@@Chaogardenx I normally agree that people should support the actual creators since buying knockoffs means you're "taking money" away from them. But in cases like this when the dress costs 500 dollars, can you really blame people for buying the knock off? I mean if you hink about it, the actual designers aren't actually losing any money on this. Anyone who can't afford the 500$ price tag would never even leave their money at this designer anyway. And yes, in general I know that buying fast fashion is unethical(everyone knows this), but alot of people just don't have any choice because of economy. @@MaddieLynn actually the designer herself is albanian and all her designs are handmade (strawberries too), also she has help from a lot of Albanian women in Albania and Kosovo and ofc she pays them good. After all its 'handmade'!!! I think the reason of it being expensive is because she has to pay the women in Kosovo/Albania, the cost of shipping from our countries which are higher than other countries, the cost per materials... so it makes sense that her designs are expensive! Btw amazing recreation but remember that the price isn't everything that you should see!!! Peace!
this is literally perfect!!! ive always wanted to make my own sleeveless version of the strawberry dress but I dont have a sewing machine and material can be expensive...
In the case you really can't afford a sewing machine you can always hand sew. Like in the good old days. There's a couple TH-cam channels (mostly aimed towards historical fashion) that still do hand stitching. Later on you can then try and buy a machine off of Craigslist

I know how to sew, use a sewing machine and quilt but I've never worked with patterns or clothing. But my grandmother's and mom do.
If you can sew a straight(ish) line using a sewing machine then you have a great foundation to sew garments. I started sewing a year ago, with no lessons, and have learned as I go. I just finished making my latest spring makes (I live in NZ): a lined bomber jacket, a pair of linen pants, and a pleated kilt-style skirt. Just buy a simple pattern and some inexpensive fabric and experiment!

i can't tell you how many times i've watched this tutorial. im making my own strawberry dress as a part of my halloween costume (i'm summer of the four seasons) and this along with withwendys video have been incredibly helpful, telling me how much fabric to buy, to just working with tulle and the actual construction of the dress! i'm a new subscriber and i just want to say thank you for this video!!
Wow I loved how you made it, it's so amazing. I want to study fashion design because it's so nice how you can use your imagination and your abilities. Greetings from Mexico! 🇲🇽
Beautiful! Though my love of vintage demands that if I made it as well, I would have to do either a full or double circle skirt and wear a petticoat underneath it for maximum floof and twirliness
I hope that this video helps people realize why things cost the amount they do. The dress that inspired this recreation retails for $490, and after watching all the days of hard work that went into you making your version, it puts into perspective the value behind the garments. Great result, Madison!
thank you for making this video, i actually learned quite a bit :) i'm just learning to sew so i hope one day i can get to the point where i can just *know* what to do when i want to make something :/
Making my own clothes from scratch has made me realize how hard, time consuming, and EXPENSIVE this hobby is 😅 The dress looks incredible but pricing out the fabric and the labor needed to make this dress... and it's cheaper and easier to buy the designer original 😬
This looks amazing, and it’s really helpful, as I’m considering making a similar dress, just with a different sequin tulle to fit my aesthetic better. Any idea how much of your two lining fabrics you used?
Thanks for watching! So happy to hear you are thinking of making a similar dress🙌🏻 As for the lining fabrics, for the bodice I used two different fabrics and used about half a yard of each and for the skirt lining, since it was a circle skirt I think I used 2.5 yards?
This came out stunning! I appreciate that you named the designer in the title and gave credit to her where credit is due, as a long time fan of hers I've felt super protective over her brand during this time.
That means a lot that you acknowledged I gave her credit. I love her as a designer and would never claim a designers design as my own. I actually filmed a whole video about fashion copyright specifically because of this project :) Thanks for watching
Jocelyne cupcake There’s ways to get cheap fabric! Check out Micarah Tewers, she uses tablecloths, curtains etc. There’s sites like cheapfabric.com that sell fabric for no more than 2.40 per metre, and then there’s scrap you can find in charity shops. If you’re American, I think Joann’s sells affordable fabric as well. Hope that helped!
