    Buddy, you saved my life with this trick!
    I already have a long story with the front door locking system(I have posted about it a few weeks ago), and I have left the car door "ready" at Monday at 21:30, after a 5 hours long burlesque I done(I have disassembled it and re-assembled it for like 6 times - I have seen every possible worst case scenarios).
    Although I have tested it at the evening, and It worked perfectly, it was stuck at Tuesday, and I had to left the car for my wife, while I had to go.
    I have thought, that this cable have to reach the very end of the handle. I haven't seen at the very beginning, where it was.
    Now it is working perfectly, I can't be thankful enough! The only thing, the worst of all is the cable harness- It takes me like 15 minutes to push them back into the rubber tube-horror!
    Anyway, thanks again!

    Hey matey...thanks for the great video...I have a question, I have a Skoda Fabia Combi 1.4 the right hand door won't open...it's a left hand drive, so the right hand door is not often used, hardly ever actually..how on earth do I open this door when I can't access anything...I've taken the panel off, everything seems to click when I press the central locking button, but the indicator won't come up. When I pull the handle from the inside the indicator pops up and immediately goes down again...it started a while ago and I had to open and close the door using either key or internal door lock button, a few times for the door to unlock, but now it wont open at all. I can feel vibrations on the silver riveted door panel so the motor is not dead....any tips would be appreciated....thank you sir.

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you weren't using the door much then it is probably either a connection issue or water/corrosion on some contacts/motor/lock etc as these doors are susceptible to water ingress. Problem is, opening the door so you can strip everything to access all these. I don't know an definitive way to do this yet, many have tried stripping as much as they can, like the inner panel that you have managed to do, accessing some connections, which should help and at least dry things out a bit, but removing the lock isn't possible without wrecking everything and would be so easy to damage the door body. You need it all intact to work. make sure your car battery and fob battery are fully charged, keep trying with the manual key, banging the handle technique seen in the video and maybe use a hairdryer directed into the door cavity onto the lock etc. Sorry this isn't what you wanted to hear, but when you do eventually get the door open change the door lock, examine the wiring inside the rubber bellows by the A pillar and check/clean/re-seat all connections.

    Hi, my front passenger door won't open for a while now and I tried this with no luck. Electric windows and boot button are faulty intermittently, I'm just wondering are all these interrelated to a loom issue or do I need a new door lock and fix boot and windows separately? Thanks

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is a common issue of the drivers side door lock micro-switch becoming faulty which causes such issues inc the rear boot lock so fitting a new door lock should fix it. It is worth pointing out that the wires going into the door behind the rubber bellows on the A pillar also could be damaged and need looking at first. Electric windows is usually moisture related or door panel switch worn out - easy replacement. Have a look @: A pillar wires: th-cam.com/video/ohW65TyZp_o/w-d-xo.html and front door lock: th-cam.com/video/x1DJz4_2n-s/w-d-xo.html :-)

      @@slabber7514 as I said, first look at the wires at the A pillar going into the door as these wear with constant opening/closing. The drivers side effect the other locks when it's micro-switch gives the wrong un/locked signals to the other locks. To be honest this is a common issue with these, back door can fail or become intermittent goats also. Start with the drivers door and work from there. Micro-switch can be replace for £3.00 easy if you have bolts not rivets. Hope this steers you in the right direction :-)

      I would suspect the drivers door micro switch first as when that fails it it registers either locked or unlocked in the control module Irrespective of the key. This effect the locking/unlocking of the other doors. Also you need to check the A pillar door wireing for chafing and connections on each door. Also the rear door cavity is suspect to water ingress that can affect the electrics by corroding contacts. Sort the drivers door lock first and work from there. Hope this helps :-)

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry to hear you're having issues with the door. I think the cable maybe has stiffened up or the spring mech in the lock has weakened. If the method in this video with the cable didn't solve it then you will have take the panel off, which is a pain with the rivets, I know. You can replace the rivets with rivnuts which are a threaded version that doesn't need a tool to fit, just a nut, bolt and spanner ;-)

    Hey, I've been strugling with this problem for a while now. Problem started with struggle to open the doors with a key (I don't have pilot). I had to forcefully turn the key to open/close. At some point "insert key knob" was to loose to use the key. Car didn't react to that issue. I bought new insert key knob, but when I replaced it, there was no change. Now I can easily remove insert key knob and unfortunately I have to open door with my... screwdriver. I have only one screw (the bottom one from your video) to do anything. Screw is still on it's place. Anyway, I did order today new insert knob to try it once more. My question is... What could possibly couse the problem? If that will help you - when I open the car with screwdriver all doors are opening/closing when I turn it left to open, right to close. I have steering wheel on the left side. I also from time to time has to do the "punch" method (I'll investigate the cable as you showed in the video). Cheers and that you know - Lot of your videos, I mean LOT help me get through many issues with my baby Fabia.

