Ahhh, the Vault of Glass. Nothing will ever compare to that experience. Getting Fatebringer, Façade of the Hezen Lords (warlock helmet) to reach lvl 30, and the almighty Vex Mythoclast. The raid which made me sell my soul to Destiny. You'll never be forgotten.
I was on patrol and saw a fire team doing the raid and i decided to help them bcuz after they messaged me that their 6th guy left so they invited me and we did the rest of the raid
Honestly, when you really break down Destiny Raids to a science, they really one of the most cinematic experiences in Destiny. There's no story right there in front of you, there is no cutscenes, no tutorial, or any of that. Yet it's still more cinematic and thought bringing. You can make your own story with your own groups. Destiny really needs a guaranteed raid with every DLC. PoE does not pull that in any way, in fact, it does the opposite. I've done the raids hundreds of times, yet I still come back. I've done them even after I have my 3 completions for the week. ( Problem is, not many of my friends want to raid anymore. :/ )
I agree with what you're saying; with multiple accounts I run the raid quite a few times every week, and it's still legitimately fun for me. But... I still hope they really ramp up the amount of cutscenes we get to enjoy in Destiny 2. I would kill for MGS-length cutscenes. lol
As much as I like raids way more than PoE, I loved the mechanics in the Skolas fight! It was s challenging dealing with the passing off the poison and really made you focus on the boss's health and when you were going to attack. In my opinion, beating Skolas successfully (without spamming him with rockets or supers) took as much skill as beating any other raid boss.
Fascinating stuff :) Vault of Glass was the first raid I ever did on any game and boy was it tough! I'm much better now than I used to be but I just love the mechanics of the raids in Destiny and how they genuinely require teamwork and communication. Great to hear the behind the scenes stuff like designers getting angry with other designers when they're running through the raids lol
AND THEY DONT STOP COMIN AND THEY DONT STOP COMIN AND THEY DONT STOP COMIN AND THEY DONT STOP COMIN AND THEY DONT STOP COMIN AND THEY DONT STOP COMIN AND THEY DONT STOP COMIN AND THEY DONT STOP COMIN AND THEY DONT STOP COMIN AND THEY DONT STOP COMIN AND THEY DONT STOP COMIN AND THEY DONT STOP COMIN
Really like the video type/idea datto! Id LOVE to see more of these. Maybe in the future try to have a more "lore-ish" approach to these for the people that enjoy lore. Doesnt have to be a full lore series, maybe just a point or 2 per video that touches a bit of backstory i.e: saying where crota comes from in a crotas end version of this. Thanks!
Datto, please do more videos like this. You're so informative and you know a ton about the game. They're awesome and receive really good reception, like the Lore of Destiny video you made. Keep the amazing work up. You and Planet Destiny are two amazing channels and I like the way they're run. Quality and professional.
Idk if you've seen the recent game informer stuff but I thought this was pretty cool (especially for you youtubers): "I also saw that they’re introducing some new emotes through the Eververse, which is fun. And the Eververse has another cool little feature - new artifacts for your guardian that seem pretty clearly targeted to folks making in-game movies. The one I saw - the Golden Age Lens - let you equip the artifact, and change the camera filter for your in-game view, and it added a sepia tint. I also saw one that added a blue tint. Bungie implied there are just a few colors, but it’s still pretty neat. They are definitely presented as a cosmetic choice - not something that would compete with the powerful Iron Lord artifacts."
Great video Datto, really enjoyed this one. Love hearing tidbits about development. The destiny vidocs are one of my favourite things to watch, this relates.
Not sure if you mentioned this in another lore video Datto, but I noticed that the two different portals at the Atheon fight represent different timestreams, or possible variations of the VoG. The vex control time so, there are of course going to be different dimension. Just thought I'd bring it up because I thought it was cool. :)
Watching this is pretty interesting. I've always hid on the fanatic phase and there are honestly so many places to hide that it kind of made sense that it's what you were supposed to do. Fighting those things seemed like a pointless way to risk your life, especially on the hard mode raid, where you can't revive unless you're a Sunsinger.
