I've recently started drawing again after many years.....you are certainly an inspiration and have my highest level of appreciation. Thanks for all that you share....Cheers!!!
Hello smoothie77, that's an amazing drawing. Sorry for my bad english. Your videos are the reason why i bought a lot of drawing stuff and create an acount here to comment your work. I'm at the beginnig to learn drawing but it makes me happy. Thank you for your how to's Videos. They are soooo helpfullto me. Have a nice Christmas.
+Andreas Just Hi Andreas, your English is excellent! its really nice to hear my videos have inspired you to start drawing, its my pleasure to make these videos for everyone , its especially nice to receive comments like yours and to know your finding the demos helpful, I will be making lots more videos in 2016, I hope they inspire you too. I wish you all the best with your drawing and have a great Christmas too.
Love the use of graphite "dust" as you know, and this is beautiful Smoothie, the two little figures have just put the icing on an already beautiful "cake"......Wishing you love , light and happiness for Christmas and 2016, and to thank you for all your work you have put in creating the lovely demos for us in the past year, told you you could do it X
+Maxine Fewster Bless you Maxine, thank you for that, I wish you and your family the same too, its been a real pleasure for me to make these demos for you all, on 31st December it will be one year I have been on YT, I have had a great time, met some lovely people and made some wonderful friends, I've even got my own personal troll ! so I must be doing well :) peace and love to you Maxine X
Cant believe its that long ago that I gave you the "verbal push" to go ahead and let everyone share in your talent , and as for your troll, well just take it as a complement , because if they didn't think you were good at what you do they wouldn't be jealous, and they feed on jealousy....
+Maxine Fewster Yep its one year, I'm surprised you've all put up with me for that long:) regarding the troll...well said Maxine, I couldn't of said it better myself, I'm not phased by it at all, I will keep doing what I enjoy, and that's drawing , painting and making videos and having a blast on YT.
+Dave Usher Thanks for the support and advise Dave, its very much appreciated, why anyone would dislike our free video demos when we put so much time and effort into it is beyond me, I had a wonderful comment a few days ago, it said that they had paid $34 for an art tutorial download and they learnt more from my free demos, that says it all really, how anyone could be ungrateful to any of us that post these free demos, they should learn "the attitude of gratitude " or stopping viewing our videos if they object...
I love how you say 'it's nice and easy'....maybe for you :). I have become inspired by your sketches and I have learned to do cloudy skies and simple trees....my drawing is getting better and it's all thanks to you. I have ordered some, well quite a lot of, art materials...worth it in the long run if I can sketch/draw a fraction of how good you are. Subscribed to your channel.
Wow. This is amazing n I don't usually say that but u can feel the darkness the shadows it's awesome. Well done. Love working with graphite powder. Great tutorial clear n well lit. Perfection.
+RixCanDoit Yeah woodless pencils are very versatile, they are a great bit of kit for the graphite artist, also they last for years! give this technique a try I'm sure with your artistic drawing skill you would do a great job.
+smoothie77 Oh, I'm definitely going to try your technique in a few relaxing 'imagination' drawings. Good stuff. My work is mostly from looking at a reference. Using my imagination is going to push me to expand. Thanks for your comment.
Catching up on all my favourite artists' channels, Smoothie. I especially loved this demo for the beautiful treed landscape. Looking forward to more of your amazing videos in the New Year!
That was an excellent demo Smoothie! It was amazing to see how you've shaped the trees. A wonderful video as usual. I agree with Maxine, the couple walking through the woods is a nice addition ;-)
Great channel. Love your work and style. I wont to be ble to draw nice landscapes and still life. I am just beginning to draw and I am practicing your style on a smaller scale. Just drawing a few different types of tree and objects, and working on my blending and such at the moment. Plus with a bit of experimentation with different types of supplies. For now I want to stay with graphite and a bit of charcoal. Hopefully soon I will be comfortable with creating a larger and complete landscape.
+titan90000 Thanks for your comment, graphite and charcoal are a good medium to learn to draw with, I personally prefer graphite, I feel it gives more options, I hope you find my channel helpful, there are a lot of tips and info for graphite drawing here, I wish you all the best with your drawings.
+smoothie77 I just can't believe I was able to produce something of this quality by following your video. I'm a guy who never really had artistic ability through the years, and now I'm shocking my friends and family with drawings like this. I'm blown away that I'm able to do this - I would never have believed this was possible. Many thanks, my friend.
+Darren Gagliardi Wow thanks Darren, your comment just made my day! its people like you that I post these videos for, it so nice to here that I'm helping and encouraging my viewers, and its even nicer to hear that they are getting good results with their art work, and its comments like yours that encourage me to keep making these demos, thank you!
Super nice as always. It's hard to believe that this was created mainly by removing graphite dust that you had sprinkled on the paper in a random manner. The final touches of tree shadows, hint of a fence and the figures make this one tell a nice story for me. I do have to turn up my volume over 3 times the normal setting to hear you but that's not a big deal. I do appreciate you explaining as you go. In my video editing program I find an option to increase the volume so I bet you have the same. I use Camtasia. Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!
+TheWindGinProject, Thanks, its deceptively easy to do, graphite powder can produce some lovely effect with very little effort involved. I will turn the volume up for the next one, I'm using an external microphone for the voice-overs as apposed to the built in microphone on the camera that I use for real-time videos, I can bring the microphone closer and turn up the volume in windows movie maker, that should do the trick, Thanks for letting me know the volume was sounding low, Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you too!
