Oh, how perfect. We really are spoiled being so close to everything. Your happiness on this trip is just illuminated. I love it! Gives me the feels as if I were out there. Yosemite never gets old is facts. When we were hiking out of Glen Aulin a few months back, it was so hard leaving. I have to say thank you again for the route you took from the Eastern side over Donahue into Tuolomne. That was the first 2 day trip I took my brother on, and he was so amazed. There's really nothing as good at getting out there.
Great video, Scott. Thank you. I spent five nights in Yosemite in mid last October as part of a hiking trip that covered all nine National Parks in California. The weather was almost perfect, but there was little water in the waterfalls and wildfires further south in Kings Canyon. Cheers.
@@Sheety33 No wild camping in Yosemite this time. I stuck to day hikes (including a couple of 20+ mile ones), moving between the different districts of the park. I alternated between camping outside the park in my full-size SUV and spending a couple of nights in Mariposa. I posted my attempt improving on my best time on the Four Miles Trail: th-cam.com/video/LnyDjuwLhsc/w-d-xo.html And drone shots from the road trip between the parks: th-cam.com/video/mHpG9YpCK60/w-d-xo.html Will take me some time to edit and upload the other videos from this trip. Cheers.
I just bought the national parks life time pass. A great deal for us geezers. i will be visiting Yosemite a lot this summer.. Avoiding the valley seems to mean avoiding the crowds
Nice Video Scott. You timed that hike perfectly! One question....You carry trekking poles, but I never saw you use them, except to point at scenery! Why? Most hikers I see using them, don't use them correctly, and therefore don't obtain any of the benefits, but at least they try! 😊 Using them correctly will: Make you more efficient while ascending and descending, regardless of age or ability. Make you safer, especially in technical terrain. Relieve pressure on your joints, especially when descending. Burn more calories (if that's important to you, as it is for me!). Using them correctly involves proper pole and strap adjustment, and learning 3 modes that aren't difficult, but require some practice to achieve muscle memory, making efficient use second nature. I didn't think I needed them. Was I ever wrong! Anyway, If you (or anyone reading this) happen to be in the SF Bay Area, contact me and I'll show you how to use them. I guarantee, you'll be glad you did!
Really enjoying your video description says late November and in the video you say late October I'm curious because I was at horseshoe Meadows 27/28 of October. Weather was very windy at night at night.
Great video, I have been at that location fall/winter. Just wanted to know your pack weight with water. Again, thanks for sharing your trip, love that area.
is this now in December 24 2924? just that it looks warm not cold because usually there's some snow by now? I am due for Yosemite I used to go every year mostly in winter
what are the best ways to learn how to cook for camping? do i find a class online? or do local shops/stores have services they can show me? im a student at theu university of wyoming and im not sure if they have anything on campus offered in the spring semesters
It's not a bad idea, especially if it's remote (as this was in late Fall) and you're solo. I'd leave reference to it on my dash as well. If you break a leg, you'll be glad you did!

Agreed! Yosemite never gets old. Fun seeing those climbers (their lights anyhow) on El Cap Great colors
😃
Simply breathtaking film my friend! You created absolutely amazing piece of art here! 👏👏👏
Thanks so much! 🙏 Glad you enjoyed the adventure.
Great video of the fall colors - would be fun to continue the rest of the way to Glacier Point ( when water is available earlier in the season)
That’s a great idea - I’ve got to try it! Looking to do that in spring of 2025 👍🏕️
Perfect weather, perfect campsite! Beautiful view!

Sounds amazing! Did you wild camp in Yosemite?

It really was a special spot!

His watch indicates Saturday the 26th, so it is October.
I messed up on the date, was actually late October 😊

How was the snow camp? Bet it was amazing! Not sure how much the pack weighed but would estimate maybe 40 lbs.
If you're looking for Aspens on the western slops of the Sierra's I suggest checking out Mineral King.
I'll have to check that out, thanks for the tip!

End of October - I messed up the date! Pretty warm for the end of October for sure!

I recommend searching Google and talking with other backpackers - there are many free resources out there :)
@@Sheety33 thank you!
Stunning view man. Great video and effort. I have similar lights around my tent also. th-cam.com/video/KWmmEVfje88/w-d-xo.html
Wouldn't even bother registering, but hey, that's just me. Bears couldn't care less either.
