@@FillanJustmeeh Felicia I think the east coast is the best place to be (sorry WA guys) but don't just aim for Sydney. You need to travel first and experience the different cities along the east coast. Melbourne is very cultural, they love their theatres, museums and cafes. It can be cold and often you experience four seasons in one day. Sydney is go go go, everything is fast and they party hard. Summers are great and in comparison to Brisbane, winters are long. Brisbane is very laid back with a well known slogan of "Beautiful one day and perfect the next". In a nutshell, Brisbane is bloody hot with two months of cool weather. Just the fact that you have the same love for our country that we do is enough to tell me that you're an Aussie. Congratulations on making it official though.
That‘s so nice, thank you Paul! After I arrived, I made a point of not wanting to spend any time with other Germany for the first few months so I can really hone in on improving my language skills 👍
I loved your story. In 2018 I found the courage to travel alone by myself for 4 months. I created my own itinerary and just did it after my partner said he couldn't do it. We weren't created to exist entirely in a comfort zone. Stepping out and pushing ourselves is the best experience for sure. I had the most extraordinary growth spurt at age 50 while travelling. When I came home, my partner and I didn't fit anymore and we went our separate ways. I've been thriving ever since. Have a great day x
Love this comment, thanks so much for sharing, Lesley. You're exactly right with what you said about existing in a comfort zone. I once read this quote "We only grow when we're uncomfortable" and it's so true. 🙌
Hello and welcome Dan , Sydney is special and beautiful....no place on earth is perfect and black or white however my hometown is my love . Happy Mardi Gras 🌈🙏😎
I know exactly where you’re coming from Dan! I did the same aged 27 a in 1990! I just had to go to Europe! I quit my job in a family business as my late father’s disdain. Nonetheless I backpacked through Asia, as in Turkey, through then USSR, some 33 European countries over almost 6 months. Thought I got it out of my system but subsequently have done 6 trips to Europe , each time back to germ, but not the length of my first time. Last time in 2015/16 I took my then teenage daughter & son. We had 6 weeks away. An awesome trip for my children but more so for me being with them. A footnote. One of m6 best friends for the last 30 years, Juergen from Kempten outside Munich has been to Australia some 4 times. Once with his then girlfriend Ingrid who is now his wife of some 25 years. They came back with their teenage girls in 2014. Their eldest Selena came back only 2 years ago & stayed almost 12 months! She wants to at least come back if not move here too! Awesome video Dan & welcome to Australia the country that takes a lifetime to explore and 27 years to go to one of the 10,000+ different beaches around Australia each day.
Dan, I came across your video in my feed. I am from Sydney and feel you captured the feeling of the city really well. It's a beautiful video with calming music, although a side note is that you speak very calmly as well. Yes, there is a slight Australian accent creeping in but I think your voice would be universally understood (which I isn't always the case for some Australians). Glad you love Sydney. It has an outdoor and nature filled lifestyle that I miss in some other cities. Birds and all the crazy creatures are plentiful. On the flip side, I fell in love with Berlin the first time I went there. It has a charm that possibly, after going back several times might change with the seasons. I am not sure if I would survive a winter there, but at least triple glazing and decent heating would solve part of that.
Thank you so much for your message, Glenn. Really appreciate your kind words! I'm glad to hear you went back to Berlin several times. When I lives there I never wanted someone to come visit me during winter, at least not for the first time. Berlin in summer has a very unique vibe that I do miss sometimes.
@@DanJacobs ahh yes 2 of the 3 times I went were in summer. However I took my Japanese wife back to Berlin the last time I was there (here first) and we were struck by rain and clouds every day. I had hyped up the city and she couldn't see what I had seen due to the weather change. In this regard, both Sydney and Berlin are cities that sparkle when the sun is out and I am sure tourists see exactly this. Riding through Berlin on a bike in summer is magical. The Tiergarten alone could take ones attention for a full day soaking up the sun.
Wow, Dan. Your Aussie accent is really starting take hold! Soon people won't believe you're from Germany at all, a bit like JenDre [German Girl in London] who was frequently accused of being an impostor because of her impressive London accent. Please keep going with your videos. A very popular meme is 'things I found surprising/weird/wonderful in my new country'. It might not be all you want to do, but those videos tend to be quite popular, especially among people toying with the idea of moving to a new country.