I haven't played Destiny since December 2015. VoG was my favorite event in the game. Taken King didn't do much for me, didn't even find the time to do King's Fall. Here's hoping RoI brings me back.
In vanilla destiny, they didn't have enough space to make the entrance of the vault a non-public area, yet they managed to put crota's end, PoE, the Reef and king's fall into the game. When they said they managed to save some memory space for the bigger vault, what the hell did they take out of the game? Now that old gen is dropped, I expect some major quality of life improvements with all that extra space!
Datto if you are reading this then would you agree with me that the Iron Gjallarhorn is just the G-horn with a ornament equipped because you only get it from the same quest so it would be a lot harder to give people two different G-horns. Love your video's and please reply if you agree.:)
A lot of people don't really like Luke Smith, he's kinda quirky and says some strange things in ways that could be worded a lot better too, but honestly, I think he's really cool. I can see the passion that he has for the game and it really shows that he does love the game too.
you mean to tell me that you guys threw money at the screen for behind the scenes info on VOG and didn't ask about the 5th chest and the alternative route?
Hi Datto, I love this short version of the behind the scenes stories from Luke. I don't know if you know this, but in the video (i linked) is a more in depth story about the engine (the making of the destiny engine) and the part about velocity (death) in the game. Link www.gamespot.com/videos/embed/6423668/ Keep doing what you do, you're awesome
I swear every time at the end of the video they said "Stephan" I got an adrenaline rush since that's one of my Screen names and no one knows how to pronounce it either. Even though I knew it wasn't me.
Between Vault of Glass, Crota's End, and King's Fall there isn't a raid in Destiny I don't like playing. I'm keeping my expectations within reason, but this new raid has some pretty big shoes to fill.
Dude what an amazing video. God I hope we get to learn more about what goes into making these raids. Hate it destiny all you want trolls. This game has brought more people together then any other game I know.
You can really see how Crota's end strayed from the original formula. They didn't have any moments of calm, collected movement in between the intense combat phases. it was nonstop fighting the entire raid and was one of the reasons why it was my least favorite raid.
Datto, did you know you can jump across the out of bounds floating platforms to a non out of bounds area? If you go far enough then the sky turns yellow.
Having spent most of the last two years solo I'm glad I got to see this YT. Personally I still feel screwed that 40% of the game was not something 80 to 90% of the Destiny customers would or could play. It should have been clearly stated on the marketing literature. When I saw the Planet Destiny video I actually quit playing for about 3 months when CoD Bo3 came out I was so mad. The latest update got me back now that they allow the solo players to level up and compete with the raid groups. We paid the same but never got any of the advanced armor or weapons. I'll be around until the elitist BS starts up again. Handsome Jack Overwatch and AW are around.
Vault of Glass is best raid I have played Crota's End was a strike King's Fall is a mess of mechanical and stratergical errors VoG is balance of firepower, startergy, mechanics and tactical mobilisation
I still use the vex today and it still wrecks
Um you're forgetting vision of confluence!
+Kyle Dixon I was going to! But the VoC was not that rare in terms of drop rate (at least to my understanding), but was VERY good none the less.
wait a minute that was in year one, everything's good in year 1 lol
You forgot my personal favorite , found verdict
I was on patrol and saw a fire team doing the raid and i decided to help them bcuz after they messaged me that their 6th guy left so they invited me and we did the rest of the raid
I think I was part of that Raid team. It was on XBox 1 during year 1 of D2
Hmmm
Wish we could turn back time, to the good old days..
Lol
You do realize the vex control time in ten vault so technically we could
+Max Hilliard Whoosh!
When our momma sang us to sleep but now were stressed out

