Awesome video. I just ordered one and it should be here today. I’ve always wanted one and it will put my mind at ease knowing the actual number for once lol. Plus this way you can tell if you got a bad bulb even if it’s brand new and prevent a problem before it starts.

The “reptile” model is identical to the regular model, except for the fancy graphic at the top… it’s also at least $10 more for that fancy graphic..
this 6.5 meter measure how much uv gets to the basking spot, the 6.2 meter measures the uv output of the light source… sounds the same but it’s not
So is the measurement from the top of the unit. When you set it on something or make the sensor level to a branch, there is a big difference in the 4 inches of the unit
Correct. You do have to take that into consideration!
@zareptiles I spoke with an engineer at Solar Meter. That's exactly what he said the measurement is from the top where the sensor is. Thanks for replying and the video!

Great video! Definitely need a solar meter. I too have a bearded dragon in a 40 gallon until I get a bigger tank and it has a mesh top. The uvb is t5 10.0 and it lays on top of the mesh tank. I wonder if it would be better to put the uvb in the enclosure or leave on top? I know the mesh cuts the uvb reading but wonder if it is significant enough to put the uvb inside or would it be too much uvb with it inside the tank considering it’s a 40 gallon.
seeing as 40 gallons arent that tall, id recommend just getting uvb rated stronger than what you need, so when the screen cuts out some of the output, you still get a decent amount! I recommend the Arcadia T5HO uvbs because they have lots of options! and a solarmeter will definitely help you with getting it all set up to perfection!
what bulbs are you using?
I use primarily arcadia T5HO
This solar meter doesn't distinguish between UvA AND UVB. UVB level is more important for D3 and bones. V6.4 is a better version
