I love my FN 510. I shoot it two to three times a month. Its the only fire arm i own that i had to change how i aim to what they call a "Combat hold". After i did that ive had zero issues with accuracy. As for the mags i left them loaded for a few weeks and now its smooth until the 22nd round.
Can you explain what you refer to about a combat hold. Glad you are having a good experience and haven’t experienced an issue, it’s always comforting to know what’s in your safe or on your carry is reliable!
@GSquaredTactical I can try to explain. Typically, I aim to do a center hold. That's when the sights align and split the center of the target. The combat hold is when the sights align and cover the center of the target. Id Google it for more information, but it makes sense when you consider the raised sights on the tactical.
@dommernation1343 sure higher sight affect POI but we always work to figure it out and get good with it. Thanks for watching and for your expertise. Please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
When I decided I needed a bear defense caliber pistol, I narrowed it down to the FN-510 and the S&W 10mm M&P Performance Center. I liked the feel of the FN - very solid build. Bit I went with the S&W because it was so much less expensive, had a longer slide & sight radius, and had a ported barrel that supposedly reduces recoil. I haven't actually taken to the range to fire it yet though.
Comparing the FN with the PC is not even fair lol that’s why we compared it to this version of the SW because that PC is a beautiful thing and handles recoil like no other polymer framed 10 mm we have ever shot. Please be sure to subscribe if you have not already
I wanted the FN 510 10mm over anything, but some comments that called into question its ability to handle the hot 10mm loads scared me away. So first I bought the Sig P220 10mm. But then I thought that I could use a lighter and higher capacity 10mm to complement it…so went with Springfield XDM 10mm
My favorite 10mm’s are the Kodiak Dan Wesson, the Sig Sauer Tacops 1911, the Sig Sauer Xten Compact Comp, the S&W 2.0 PC, and the FN 510. Thanks for watching and commenting and be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
@@GSquaredTactical I was just checking Dan Wessons out recently!! I’m guessing that most people have already known about them forever, not me I just found out about them lol. Quite a price tag though.
What I have learned about FN with time and more experience with the brand is that after about 150 or 200 rounds the trigger gets 30 to 40% better and after 500 rounds about 60% better. Still not the greatest, but it does break in real nice. Thanks for watching.
Had one for a short while but after about 100 rds. I decided the grip wasn't for me. Even with the different back straps I couldn't get comfortable. I switched to the Sig X Ten which fits me so much better. I do like the 510 as a whole, though.
Yeah the Xten does feel nice in the hand but felt recoil seemed noticeable over the 510. Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
Trigger is definitely better in the 545 and the 510 but still not great for the price of the gun. Thanks for watching and for commenting and please be sure to subscribe. If you haven’t already
I certainly like this firearm, but it’s not my favorite 10 mm as much as it pains me to admit this, not being a Sig Guy the softest Shooting best recoil handling and best trigger 10 mm that I have shot to date in a polymer platform is the Sig Sauer X Ten Compact Comp. Thanks for watching and for commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you have not already.
You cant beat a factory Walther trigger, and the apex triggers have always been great. I installed one on my Shield 9MM and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made!
A TH-camr tested the 510. He observed that his brass was ballooning out at the bottom bc it may be unsupported. Can’t reload. Did this happen to you? I’m looking at the 510, the M&P and Springfield in 10mm.
No sir it didn’t, but for me I like the ergonomics and better managed recoil on the M&P but by alot my favorite poly 10mm is the Sig Sauer P320 Xten Compact Comp. Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already and check out our vids on the M&P and M&P PC and Sig Comp 10mm’s
I mean $799 isn’t that bad for a well built 10mm that has 4 optic plates and all mounting hardware, raised suppressor height steel sights, ambi, steel guide rod, changeable backstraps and forged barrel. So yes I believe it’s worth the squeeze lol. Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
Yeah we did off camera but it’s time consuming for the video and people let us know when it’s to long and the gun isn’t going bang lol. Thanks for watching and for commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you have not already.
@GSquaredTactical subscribed. Im sure you already know but with the balistic trajectory of modern pistol cartridges. The ideal distance to zero a red dot is between 20 yards and 15 yards. 10mm would be better suited with a 20 yard zero because of its higher velocity.
@ericward2005 I understand we zeroed at 10 and all the trainers we’ve ever talked to said that no matter how far the round would reach out and touch you should zero it at 7 yards which apparently is the distance they have determined you would be in a conflict. We backed it up to 10/11 yards because it is a 10mm
I mean overall the FN is slightly bigger and weights slightly more but is a little thinner. If I had to get rid of one it would be a super tough decision but with the thinner, less aggressive grip on the FN I’d probably go with it. However out of all the polys I’m going to choose the Sig Sauer P320 Xten Comp Compact without much or any thinking on the subject
That is a huge gun lol but it is feature Rich as well. Just like this one and does feel phenomenal in the hand. I just never have been a fan of Springfield polymer frame I guess that’s the reason they make so many different guns because everyone likes something different. My FN510 tactical is a tac driver...very accurate....recoil is really nothing and trigger is just fine...the iron sights are phenomenal...

The walther PPQ with apex trigger is the best trigger. My fn LS 509 Edge trigger is 4lbs and almost as good as my apex trigger

I'd give that a few clicks up if it's grouping that low at 7 yards. You want it to hit where you're aiming in the conditions you plan on shooting.
