    That "B" Service exceeded by 24,700 miles would scare the hell out of me. 150,000 miles on a quality NA engine is doable with proper maintenance. A turbo engine with lax maintenance is a ticking bomb. I certainly hope you've got deep pockets for the repairs needed to bring this beast back from the brink.

    Just think, the original owner bought that thing a few years before the great recession, balling out with a 200K car. Then he sat on the thing, daily driving it, until 2017. Seems like you picked it up from an apt complex. Sort of a sad story, but a killer car if you can keep repairs DIY and cheap. A fucking V12, man.

    You've done very well for yourself at that price even if you don't want to keep it and spend money on it you've still come out a winner.....if you take off the wheels and seats alone and sell them you will have made your money back that you spent and a little extra change, after that once you strip the car and sell the parts anything you make is straight profit
    Personally I'd fix it up and keep it at the end of the day an S65 V12 is still a boss car that can be a lot of fun to drive and will still turn heads
    Good luck with whatever you decide to do 👍

    I own one of these gems. Bought it in Sep 2014 with 29000 miles on the clock, I had to change front rotors and pads due to rust thanks to prev owner, he never used it, so they rusted, cost me $3300 to replace on both sides.
    Then I changed the oil in the ABC unit and gearbox, that's another another $1300, then it was the large service, 24 plugs and the whole 9 yards, $2800, then for some reason I desided to buy winter tires on 19" original AMG wheels that I've never used, $5000, then I did a undercoating, $800, last thing I did was the small service in April 2018, $1000. and new Michelin S4 summer tires, $1400. The car is now @38000 miles and sleeping in the garage during winter. No issues what so ever (knock on wood) with the electronics or dampers, no malfunctions, no nothing!
    All in all, it's a great car!!!!! Take care of it and it will take care of you! Sure it's expensive to maintain, insurance and to fill up (It drinks a lot), but the joy and smile it brings!!!

    I own the exact same car, a 2006 AMG S65. I paid $22,000, and financed it, so I am still making payments. It had 103K miles. Lots of issues, and as we speak it's at the mechanic's dealing with transmission problems. I have always loved this body style and had an S430 previously. In the 2 plus years I have had it, I have spent about $4000 so far keeping it running. That does not include what I expect to pay for the transmission repair. I now have about 136K miles on it. However it's the best riding and performing car I have ever had. I plan to keep it forever. I have the original sticker, as this was a one-owner- $169K!

    Look at the other angle, for just over 10K per year, he drove a nice big saloon AMG63 S class Benzo , with the leather interior and quality stuff:) Even better, you bought an AMG63, which is good because it is the later year for this chassis, the first of those we had in Europe were definitely S55 AMG, and you got the old body, with the face-lift and newer 63AMG engine for 6K, lol! Yes it will be a bit old fashioned, not a fancy or prestigious for the valley, as it is not the 2015-17 S class, but it is full of goodies and comfort, 63AMG S class. If you fix some small things like the check engine etc for 3-4K, you have great machine under 10K:)

      Yeah sell to idiots for their short term enjoyment until it breaks and they run. These cars are for millionaires that don't care about flushing money down the toilet. I worked on a lot of German cars as Mechanic and they are a bitch to work on. As Mercedes keeps putting unnecessary technology in their cars, not that it really needs to be done, just becomes more complex and more things break. For all the complicated electronics and crazy computer control modules requires the Mercedes Star Diagnostic computer that cost over $25,000! as I'm not making this up.

    • @Hahahahahahahahaha09
      @Hahahahahahahahaha09 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eman 08 Yeah I'm well aware. I myself have family who are Mercedes-Benz mechanics & also contacts in the automotive industry

    • @JettaRedIII
      @JettaRedIII 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll say it again, you can get a MB Star Diagnostic computer (Xentry DAS) from China for around $650. Works the same. And, an older car won't need the latest software updates to the tool. I will agree that if you don't do your own wrenching, you better have a lot of discretional cash. My experience is that I can do my own fixes (generally) for 1/10th the cost of what the dealer will charge. I replaced the trunk struts for around $60 using OEM struts in under 5 minutes where the dealer wanted $300. (Coulda gotten cheaper struts, but went with Stabilus instead.)

    $1,000 a month depreciation? Who cares when it's a company car and you can write off a huge % of it? It was prob a lease that the owner bought once it expired. Still, why are so many things busted like the locks? German engineering and manufacturing at it's best.

    Cheapest S65 from 2005 (84k miles) in Germany is 25k Euro. So yeah you got an insane deal. But maybe its totally fucked technically. Dont know how much it costs in the USA to fix a Merc. But I can easily imagine you will pay 20-30k just to bring it up to standard again. But even then you will have a fantastic car for 35k.

      20-30k to fix?? Bro a whole 722.6 and M275 Engine with the turbos cost 10k with installation. I don’t see how you are spending any more than 12-13k to get the car to perfect condition, I MEAN PERFECT. Put it this way:
      He spent $3750, lets say he put s10k into the repair of the car (he didn’t btw, he actually has a video on VinWiki on this exact car), and he has himself a car with the MSRP of $180k for $13750 with all the luxuries of a Bentley and power of that of a Ferrari 458. Where else do you get a combination like that?
      Also, those M275 engine with the 5 Speed are literally bulletproof if basic maintenance is done. Is the ABC that use to be expensive to fix but now is much cheaper (still relatively expensive though)

    This is my 2 cents... you got a wonderful car for a steal. One thing u have to realize is, you can't think your stupid if you buy a car of that magnitude and think your an idiot because your going to have to dump a ton of cash into it to bring it back to its original form or close to it. Obviously this guy who owned it was going through rough times and was using it as a daily driver and wasn't maintaining it. Most people who have these cars only drive them on weekends and special occasions.. just like if it were a Lamborghini. Now there's nothing wrong with it as long as you maintain it, which he didnt.. only way I would say it's a dumb buy is if you buy it and you have no kind of connection for parts or at least a mechanic your close with that can give you a great deal on repairs and on top of that knows the car really well.. reason I say that is because, I am a mercedes mechanic. I graduated from the mercedes elite program. So for someone like me it's a fucking win, win. So find a good mechanic because judging from this video your not a mechanic.... oh yah and P.S- it doesn't have air suspension it has hydraulic suspension.. just an FYI... hope everything works out..cheers!!!!

      Dude my 2003 SL500 has hydraulic suspension and one of the hoses is leaking. RBM wants 5 grand to replace it because they said its hard to get to (under the engine or something). It's been sitting in my garage for a year and a half. Can you help with any advice?

    • @strykz63
      @strykz63 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      mightbegenius ....ouch... sounds like the one that the engine may have to come out to replace.. I still think that price is a little extra though.. the only way I can give you any good advice is if you can figure out which line it is exactly..