What a compliment, thank you Michael!! 🙌 I‘m working hard to get rid of the German accent lol Usually people say they get European but not German right away which is as good as it gets, I think 😅 Have thought about the „surprising things“ theme. Maybe I can incorporate this into one of my upcoming vlogs. Thanks so much for watching, mate
In just a short 4 years, a tiny bit of Aussie accent could already be detected in your speech. Good choice in making Sydney your home. Well done for the great video.

Epic drone shots! Enjoyed hearing your story. I went on a similar journey leaving the U.K. for Melbourne. After a year, during the pandemic, I returned to England and have since not been sure it was the right idea. Well done for being brave with your decision!
Hi mate! Thanks so much for your message. You should have stayed for sure!! Especially during this time, I feel really lucky that I'm here and that we have a sense of normality.
I really liked Germany overall but Berlin felt a bit tired to me, the coach station was a bit rundown and the toilets were shabby with some guy collecting payment. Cologne and Munich much better I feel. Germany like Austria, Switzerland, Czech etc suffer from lack of coastline compared to their neighbours which sucks if you live beach sports.
Thanks, Glenn. Totally agree. I like your comment there about the toilets lol. Public toilets in Germany are never really clean and they still make you pay.
Welcome to my birth city, there is so much to see across this magnificent country if ours, my home city Perth and WA are beautiful too, come an see us some time, meanwhile welcome wherever you settle ♥️🇦🇺👍
Thanks for this video, like it so much 🙃 That’s precisely what I'm considering for a quite long time.🙈 And your video just encouraged me more, not to be afraid and make this move.✈️
Was muss ich beachten? Welche Voraussetzungen muss man mitbringen?
Leave it with me, ich plane das ein. 😊🇦🇺
Lovely video & good on you for taking a leap of faith, I can’t think of a better place than Australia to live, I may be biased as I’m a Sydneysider Lol
The Gold Coast is great, for sure! I came here on a working holiday and then went on a student visa. The permanent residency I got via a partner visa as I am married to an Australian. Generally, during the pandemic I learned how much Australia is relying on immigration so I'm thinking it might actually be slightly less difficult for people to come here once borders reopen. 🙌
Wow Dan congratulations! greetings from Colombia! I want to move to Berlin to take a Master's degree and live there afterwards, but I have watched a lot of comments of germans attitude (about complaining and their cold attitude) and also the weather jejeje! . Coincidentally, Australia (Sydney) is my other option. I am really confused about what would be the best! what do you recommend me?
Thanks so much, Julian! Great to hear about your plans. What you hear about Berlin is not wrong, but the city has a very unique vibe and you adjust and not everyone is like that. Us Germans, we need a little while to warm up to others 😊 Australians on the other hand are largely very welcoming and I am personally a big fan of that but Sydney is definitely less edgy or arty compared to Berlin. You see I have a love for both.
You are so right, Vivi. It‘s not easy but throughout Covid I realised how much Australia actually relies on immigration. So I feel that maybe there will be some more opportunities in the future.
Nice video mate, but don't operate video drones in Controlled Airspace in Sydney. I've lived here for 72 years, and my great great great grandfather was transported to Sydney from Ireland in 1818.
Now, I am wondering why so many foreigners living here, and there seem to be fewer Australian-born people living here now. I know our population growth has slowed down but wow, so many foreigners coming here. Australia is so expensive, hot and cold. Also, people say we are the racists people on earth and still, foreigners come here to live. lmaoooo
It's such a beautiful place and I find there is a very unique sense of community in Australia. No country is perfect but this one is for sure amongst the top 👍
@@stevenhenderson40 I am glad you are not racists, I am also glad you are happy with all races. That makes you live a lot better and stops the BS. :) I find a few races that are racist and even the ones from these background children and grandchildren are also racists. A true Australian isn't actually racists. I, however, don't trust certain races with my back turn or in business situations but I still have those races as friends but still wont turn my back on them etc. Its just it always ends the same way with these certain race doesnt matter who they are or how long I been friends with them.
This dude is a babe. I would've married you to get you citizenship! Anyway, you're one of us now mate. Welcome to being an Aussie! I imagine your accent will start to change slowly, and you'll start using Aussie idioms without even noticing.

