Thank you so much. Your excellent teaching and detailed explanation managed to solve the problem with my 06 Golf passenger door. It's amazing to think that tiny little adjustment of the cable end lug in the door handle can be so critical. I was very depressed initially when my door module replacement didn't work, but following your advice I have fixed the problem and I'm now very happy. Brilliant work!
I must say, your clear and concise guidance is second to none.. I will try this tomorrow on my 2007 vw bettle, but I want to say the way you "teach" is brilliant! Thank you!!
I was having the same issue with my 08 Jetta and I spent days researching and trying to figure out what the problem was until I found this GREAT video. I was able to fix my door in minutes. Thank you SO much!
I had to take the door skin off my front passenger side door to repair the outer weather strip and this video saved me from panicking after I finished putting everything back together and i closed my door and the door would not open. I neglected to test the lock mechansim/latch with the door open first. The explanation and demonstrations were super clear. I simply needed to mount the cable retainer more towards the middle of the bracket/mount thing on the door handle. I had it stretched out almost exactly the same as demonstrated. Everrything is good as new now.
I am having the same issue with my 2011 Jetta. I spent days researching the problem. I have no words to say thanks and you have given me a really good explanation of what's going on in my car. Great video, and explanation
I watched your previous video and thought it was excellent. This one is even better. I appreciate your precise use of language, the many helpful details in your instructions, and your wonderful use of video recording. A few minutes ago, I applied what you show in the first video on the Jetta rear door lock problem. Now I look forward to applying the cable adjustment you teach here and seeing if it will address all the issues with the left rear door locking on my 2006 Jetta TDI. Love your work! Thank you.
Amazing. I fitted a new lock today and found the door would not open from inside or outside. 30 seconds with a right-angled pick and the door opens. What a relief. Thank you for your valuable contribution to VW owners.
Thank you so much! I have the same problem on my 09 I just had to replace the door lock actuator and have since run into this problem. I will be trying this tonight when I get home from work!
Awesome video! I have a jetta coming into my shop today that I previously replaced her broken glass on right rear. By taking the door skin off, vacuum glass and reassemble but her door now won't open from inside or outside. Saw grooves on cable and I installed it at far end, opposite of what you showed where it should be. Thank you again for great content
I had just finished watching the part 1 of this video ,and watching this is going to really help me drill down to my issue. If I am facing with the same problem for Kia, I will be so relieved to be able to fix it myself using your guidance. I will definitely give it ago and see how it goes. You are helping so many people globally to save so much money. Keep it coming. SUBSCRIBED.
Thanks to you I fix my 2010 VW Jetta. I managed to fix my car with the same issue and fixed it within 5 min, easy step by step instructions. Thank you so much I'm a subscriber now 😊
Thanks for sharing this video. I have Passat 2005 and I purchased it brand new in 2005 but I have this problem with door locks for the last couple of years now. Now I will follow your advice and try to get it fixed. You saved me a lot of work and time. Thanks again.
Such an amazing guy. Vw just as he said put everything upside-down, it's unbelievable how they do it. Thank you do much for your video, I've had both back doors not working, Thanks!!!
I have a 2000 Jetta.. watched your video and better understood.. from outside I banged the area near the assembly with just my fist.. and the moving assembly broke loose from the rust or whatever was sticking. Door opened.. then I saturated once I had the door open with lubricating penetrant. Thank you for the video!
Very much helpful, had the same issue on one of my rear passenger doors, I did exactly everything the way it was explained and now my door works thanks a million for the help ✌️
At VW they know very well what is the problem, but they refuse to fix it,instead they mount new ones.500 hundred bucks for two doors, you didnt save me because i already knew what was the problem, but you save so many who had no other choice but to pay, thank you for being generous and share this intel...all the best...
Exactly the same problem that I have on my 01VW TDI with 302, 300 miles on it, both rear doors are acting up and the passenger rear door almost never opens. The driver side just started acting up, now I have to something about it, so glad I found your video. Thank you so much.
good sir, you’re a gold mine ! I had the exact problem with the tension on that short cable and it was driving me crazy cuz i didnt knew what was the problem. Thx a million times!
Thankyou. Just tried this , as my car failed not due to rear door not opening. Looked at a few videos of replacement of whole lock including yours!! I adjusted the cable in the handle with a small head screwdriver. Took me a few minutes. And omg the door now operates!!!!!!! But I also have to press twice on my alarm key fob to access rear doors. Omg someone quoted me £300 to fix this 🤗😁😁😁😁🙏🙏🙏 It's a bit of a con scam when people say to replace the whole lock !!!!!
Dear sir, I had the same problem on my 2006 SEAT Altea. I saw your excellent explanations about the problem and was able to open the door in no time. I thank you wholeheartedly for your reassuring explanations and I'm sure others will definitely find your videos most useful.
Thank you dude! You saved my life 😂 I changed myself the rear actuator from my Jetta and it didn't work and my brain almost collapse 🤦🏻 Thank you again!