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Check the drivers side door. Make sure the wires behind the rubber bellows on the A pillar are not frayed and check the connections are good by disconnecting/reconnecting and the door lock microswitch has been changed. After which the passenger door is still a problem then that door needs to be opened and then the same on that door. It is a problem if you can't ever get the door to actually open as you then have to somehow take the panel off with it closed, very hard, but not impossible, then to get the lock to released. I haven't done a video on this as it iS not easy and hasn't yet happened to me. There is a video online on how to get these locks to release, but haven't the link; you maybe able to search for it. When open renew lock and check wires etc.

    I had this problem on my front passenger door. Tired banging it, WD40, different combinations of pushing and pushing all to no avail.
    In the end I realised that with the engine running the solenoid in the lock has a bit of extra voltage to play with, and it works every time.
    If you can get in to start the engine, try having the engine running when you hit the unlock button. It might just be enough to at least get the door open.

    • @HatBoyHarvey

      Make sure the batteries in the key fob are new and the car battery is good. Then it can only be a connection, short, lock or fob failure issue and you will need to systematically investigate, test and fix until working. Key areas are door lock micro-switch, wires on A pillar and connectors.

    Had this problem with front passenger door, tried slackening the handle cable, to no avail. As there was a problem with the electric windows both sides, I replaced the motor and module in drivers side door (admittedly the only one I could find was from passenger side of a SEAT Ibiza of same year).
    The electric windows now work and front passenger side door unlocks everytime...
    Now all I gotta do is try and find the source of the current battery drain (I suspect it to be the module I replaced, as if car is unlocked with fob the windows only open with ignition on, if you open it with the key the windows open without key in ignition), and the Fabia will be back on form.
    Sorry for rambling...

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry to hear about the windows. The drivers door motor is the control for the others I believe so that explains why yours isn't quite right yet, but at least it kinda works ;-) Battery drain on mine turned out to be the glovebox light that was on, worn out mechanism to turn it off so I modified it with a bit of extra plastic padding and now it's fine and dandy :-)

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Trouble with this problem is; even when you get the inner panel off your not much better off with the lock as it is bolted from the outside door edge. All you can do is test the connection to the lock which if working would mean the lock is faulty and would need to come out - difficult problem! If may release by manually pulling the release, but the motor needs to work. you can cut into the lock housing and get to the cog wheel and turn it to release the lock - Ive not done this myself, but I have seen it done and is said to work - maybe i will do this for a video sometime as a lot of guys have this issue. Try this method in this video first it may work and don't underestimate the banging as it can shock the mechanism or even motor/connection into life. Once off do replace the lock with a brand new one. Hope this helps, wait for me to do the video (maybe a while) or fiddle with it and good luck ;-)

    Hi id like to say thank you for putting out these great videos which have helped me sort some issues out with my car. Im wondering if you can help me with an issue im unable to resolve on my skoda fabia 1.9 tdi.
    It started some weeks ago when i went to start the car and it wouldn't start. Had no breakdown cover got rac cover. He diagnosed my issue as a worn out fuel pump which he hit into life. Got home replaced the fuel pump following your video and my car still wouldn't start.
    Then realised no power was going to the fuel pump. Changed the relay following your video to no success. Then i bypassed relay delivering power to the pump but the car still wont start. I have checked the filter fuel is getting through.
    Im all out of ideas as all the fueses seem to be in good order.
    Any suggestions would be very very helpful.

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not easy, If you still have no power at the wire going to the pump I would trace that wire back and do a continuity test on the wire to see if it has a break somewhere and at the same time check any connections. Test the relay contacts are working as they should as it may not do. This isn't easy as you have to know the correct contacts to test for what reading. If this is not working correctly the ECU will not be getting the correct signal for running the fuel pump and won't let the car start. My guess is the ecu probably needs to know the pump is activated as you have found bypassing it doesn't start the car. You could hook up vagcom which may help identify a fault more clearly and at least eliminate others which can help focus the diagnosis. Hope this helps steer you in the right direction and sorry I can't be more help without tinkering with it myself :-)