+smoothie77 Thanks & if you want to keep the Mic as is you should be able to do that and just add more volume during editing. I don't want you to change you way of doing things because of my comment.
+TheWindGinProject Its no problem, I also thought the volume was lower than normal, I think I had the mic a foot further away than usual, I'm fairly sure that's what the problem was, is this the first time you've experienced low volume on my videos? I have had a comment a while ago saying similar, My laptop sounds quite load so I gauge the volume level from that, but I am aware it may not be the same level for others, so I very much appreciate your feedback :)
Hi, I have experienced very low volume in all your videos but I just appreciate you doing the narrating in the first place and it's not a big deal to turn up the volume but I do need to turn it up 3 times more than normal. Thanks
+TheWindGinProject Thanks for letting me know, I will turn the volume level up for the next one, its good to get viewers feedback on these things so I can fix any problems, thanks again.
Truly beautiful work Smoothie! You make it looks so clear and simple! I'm going to try that technique at the beginning with the powder. Keep up the fabulous work :)
+Agui007 Thanks Agui007, I just know you will make a superb job of this one, your drawings are amazing, I hope my viewers go and check out your G+ page and see your wonderful drawings, Wishing you a happy new year!
Trying this one was a useful reminder to me of the difference between a beginner (me) and and an expert (you). I just couldn't get it to work. I think it was the freeform nature of it - I've got quite good at copying your work, but obviously can't manage creativity on my own yet. Then there was the range of pencils. I think I'm using too wide a range in the same drawing - I've got a B and a 4B, but nothing in between. Still it was useful experience - thanks again. I'll lick my wounds and move onto another tutorial.
Hi Steve, don't give up, the graphite powder method is an easy one, may take a few attempts to get the hang of it but once you're used to the way the graphite powders blends and erases etc, its a great way to produce this type of scene, if you're struggling with the freeform nature of it use a pencil to draw out the outline/placement of the trees and path etc before you use graphite powder, you might fade out some of the outlines when blending in the graphite powder but you should still be able to faintly see them enough to use them as guidelines, hope this helps.
Not giving up! Just deciding which one to do next at the moment. I think I've got to get to grips with the freeform side of things though, otherwise I'll spend all my days copying other people's work!
Hey! That is amazing, to be honest I haven´t watched the hole video yet, but I will do so later and I am really looking forward since I bought a glass of graphite powder a couple of weeks ago... Thank you!
+smoothie77 Its truly amazing how you created it without any reference! The negative drawing is also a nice idea because you aren´t really "scared" of a white sheet of paper if you want to draw from imagination. You´ve alreay put something on to the paper and to start seams to be easier if you know what I mean...
+Buntstift Kunst , I know what you mean, its a good technique to get your imagination going, the graphite powder is wonderful to use for this purpose :)
That is cool! I'm so going to try a forest scene like this! I was wondering, .. You did one video where you did some quick sun rays. Could you perhaps do more of an in-depth video on how to handle light? With sun rays and maybe fog? Like a morning sun shining through the trees (with leaves) and what to pay attention to regarding light and shadows? Would love to learn that! Love your tutorials, they're so .. calm and pleasant to watch!
Hi Lona, thanks for the suggestion, thats a great idea, i will make a video about sun rays etc, in the near future, i have got a lot of requests to catch up on and other scenes i what to draw, but will get around to this one, it will make a good subject for a video, thanks for your kind words, happy drawing:)
Do you have a Facebook page? I am a huge fan of your work, and my own art has drastically improved since discovering your page. I have watched all your vides at least once, and would love to see more of your work.
I don't mean to keep blowing up your rear end, but have you ever thought about writing a book, or starting an online course?. You seem to have a very good fan base, and I'm sure you'd do well.
Thanks JC, yes I'm actually working on an eBook at the moment, online course? that's a great idea! I will have to look into that, thanks for the suggestion:)
You are awesome! Thank you for tutorial. Btw I have a question: which brand is that eraser - pencil thing you use in video? I have been searching a lot but I am afraid I have never seen that before in stores :/ It seems really helpful :) Thank you once again!
I hate to tell you, but you need to understand. You start your video and throughout the video you say is just a practice, on how to use graphite shavings, that's really just an exercise really, and that's not a finish drawing, but with all the detail that you add to it it does look like a finish drawing!
I like the way you use graphite to draw landscapes! Thanks for Sharing!
Love and enjoy doing these tutorials!!
I've recently started drawing again after many years.....you are certainly an inspiration and have my highest level of appreciation. Thanks for all that you share....Cheers!!!
You're welcome Mike! thanks for the comment:)

+Larry Nelson Thanks Larry, graphite lends itself well to atmospheric effects, I enjoyed this one, no complicated drawing :)

I can't hear a word you are saying....can you speak a little louder? Your work is lovely...wish I could hear you.
SPEAK UP! Great video but can't understand a thing you are saying becasue the volume is TO LOW. Very frustrating!!!!!
Классно рисуете, только понять бы как вы траву здесь рисуете, все видио перерисовала ваши, а трава не получается
Please speak louder. Thanks
Vključi podnapise ...
I'm sorry to say I can hardly hear you at all.
Yes I agree, The volume was low on this one, later videos have a better sound level.
YES PLEASE SPEAK UP