Thanks for doing a double effort. The first in the technical explanation that is brilliant and the second by using a good diction and slow English to facilitate understanding. Tomorrow I will try what I learned in a VW polo ... Thanks
This is the best car repair video on any problem that I have seen on TH-cam!! Going to try this now on my 2010 Skoda Fabia driver's door. Does anyone out there know why my electric windows open whenever I unlock the doors on this car? Used to be an intermittent thing but now it's every time! Very annoying.
Just done cv boot and new front spring due to 1 snapping. 24 hours before mot. All proud of a good job well done by myself. Car all ready to pass and as I'm cleaning up.... Rear drivers door won't open. Luckily my temper had a rare moment of success. Slap the door just below handle and it opens. Hope the mot tester doesn't accidentally lock my car before they walk around the 4 doors. This is a disgrace of a design but your vid is fabulous.
Actually I retract that. Didn't work. The cable mechanism just doesn't spring back now and there is slack when handle is released. Oh well nothings as easy as YT vids with my car. Maybe a can of petrol and a match as its getting on my ti9s
Dear Sir, I had he same problem on my VW Polo 2002. I watched your excellent explanations on the problem and I was able to open the door in no time. I thank you heartily for your reassuring explanations and I'm sure that others will definitely find your videos most helpful. I subscribed immediately and will be looking forward for other of your videos. Thanks again.
Thank you very much sir,you solved my problem I put new lock on passenger door and after that it was not open from outside, after I adjust the cable now work perfectly in and out,,,Thank you again.
Well done. Mine was intermittently not opening on the front passenger side, By using releasing spray inside the handle mechanism fixed it for me but I wouldn't have tried there without your wisdom,
Hi from England I'm going to try this with with my vw golf door tomorrow. I got it to open by doing similar but I would never of thought of adjusting the cable with that little grooves. But this makes a lot of sense. Because it will pull the lock mechanism more toward you to open the lock. I was going to order a whole new lock. One be garage said it be around £300 to fix . Thanks. I'd definitely bring my car to you if you lived closer.
Just a quick question, if you couldn't open the opposite side, how did you manage to get the handle off? as the door needs to be open in order to take the handle off for adjustment yes?
Thank you so much for your advice and excellen explanation. I hav'n solve the problem yet with my stuked door but now I have an idea to how solve it without go to a mechanic nor spent any money. I will tell you when I have fix the passenger front door of my VW Jetta. See you soon!!!
Thank you very very much, when you showed the "groves", that is what made me at last understand how the adjustments work on that shirt cable. Now I understand how to fix my Beetle 👍👍👍😁😁😁😁
Thank you. Great video, nice detail. I have a potential rear passenger side door lock/unlock issue on 2007 Rabbit 2.5l. I have the video saved so I can go back to it if needed. Much appreciated. JV.
I had this exact same problem on a 2013 VW EOS, even though it replicated these symptoms exactly it was still the actuator lock unit itself, not the handle cable position, fob battery, or any door or latch wiring .... but I did adjust the fault as shown here first just in case, but ended up replacing the actuator motor for about £25.00 off Ebay, solved the problem immediately even though the door opening and locking symptoms were exactly as shown here ..... just making you aware, good luck, but PS: if it is the actuator it is a pig of a job !
I have this on a Golf 5. The lever does not get reset all the way. Even if I put the holder pin all the way back so that it does not stretch the cable all the way. This video helped me understand the mechanism though. I can still get the door open but I might have to unmount the whole door to have a look at that module.
Excellent video. Just had this problem last week, my vw Golf MK5 door is stuck and cannot be opened either from inside or outside. Hope that I am facing this exact problem when I have time to look into the problem maybe later this week. Thank you and by the way, I thought you were a Toyota guy from your other channel.
Loved the video, great teacher. However, I released the cable as shown but still can't open the door from the inside. I even fashioned a hook from a wire coat hanger and inserted it through the hole once occupied by the cable. I can feel it pulling the lever forward and on release, the lever snaps back into position but still the inside handle won't open the door. Any ideas?
@@dirtyfork1 my 2010 scirocco won’t open from the outside and I can’t figure out why 😫 had the whole lot off today, door card, handle, lock everything. Took the mech off and it worked fine in my hands?! As soon as I re fitted it, it’s stopped working again! 😖
First of all, THANK YOU for this video! I have not been able to find an in-depth explanation of WHY my door was behaving the way it is. Very good video! I would like to know though, how you were able to tell it was the outside handle that was causing the issue, and not the inside handle? I don't want to disconnect the outside handle if that's not the one having problems. My drivers side door on my 2009 Jetta is currently stuck shut, and last week it wasn't locking. Thanks!
My mom's 2003 VW Jetta GLS driver door would not open from outside door. I took door apart and was going to replace the door latch. Well the 3 used door latches I had I tested first to make sure they lock and unlock would only lock and not unlock. I guess they were bad. Was upset the old one locked and unlocked fine. So I put it back in and hooked that little cable back in still did the same thing. So I did alittle adjusting just like you did and now it works fine. The microswitches I think are bad as the driver door little light doesn't light up but the door is working now. I need to re adjust all 4 little cables may fix my whole problem as the passenger rear kinda does the same thing and is not telling the car if the doors are open or closed.
Thanks for this video. I did not know the extent manufacturer's will go to, to prevent you from fixing your own vehicle. This downscores VW in my book. But now I know.
