"you can't escape mediocrity without a little radical innovation" is such a true statement, back then and now. I LOVED this video, and all of the amazing points you made and historical facts you shared! I am eagerly looking forward to the coming videos, ESPECIALLY the ones on Atlantis & Treasure Planet. you do a really good job of handling the discussion of these movies more like a documentary than an opinion, and I respect that. looking forward to the next one!

As someone born in 1998 I am excited to see more video essay about this era of disney moovie that I grew up with. With that said I didnt saw all of them at time of release and I was much more a fan of Pixar movies. I remember liking the original Fantasia more than 2000. Like The Sorcerer's Apprentice is better than the Donald Duck's Arc. And I really like the Dinossaur one in the original, like its not just Dinossaurs is the whole history of planet earth until that point. But great video!

Back in the day, my brother and I paid 50 cents a piece to see The Sound of Music. That $10 price tag on Fantasia would have been beyond our comprehension! Informative and interesting video, Lauren. I look forward to seeing more from you! (And thanks for taking us live to Mt. St. Helens. Yes, I was in college when she blew her top.) ~ Cathy B.

Great video! Fantasia 2000 deserves so much more love. I'd love to see Disney do a Fantasia 3, maybe reviving the Musicana concept of using music from all over the world rather than just European music.

Another excellent video! Even having never seen Fantasia 2000, I found this really interesting. And I'm looking forward to future videos on this era, especially on The Emperors New Groove, still one of my favorite Disney films (and as a 'geriatric Millenial' not even because of childhood nostalgia).

Enjoyed the heck out of this! Even though I LOVE (and periodically rewatch) the original. Love the perspective on animation, and reminds me that I took a class on animation at TESC. Go, Geoducks!

I think the problem with Fantasia 2000 is that they centered too much of the pieces around characters and slapstick. The original Fantasia had this elevation feeling that I found lacking in 2000 and wasn't that innovative, unlike the original.
(I mean, they call Beethoven's 5th "abstraction" when they tell a story about a butterfly unlike "Tocatta and fugue")

Look, everyone have their opinions in basically every media, but sorry... I know you're joking but your opinion is NOT correct. I think you should watch the review of the original Fantasia from the channel "There Will Be Fudd". His analisis is AMAZING.
Just to say that the "Pomp and Circustance" segment is my favorite.