rare blue quality sparrows
Lmao someone made a compilation of him saying it XD
datto made that
That was his first t shirt.

are you Modern TryHard in Destiny?
William Jang No. I'm just TryHard, lol.
I agree with what you're saying; with multiple accounts I run the raid quite a few times every week, and it's still legitimately fun for me.
But... I still hope they really ramp up the amount of cutscenes we get to enjoy in Destiny 2. I would kill for MGS-length cutscenes. lol
Ohhhh okay. ‹ TryHard › Cause there's this Modern TryHard I'm sure that runs with Tfue.
As much as I like raids way more than PoE, I loved the mechanics in the Skolas fight! Never, in my entire life, have I climaxed as fast as I did when I saw this video pop up in my feed.
Last time I came this early was when datto posted this video today.
L
+Jack Allen shut the fuck up?
AND THEY DONT STOP COMIN AND THEY DONT STOP COMIN AND THEY DONT STOP COMIN AND THEY DONT STOP COMIN AND THEY DONT STOP COMIN AND THEY DONT STOP COMIN AND THEY DONT STOP COMIN AND THEY DONT STOP COMIN AND THEY DONT STOP COMIN AND THEY DONT STOP COMIN AND THEY DONT STOP COMIN AND THEY DONT STOP COMIN
6 Rambo awwwww
Great video Byf!!
Kappa
+MasterOfBasara appak
Hahaha
LOL datto coming in like "start talking cause im about to make it rain up in here" love it!!
I still think it's funny how the RNG blessed me with a FateBringer and Gjallarhorn in the same exact vault of glass run.
The fugging nostalgia, dood.
I hope that The Wrath of the Machine is also open to the whole Plaguelands patrol for the sole purpose of HAGS :D
Really like the video type/idea datto! Id LOVE to see more of these. Maybe in the future try to have a more "lore-ish" approach to these for the people that enjoy lore. Remember Datto being excited and gracious for TH-cam views?
"Reload reload possible boss" door opens and nothing is there.
Idk if you've seen the recent game informer stuff but I thought this was pretty cool (especially for you youtubers):

You forgot to mention Luke getting destroyed by his own Sleeper shot.
Great video Datto, really enjoyed this one. Love hearing tidbits about development. The destiny vidocs are one of my favourite things to watch, this relates.

Finally more content in Destiny, which means Datto's channel will start growing again. On the way to 1 million!
Awesome content Datto. Keep up the good work.
Looking forward to this video, and I haven't even watched it yet.
It was awesome :D Thanks for the video, datto!
definitely worth watching till the very end of the video
thanks datto i would have missed all of this
Oh the memories... I remember helping so many noobs get into the vault while I was just passing by finishing up my bounties.
This was such an awesome video, I love hearing little stories like this
Excellent video, Datto. Loved it! Keep up the good work
Awesome!!! Just watching that footage brings back such great memories. No raid is equal to it.
The end of the video made me realize that I'd never heard Datto's real name before.
Watching this is pretty interesting. I've always hid on the fanatic phase and there are honestly so many places to hide that it kind of made sense that it's what you were supposed to do. Fighting those things seemed like a pointless way to risk your life, especially on the hard mode raid, where you can't revive unless you're a Sunsinger.
awesome vid datto! keep it up
I used to love watching you do raids and nightfalls with the Hawkmoon when it was godly and not many people had it :(
I haven't played Destiny since December 2015. VoG was my favorite event in the game. Taken King didn't do much for me, didn't even find the time to do King's Fall. Here's hoping RoI brings me back.
At number 15, never thought I would be afraid of a ledge.
Curse the ledge of death!
maybe for all the secret exotics come in missions where we need to find a secret entarance just like the black spindle
great video datto
Ornaments might make the thunderlord be on fire like we saw in the trailer for ttk
Cool video. I really do hope that you make more videos like this one.
I wish they would bring back year 1 raids, this was my favorite raid
Really cool. Thanks for sharing!
Great video, datto

So many good memories
I would like to see a vid on the design choices behind Crota
Datto if you are reading this then would you agree with me that the Iron Gjallarhorn is just the G-horn with a ornament equipped because you only get it from the same quest so it would be a lot harder to give people two different G-horns. Love your video's and please reply if you agree.:)

He comes off as kinda douchey at times but I think his heart is in the right place. It is, as you say, all in the way he speaks.
Hey Datto can yo make weapon reviews again? I really liked those. Do one on hard light please?
you mean to tell me that you guys threw money at the screen for behind the scenes info on VOG and didn't ask about the 5th chest and the alternative route?
It was for charity dumbass
+Napstablook 22 That's good and all but not what I wanted.
+Weapons Complex you're an idiot
We didn't get to ask the questions, he just told stories and I guess that was one he didn't get to.
The alternate route(kabrs path) was originally going to be the entrance for hard mode, but test groups couldn't find it so it was left as an Easter
They need to bring big back it was the best. So many good times there
I had to make sure this was on my recent videos and it was
good shit datto
Hi Datto,