I had a photo of a Louisa Beccaria runway dress and I made one almost like it from 2 thrifted men’s white shirts and a white babydoll dress I had that had a hole in it and purchased lace. It turned out fantastic and cost me $45 as compared to several thousand!
ok i have to give you a shout out THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH for showing the inside of your garment NO1 does this and it drives me NUTS! it looks beautiful really an amazing job
I'm obsessed with this dress, but I'm from NZ so with the dollar it makes it a pretty expensive purchase. I plan on paying someone to make something similar. This video is amazing and you really did this dress justice. Awesome skills girl and the dress really suits you :) xx
@@lvialviaquez9146 Thank you but I'd rather pay someone I know to make a similar style dress. I don't really like supporting websites that take from designers plus you don't know if they're ethically made. :)
This came out so gorgeous! I really want to make a mini version for my American Girl Dolls:) So if you have any of the plain pink tulle or lining left over to donate or I could buy... 😂😂
Honestly it was way easier than I though. My philosophy is that no matter how new to sewing you are, if you can learn as you go and find videos to teach you what you need, I truly believe anyone is capable of making this. It didn’t have any crazy technical sewing, so if you can gather, add a zipper, work with lining, and sew darts I think you can nail this dress🙌🏻
Madison McQuary I love your positive attitude about who can make this dress. It’s like eating an elephant; you just have to start and take it one bite at a time.
Hello! This is so fun! Thank you for sharing. I also really love your background music choice for while you are cutting/working. It’s really lovely. I recently realized that I like working along with someone doing a video like this, even if we are making different things. It makes the current times less lonely. Your tone of voice & music choice make this so nice to work along with. Thank you for sharing!
Eurika: I agree with you 100%. Every TH-camr (that I've watched) will always have a photo of the original designer dress they are recreating. (unless there is some sort of copyright infringement.)
Given the cost of material and how much effort goes into sewing the dress I’m surprised the original strawberry dress doesn’t sell for MORE than $490!

Wow good job! It looks beautiful on you, compliments your hair and skin
Thanks love💕
A girl at my school said she’s thinking about wearing this dress for graduation😍
Ooh...that would be the most fabulous GRAD dress🙌🏻
What are your school colors?
Serena gold and maroon!
This reminds me of th-cam.com/video/eFYe4K-XG1M/w-d-xo.html
You are amazing. In fact this dress looks better than the original. Absolutely stunning.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for replying, That made my day.
I would love to see a vid with more detail about the circle skirt
Planning on making one sometime so stay tuned☺️
First time to your channel and I was mesmerised watching you sew this! It turned out beautifully. Can’t wait to watch more.
Awe, that makes me so happy Kailey! Thank you so much for watching
This dress is amazing! I graduated on fashion design school so I know how hard is to sew something like this! You just influenced me to start sewing my own clothing again
Oh my gosh, this makes me so happy! You should totally start sewing again:)
i can't tell you how many times i've watched this tutorial. im making my own strawberry dress as a part of my halloween costume (i'm summer of the four seasons) and this along with withwendys video have been incredibly helpful, telling me how much fabric to buy, to just working with tulle and the actual construction of the dress! i'm a new subscriber and i just want to say thank you for this video!!
Oh wow...I’m so honored! That costume sounds like a literal dream and I’m so glad my project could help guide yours :)
It looks SO GOOD on you too! Your hair is perfect.
Your so sweet:) Thanks for watching!
That dress is totes adorbs, it suits you so well. Just beautiful & fun, love it
Thank you!
Wow I loved how you made it, it's so amazing. I want to study fashion design because it's so nice how you can use your imagination and your abilities. Greetings from Mexico! 🇲🇽
Literally in awe of what you created. You look gorgeous in that dress.
Your so kind! Thanks for watching
Beautiful! Though my love of vintage demands that if I made it as well, I would have to do either a full or double circle skirt and wear a petticoat underneath it for maximum floof and twirliness
Oh absolutely!
Wow, that turned out just beautiful! It's so feminine, and just delightful to look at. Great job, thank you!
