It is fun watching people take the IU journey and go from I don't know who this person is to an adoring fan who is All in. I unknowingly started my IU journey when I watched the kdrama My Mister. IU plays hauntingly beautiful but e extremely sad individual, who you worry about in between watching episodes. I was have never been into kpop so I knew nothing of her. But several episodes in I started to do so research and discovered then that she was a singer. That was all she wrote. I was hook line and sinker in the tank for her. I couldn't totally figure out I reaction to her was so strong. The more I learned the deeper my appreciation and awe of her grew. I doubt that even she knows or fully understands the enormous positive impact she has on people. She more than the sum of her parts. As one youtube reactor put, she was born under a star, she is 1 in a million (a billion might be more accurate).
IU acting: on Netflix (and elsewhere) the workplace drama 'My Mister', the fantasy comedy-drama 'Hotel Del Luna', the historical soap opera 'Scarlet Heart Ryeo', the rom-com mocumentary 'The Producers', the art house experimental film 'Persona'. Plus she's got two new theatrical films in the works.
IU is such an amazing actress. Her best work is My Mister in my opinion. This drama was awarded with the best drama award AND best script award at the Baeksang arts awards 2019 (the most prestigious awards for Korean dramas) IU’s acting is immaculate there. You should definitely check that one out!! And Yes! Hotel Del Luna is another really good one. It was super popular both in Korea and overseas! And IU wore about 120 different outfits in those 16 episodes haha definitely worth checking out!
Fun fact. Because IU was soo different to the bubblegum pop that Korea was used to. Her management went to a fortune teller.. the fortune teller told them to keep IU because she will become the nation’s favourite and when that happens they must move. IU released GOOD DAY and was named Korea’s little sister, so the company packed up and moved right before a landslide demolished their old building.
Just want to wish you well in your IU journey. IU has more than enough talent to fill the stage by herself but she also loves to collaborate with artists she likes. She has actually done many collab in her career with tremendous success along the way. Glad to hear your interest in IU's drama. She has grown to be an outstanding actress. Her last two dramas, "My Mister" and "Hotel del Luna", are truly standouts that can showcase her acting skills. BTW, I don't know if you already found out that the gambling motif in the "Coin" MV is a metaphor for IU's passion in working. She finds working so addictive like gambling in her life.

Shawol here but I love IU. She’s cool, she’s charming and talented, but most of all she’s kind. I love this MV. But probably my most fave MV by IU is Above The Time. I cried the first time I saw that.

I dont know what's your genre preference, or how strong you can handle "heavy stuff", but like many uaenas here said... My Mister is her best work. As a kdrama its just sooo different from other dramas, its more like japan's human drama or k-movie. My Mister is a classic kdrama n this is not a fans' exaggeration.