Keep doing what you do, you're awesome
@datto please do the crota and kings fall. i liked this video alot
Man I'm so glad Luke smith is heading destiny 2
I swear every time at the end of the video they said "Stephan" I got an adrenaline rush since that's one of my Screen names and no one knows how to pronounce it either. Even though I knew it wasn't me.

cool video, keep up the good work
VoG should have had a Taken variant for TTK. It was such an iconic part of Destiny, leaving it in year one just seems kind of sad.
nice datto!!! :)
9:48 what is that thing in the bottom right hand corner
Omg yeah what the fuck
I dont see anything unusual
Descendant Goblin. Just a Goblin from the future where Vex fashion has evolved into round headplates
This is still my favorite raid
I haven't played VOG is so long I think I forgot how to do it
We could tell that was your first time running VoG since you were using a thorn in a raid...
Dude what an amazing video. God I hope we get to learn more about what goes into making these raids. Hate it destiny all you want trolls. This game has brought more people together then any other game I know.
This didn't show up in my sub box, but it showed up in suggested videos. I was wondering why I hadn't seen this before.
I AM NOT A CROOK
You can really see how Crota's end strayed from the original formula. They didn't have any moments of calm, collected movement in between the intense combat phases. it was nonstop fighting the entire raid and was one of the reasons why it was my least favorite raid.
Luke smith needs to be the main creator of the weapons for Rise of Iron
Standing in one spot isn't that thrilling.
Let's talk about the bridge and kings fall...
The disappearing platforms were in megaman one though.
Would you enjoy a remastered vault of glass datto?
What about the serect path on the paradox mission ???
VoG was so much fun
Have you given up on the WoW to Destiny videos? I miss them :'(
He hasnt done wow in a while dude
+Benjamin fisher he was translating wow raid bosses into destiny raid bosses.
DattoDoesDonations
The start of kings fall is at the court witch is a public area
wish he talked about the underneath path
Datto, did you know you can jump across the out of bounds floating platforms to a non out of bounds area? If you go far enough then the sky turns yellow.
I still have never completed the VoG... is it worth completing now?
Man, I want to do the VoG now.
they should bring old raids back
I swear, the disappearing platforms/ledge of death nearly caused me to throw my controller at the TV the first time I did it.
Doing my first ever VOG raid in a couple of weeks, hope it goes well :)
No but I want more info. Awesome video!
Yea Halo's engine is definitely used here In Destiny, the first time I touched this game it immediately felt like Halo controls
is it weird I'd like to know more about crotas background more than oryx
Datto wasn't thorn a gun that came from the Dark Below DLC
its insane how much thought they put into vog compared to everything else in d1
Having spent most of the last two years solo I'm glad I got to see this YT. can you do videos for all the raids/dlcs pls
i was hoping that the final chest that has still not been found was going to be revealed in this video lol
Kings fall entrance was in a public place
No it wasn't , what he means by "public" is people on patrol can interact/help you while you're doing the raid but you can't do that in Kings Fall
Ohhh, sorry, my bad,i thought he meant accessible by patrol
it is a patrol area just in an instance that others cant get into just by being on patrol..its kinda weird
Am I the only one that agrees with the designer about the Gorgon's Maze?
VoG is still my fav raid
When are you streaming
Vault of Glass is best raid I have played
Crota's End was a strike
King's Fall is a mess of mechanical and stratergical errors
VoG is balance of firepower, startergy, mechanics and tactical mobilisation
half the time i wipe in kings fall is because of a glitch where oryx doesnt slam and plate one doesnt activate
the gameguy
I wipe because of the fucking bright white lights fucking blinding me
sister is harder than oryx b half the time you cant get rid of the centurions without dying to the sister hymns
Is Luke Smith's team working on Rise of Iron or Destiny 2 I know they worked on TTK
I believe Destiny 2
Supposedly Destiny 2. Rise of Iron is the House of Wolves team.
These facts are very interesting
Any chance I could still watch that stream? I clicked the twitch link and it says video unavailable
But what about the 6th chest?