Thanks love💕
That dress is GORGEOUS!!!
Thanks love💕
I love this ! I would love it in a blue ! Stunning ! I'm teaching myself to sew and I love watching videos like this .
It would look so pretty in blue too!
Look at you,
strawberry dress
You're so flawless
I like it when you
Spin around
Thanks for watching!
This tone of pink with your ginger hair looks so good ♥️
Awe, thank you💕
This looks absolutely gorgeous!!!! If I find the strawberry fabric here I'm definitely trying thiss! Thankyou for the inspiration!
Thanks for watching! I hope you do try to make it for yourself :)
Your students are extremely lucky to have you as a teacher. Fabulous job.
literally saw a post on Instagram of Marzia wearing that dress, and then youtube recommends me someone doing the exact same dress
Same XD youtube be stalking us
It’s crazy what they know about us! But thanks for watching :)
I hope that this video helps people realize why things cost the amount they do. The dress that inspired this recreation retails for $490, and after watching all the days of hard work that went into you making your version, it puts into perspective the value behind the garments. Great result, Madison!
Thanks for this kind comment, I appreciate others seeing the work that goes into making clothes and appreciating them more :)
thank you for making this video, i actually learned quite a bit :) i'm just learning to sew so i hope one day i can get to the point where i can just *know* what to do when i want to make something :/
You will get there! Just take it one project at a time and know that mistakes are okay :)
Honestly, I would totally try this. It seams(get it?) so easy!!! Great job! Keep it up. God bless.
Always love a good sewing pun! You should totally try it
Making my own clothes from scratch has made me realize how hard, time consuming, and EXPENSIVE this hobby is 😅 The dress looks incredible but pricing out the fabric and the labor needed to make this dress... and it's cheaper and easier to buy the designer original 😬
That’s one thing I love about sewing, is appreciating the time and labor behind our clothes.
@@MaddieLynn too true!
This reminds me of th-cam.com/video/eFYe4K-XG1M/w-d-xo.html
@@rainbownekokitty7022 Nice instrumental piano music to accompany a photo of the dress.
This was the most helpful strawberry dress tutorial I’ve seen yet.
Oh yay! I’m so glad to hear you that. Thank you for watching
Looks sooooo good with red hair!
Agreed!
You are so talented and beautiful!! Wishing you happy occasions wearing your gorgeous dress! Thank you for sharing 😊
Thank you!!
For me, DIY still means $$$ because I have nothing in my house but it's just less $$$
beautiful dress, btw! ^u^ It looks so beautiful on you!
Right fabric is type expensive and she bought alot of it too😰
@@straykae and the materials like the sewing materials... i have a sewing kit but no scissors
Jocelyne cupcake Oh and for scissors, yeah they are expensive but it’s a good investment as they will last for literal years if you treat them right.
@@kitkat1321 I love Micarah tewers! ^u^ yeah I don't have nice table cloths and curtains tho
with your hair this dress looks so beautiful
Awe, thank you💕
@@MaddieLynn no problem!
I mean wow, you've got some skill there. Please keep posting, I believe you deserve a bigger audience!
I had a photo of a Louisa Beccaria runway dress and I made one almost like it from 2 thrifted men’s white shirts and a white babydoll dress I had that had a hole in it and purchased lace. It turned out fantastic and cost me $45 as compared to several thousand!
Love hearing when creators make designs this way! Keep it up :)
THIS IS AMAZING OMG!! I'm literally in love with your remake of it, it looks identical!! also your talent is incredible, this is awesome
Your so sweet! Thank you for watching and supporting :)
So amazing! This is definitely the best 'diy' strawberry dress I've seen so far. You've inspired me to start sewing again!
Such a pretty dress. Suits you so well!
That is an awesome rendition of a designer dress...And without a pattern! Great Job!
