haven’t tried it yet myself tho.
@@Creeative91 thank u for your time to answer. i colour to cover grey hair. i wil try to find that video.bye my dear
I underbraid too! Unless I'm planning on holding my hair up the whole time.
Yeah underbraiding is the best especially when doing box braids. When i did it the over braiding way my braids were sticking up all over the place lol. 😆
How long did install take? How was the takedown ?
Install was about 8 hours and take down around the same but with several breaks.
You're so pretty :).
so sweet! thank you love! ❤️❤️❤️
Do you wash or remoisturize your hair while in the braids? If so do you get a lot of tangles?
No I don't wash and remoisturize while wearing them. I apply enough leave-in and oils while styling so when its time to take it down my hair feels super soft. The braids pretty much lock in the moisture for the whole month. 😊
@@Creeative91 thank you! I’m 9 days into my mini braid journey and I was curious about that. Appreciate this so much ^_^
@@Creeative91 congrats on your wedding btw. Mines was just before the pandemic. All the best 😃
@@yamali4987 ooh thats great! how do like the mini braids so far? 😊
@@yamali4987 Awww thank you so much!! and Congratulations to you luv! 💕💕
Beautiful 😍😍😍😍 do you wash or moisturize your hair at any time during the month of wearing these mini braids?
Yes occasionally I do If my hair feels dry. I would just put some water in the spray bottle and spritz my hair until its damp then apply a little leave in, oil and cream. But most of the time i apply enough product when Im styling so it locks in the moisture so I don't have to re-moisturize mid month.
Not he walked and was shocked 😮 😂😂😂
Bomb
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Are you ends naturally thin or do they need a trim?
As hair grows longer they naturally taper at the ends from wear and tear. So yeah i needed a good trim. its been many years. Recently I have been slowly cutting off those ends ( 1-2 inches every couple of months) until I can get to my desired thickness and length.
What oil do u have on the tub
New subbie! 😍😍😍
Thank you luv!! I appreciate the support! ❤❤🤗
How long it takes to do this Cree
It takes me around 8 hours or so. I do the back half one day and the front of my hair the next.
@@Creeative91 whew girl and I'm wishing on that type of length they say be careful what you ask for
@@EverybodyLovesJess Yeah it is a lot of work but I think its worth it!
New subbiee😍
Awww thank you love! ❤️❤️❤️
How do you unbread these though they’re so small
There are even smaller styles on youtube, like this was my idea of minis till I saw minis, then I saw micros, 😅 I'm assuming these will take some hours to take out, but the minis and micros, I heard people say a few hours over a week or two weeks to take it out, but they were it long term, 2-3 months.
I use my nails to help take down the ends. Once i get a few inches up the braid its moves pretty quickly. I I devote a day to taking them down maybe it takes around 6-7 hours or so.
Beautiful 🖤
I appreciate it. Thank you! 😊❤️❤️
How long do u get to keep these in for
I wear them for around a month like 4- 7 weeks.
❤❤
thank you!❤️❤️❤️
My thin hair could never😩
ooh noo! im sorry. the braids may work for you because I noticed over time as i wore them my hair started getting thicker and longer because it helped to seal in moisture and protect my hair from breakage. My hair didn't always look this way but over time I did see progress and growth. ❤️
song please?? 😍😍😍
Lockdown by Anderson.Paak
I don't think I would finish braiding if I held hair the way you hold yours...that looks hard to me
🤣🤣🤣 Over time my arms got stronger so it doesn't really bother me.
Can you please do a video on how you moisturize your hair daily with this style? And the takedown process!! Because I have 4b/4c hair & I’d love to do this style, but I’m afraid it’ll get tangled during the takedown process! Or dread up! Lol 🤣♥️
Yes luv I will work on it! I usually don't remoisturize after I braid it up, only when I redo my edges to freshen up my hair I will add leave-in and oils... but only to those few braids . I try to apply enough product while styling. This leaves the braids moisturized even when I take them down my hair is still soft.
You have nothing to worry about. I have 4c hair also. As long as it's detangled before you install it, you won't have to worry much about it tangling.
I literally tried to start a braided loc, but took it down about 8 months later, and it was almost as easy to take down as a braid that hadn't stayed that long.
I would recommend you be gentle with the take down process though. Ensure you start from the very ends and then gradually work your way up to avoid tangles.
@@faithbankole4851 Thanks! 😄♥️

You see a black women with long hair teaching about styling and the first thing you want to do is yell at her to cut her hair. Very telling
