  • NOTICE: The typhoon was broken when I visited, so I was unable to film it. :( BUT, someone else did film it! Here it is: • Johnny's NO TOUCH Car ...
This is part 1 of my road trip series.
During my trip to Kentucky, I wanted to stop by a nice self service car wash when we were driving through Scranton PA. It has 3 self service bays, and 2 automatic washes, both with Oasis systems in them. The touch free bay has a Typhoon which was broken, while the Soft Touch bay has a rare BayWash i5!
If you don’t know, the BayWash i5 was originally released from Sonny’s in 2006, but they discontinued it in 2012 so they can focus on tunnel equipment. But Oasis purchased the i5 from Sonny’s, so they can make it their own system. Just like the WashWorld systems, the i5 has voice commands for the customers who are confused.
This wash replaced a Ryko SoftGloss XS 2 2 years ago and I remember seeing it on Car Wash Consignment. It was a refurbished XS 2 that was in very good shape so I have no idea why they sold and replaced it. It even had a Foaminator on it, along with RainShield. It also had grey and dark green FoamBrite on it.
The wash shown in this video was the $14 Ultra Wash which included:
    *White Foam Detergent Bath
    *Soft Touch Wash & Shine
    *GlowFoam Detergent Bath
    *Undercarriage Wash
    *Rocker Panel Wheel Blaster
    *Carnauba Hot Lava Wax (FAIL)
    *Samurai Shield Protectant
    *Spot Free Rinse
    *Turbo Air Dry
Wash Quality: excellent! My only complaints are that the Lava wax wasn’t that great and the dryers were awful! I was told it wasn’t the dryers flair, it was because the machine didn’t apply some sort of chemical on the car to make the drying quality better. Besides that, this is a great car wash and I highly recommend it to anyone who is in the Scranton PA area!
I was disappointed that the Typhoon was broken, but there are 2 videos of it in action so you can still se it work!

I find it interesting, most of the Ryko Tunnels that I’ve liked over the years rarely have the tunnels with the curtain brushes. (I could be mistaken as I haven’t been all over the country) Yet, I hear about Sonny’s and Belanger (I’ve seen the latter, but not the primary) being known for their tunnels.

I wonder why the front brushes aren't in their retract position whenever the machine signals a customer to drive into the wash bay.

Maybe you can find a car wash somewhere in Pennsylvania that uses Simoniz chemicals too!