I saw this on AliExpress but I didn’t know who the original belongs to, then I saw this! Thanks for recreating
Yes, the AliExpress is actually a knockoff
Yes please don’t buy that 🙏🏻😣
ok i have to give you a shout out THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH for showing the inside of your garment NO1 does this and it drives me NUTS! it looks beautiful really an amazing job
Thank you, that means a lot! Glad to hear you enjoyed it :)
I'm obsessed with this dress, but I'm from NZ so with the dollar it makes it a pretty expensive purchase. I plan on paying someone to make something similar. This video is amazing and you really did this dress justice. Awesome skills girl and the dress really suits you :) xx
Awe, thank you so much Hannah, that means a lot! Hope you get the dress made for you💕
Madison McQuary you’re very welcome! Can’t wait to see some more of your work in the future ☺️ xx
Same, the conversion of the price of this dress here is literally around 45-50x higher which is very expensive.
She did an amazing job, but you can find it on aliexpress for like 50 dls
@@lvialviaquez9146 Thank you but I'd rather pay someone I know to make a similar style dress. I don't really like supporting websites that take from designers plus you don't know if they're ethically made. :)
Georgeous work. It's so beautiful n feminine.
This came out so gorgeous! I really want to make a mini version for my American Girl Dolls:) So if you have any of the plain pink tulle or lining left over to donate or I could buy... 😂😂
Oh that’s so fun! It would look so cute on an American Girl doll. Send me and email & I’ll see what I can do:) (madisonmcquary@hotmail.com)
This is so beautiful. I like the original but yours is phenomenal. I love the how you put you own spin on it by making it modest. ❤❤❤
Thanks for watching!
Besides being tedious, would you consider this difficult skill wise? Could a relatively new sewist do this? Or should one have more experience?
Honestly it was way easier than I though. My philosophy is that no matter how new to sewing you are, if you can learn as you go and find videos to teach you what you need, I truly believe anyone is capable of making this. It didn’t have any crazy technical sewing, so if you can gather, add a zipper, work with lining, and sew darts I think you can nail this dress🙌🏻
Madison McQuary I love your positive attitude about who can make this dress. It’s like eating an elephant; you just have to start and take it one bite at a time.
This reminds me of th-cam.com/video/eFYe4K-XG1M/w-d-xo.html
Woooow!!! This turned out sooo beautifully! And it fits you really really well!
Thanks!
omg the inside of the dress is perfect, i would actually wear the inside as a dress
Your so sweet!
I love that you use wrapping paper for your patterns! I need to do that, have so much wrapping paper in my house.
It’s the best! Especially when it has girds :)
i wish i was THIS talented, that dress is amazing!!! 🥺😍😍
You are fully capable of being this talented (I believe everyone is)! Thanks for your kind words:)
Seriously beautiful - amazing job!
Thanks love!
You looked like Drew Barrymore in the end 🤭 I wish I had that dress..so pretty😍
Awe, that’s such a sweet compliment! Thanks💕
Thank God Lirika Matoshi is getting known all over the world for Fashion ♥️ Proud of You My Lovely Sister from Kosovo 🥰
Thanks for watching and sharing such kind words!
This dress was designed for you. It looks so unbelievably perfect on you!
Oh thank you!
Oh my gosh, this totally made my day! I never thought about sewing videos being like a sewing day with a friend :) Thanks for your sweet comment :)
The strawberry dress makes me wish I wasn't poor 😌 or at least better at sewing
This reminds me of th-cam.com/video/eFYe4K-XG1M/w-d-xo.html
We need more remakes... this was a beauti! Good job!
Don’t worry, more are on their way!
LOVE IT! IT'S GIRLY, ROMANTIC AND FUN! IF I SEE A GIRL WEARING THAT ON THE STREET I WOULD TURN AROUND N ASK HER WHERE SHE GOT IT FROM!
Beautiful!!! So cute and elegant at once.
So in love with this dress, your version is amazing! 😍😭
Awe...thank you so much :)
WOW!!!! IT Came out amazing!
I wish you would've added pictures of what the dress looked like while you were explaining in the beginning.
Eurika: I agree with you 100%. Every TH-camr (that I've watched) will always have a photo of the original designer dress they are recreating. (unless there is some sort of copyright infringement.)
Such a nice and detailed video thnk you for sharing
