    Ooh! I think I’ll do the idea of making it the barrier/base coat then using a peel off base on top to easily change colors. Do you have suggestions on doing fills with this? Would it work for me to do 2 or 3 fills before removing the whole thing? Do you have any vids of fills with this rubber base?

    • @GelsNGemsNails
      @GelsNGemsNails  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can definitely do fills with this

    Thanks so much for such a thorough set of comments: I’m a DIY newbie who only started with gel over the chicken panini. Haven’t tried MG yet but know I want strength for natural nails so understanding the considerations between rubber base and builders is so helpful!

    Wow! I love everything I've learned from watching this. I would like to know what glitter that is. It's gorgeous on top! Also, when you were rubbing the glitter off with whatever brush that was, did you do that after curing it with the base coat under it? I'm just learning to doing my own nails.

  • @barose1

    Thank you for the Q & A, that is very helpful. I have a question: when using builder gel or rubberized bases, can we use manual sanders (files) instead of electronic ones, or do we need electronic ones like the one you’re using?

    • @GelsNGemsNails
      @GelsNGemsNails  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope. You can absolutely use just a hand file.

    Hi sorry for asking, bur i want to use rubber base as base for gel polish. Do i have to make the second, thicker layer, or the one thin layer is enough before putting the first layer of colour? Thank you for your answer.

    • @GelsNGemsNails
      @GelsNGemsNails  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can use it just as a base and use one thin layer then go in with your color but if you need a little added strength to your nails then you can do a thicker layer. It's up to you.

      I suppose you could. Just keep in mind that the rubber base is a good bit thicker than a regular one and may leave your nails to be very thick as well

    Is builder gel more sturdy or can the rubber base when built up be just as strong but more flexible?

    • @GelsNGemsNails
      @GelsNGemsNails  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Builder gel is definitely going to be stronger, it's made for building out the nail length. This is more for a short natural nail overlay.

    What is the glitter being used?? Is it just plain cosmetic glitter? Or something specially for gel application?

    • @GelsNGemsNails
      @GelsNGemsNails  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This one is from MagPie and it is made for nails. I love their glitter so much, it is so pretty. I have found some cosmetic glitters can bleed the color when mixed in gel and these definitely do not do that.

    I looked on the future video, but couldn’t find it. I’m curious how long the rubber base lasted without lifting! I have it and have used it before, but I think I need to do better prep with my cuticles because after 1 week it is already lifting! My regular base from madam glam lasts longer than this one!

    Do you have to put another base coat for gel polish or you can get straight to it ?

    • @GelsNGemsNails
      @GelsNGemsNails  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are on the natural nail, yes, base coat. It you are going over an enhancement such as luminary, builder gel, or acrylic then no, you don't need base coat.

  • @Emmaly717

    what is the correct curing time for rubber base? I got MG recently and had problems with wet gel inside.

    • @GelsNGemsNails
      @GelsNGemsNails  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      60 seconds. If I do a thicker layer I'll do 2 mins. Also make sure you lamp is sufficient for the product

    After filing down any imperfections on either the rubber or builder gel, do you have to reapply the base coat? Or just move on to color?

    • @katelynstokes8087
      @katelynstokes8087 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Whoops- just saw that you put a base on after filing hah! Never mind :)

    • @GelsNGemsNails
      @GelsNGemsNails  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You do not need a base over the filed product, just move straight to color.

    • @GelsNGemsNails
      @GelsNGemsNails  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The reason for the base after filing, in this case, is for the glitter to stick. No need for base if just adding color.

  • @tarapreston4143

    You would still use this as a base under builder, right? I just got my rubber base gel today and am debating how I want to do my next fill. Second question: I have been wearing the same 'set' since.....November. I just keep doing fill ins. First it was with polygel, and that has grown out and now it is simply builder gel. Someone said in a comment on a random video I was watching that you shouldn't do that more than 3 times before you remove everything and start over. Is it okay that I just keep filling in? I use thin layers and nothing looks damaged or gross under the nail. Thanks Ginger! Love the glitter and little Swatch

    • @GelsNGemsNails
      @GelsNGemsNails  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can use it as you base for your builder gel, keep in mind it will add more thickness that way. You can also just use it to do your fill in and skip the builder all together. As far as soaking off, you really don't need to do that unless you have a problem such as lifting. My most common issue is product separation from the free edge and most if the time it's so minimal that it's taken care of when I shorten my nails. But no, as long as you don't have any lifting there is no need to remove the product.

      @@GelsNGemsNails Awesome. Thank you for the reply. I think I will try the rubber base as a fill in next time. I don't let my nails get super long so I think it will be fine. I'm looking forward to trying it :)
