Get ahold of a company in Denver called left hand utes. They specialize in importing and converting the utes to be legal in the states. I'd give them a ring and see what can and can't be done. If you can't get that one maybe you can get a us spec one converted and good to go when you get back where bald eagles are born.

If you have a Pontiac G8 and a UTE body, you can get them grafted together for much less than a conversion.

The 2017 Holden SSV Redline Commodore has a 6.2 litre LS3 V8, Those are HSV Maloo R8's and GTS's. so they basically come with the same engine but with a bigger Supercharged v8 and more KW.
That $8000 ss Ute is now close to $30k now.

I'm sure someone already mentioned that ute=utility vehicle. Used commonly by tradies to shift around dirt, timber, tools/equipment etc. Utes are a workhorse. Probably used in the same way as the American "trucks" but better :)

We stopped getting Ford Rangers in the U.S. in 2012. We dont have the newer ones like Australia.
South Africa is the same as AUS, we don't get the full size trucks because they feel there is no market for them, we get the rangers/ KB/ Hilux and BT50, none of the really good stuff.

There's a company here in the states that imports these Utes, changing them to left hand drive. I got mine with a LS-7 and a T-56 Magnum.

You are sort of right... It depends on how you import it. You can import it in pieces and be legal. You can't import it complete in the same container. For instance a block and trans in one container a head in another as well as the electronics and misc parts in the other. Then you can sell the pieces.

Something I learned driving rental cars in England, always carry a backpack. When you go to get in the wrong side of the car, just set your backpack down in the seat and ease around to the side with the steering wheel!

220,000 Km is not a hell of a lot of mileage in Australia, for many of us we don't start to worry about it until it has gone twice that distance. Out in the country we can go for hundreds of kilometers between towns...Which is where I live...