@@DanJacobs I left in august when both countries were similar... I didn’t realise most of Europe would do a horrible job compared to Aus 😅
@Neil Collis for sure! 🙌
Dear Dan...try Palm Beach and especially Pittwater in Sydney...enjoy the most beautiful city in the world...
Thanks so much Peter! I love Palm Beach, would love to go up more often. 🌤
Great vid mate 👍
Thanks so much, Mike! Really appreciate it. 🙌
Thank you! 😊 Perth and WA are high on my list but I don‘t think I will make any plans as long as the border situation is so uncertain. 😌
Beautifully said Dan !! Love it !
Thanks so much 🙌
love, Love LOVE this DJ
Thanks so much, Peta! Did you find yourself in the photos at the end? ☺️
cool videos mate. keep them coming
Thanks so much! Glad you're enjoying them 🙌
Thanks for this video, like it so much 🙃 That’s precisely what I'm considering for a quite long time.🙈 And your video just encouraged me more, not to be afraid and make this move.✈️
Thank you so so much, Maria. 🙌 This made my day. You have to let me know how you‘re going with the move. 🌏
Was muss ich beachten? Welche Voraussetzungen muss man mitbringen?
Leave it with me, ich plane das ein. 😊🇦🇺
CONGRATULATIONS we have a new patriotic aussie. As german people are very much integrated into Australian lifestyle.
Thanks so much 🙌
That was a really beautiful video! You are very talented. Great Southern Land - I don't want to live anywhere else.
Thanks so much, Susan. Really appreciate your lovely comment. 🙌
Lovely video & good on you for taking a leap of faith, I can’t think of a better place than Australia to live, I may be biased as I’m a Sydneysider Lol
It's easy to be biased about Sydney :) It is for sure the most beautiful place I've ever lived 🙌
an awesome vlog! 👍
Love this DJ!
Thanks so much, Shani!! 😊 Glad you liked it
Well done, keep up the amazing work!
Thanks so much, Joshua! Really glad you liked it

very inspiring man you did the right thing i lived in kanada for a year best choice ever :D
🇨🇦👏
Super Video👍
Viele Grüße aus Sydney
Vielen lieben Dank! Freut mich, dass es dir gefallen hat 🙌
I was hoping this video was "how I moved to OZ in 2021" I am so over Berlin!
Sorry about that, made that jump 4 years ago already 😌
@@DanJacobs haha no problem :D I left anyway, will make it to Australia at some point :)
Amazing! ❤️🤟
Thank you so much 🙌 Glad you liked it
Good video‼️
Thanks so much, mate. Really appreciate your feedback 🙌
Hopefully forever , your an Aussie now
Forever, for sure. Thanks Craig 🙌
What visa did you get to move to australia? I live in Zürich and can't take the life here anymore. Want to move to the gold coast...
Welcome to gods country you will of course have to stay , the best video from an obviously very talented person .
You're too kind. Thanks so much, Tom! I don't have any plans to leave, I'm in love with this place.
@@DanJacobs Dan thank you so much! Your content inspires me to embark on my journey!
What a man enjoy ya stay here
Thank you!
Take care :)
😊😊 Fantastic new logo by the way
Welcome to Australia Deutschebro
Thanks, bro. I appreciate it 🙌
@@DanJacobs yep it's all beer and beaches for you now =)
@@DanJacobs ABSOLUT PERFEKT!
It sounds so easy but it’s actually quite difficult to get a visa for Australia... you need to have the right job and so on..
You are so right, Vivi. It‘s not easy but throughout Covid I realised how much Australia actually relies on immigration. So I feel that maybe there will be some more opportunities in the future.
❤❤❤
Thanks so much, Matthew!! 🙌
Wow you are even started to sound Australian
Oh wow, thanks so much 🙌
Nice video mate, but don't operate video drones in Controlled Airspace in Sydney. I've lived here for 72 years, and my great great great grandfather was transported to Sydney from Ireland in 1818.
Thanks a lot, Phil No worries, I always check 👍
you would make a great bass player, go slap that bass!
Not sure what makes you think that, but thank you :)
👍
Thanks so much!!
Wow Aussie accent
Thank you so much!!
Such a brave decision.Moving to a new country by oneself.
I thought Europe was better than Australia.
Congrats, Dan. You did yourself a big favor
Thank you for your kind words! Both Europe and Australia have their perks, for sure.
@@stevenhenderson40 thats my point. I actually find that new comers in the 3 decades are the racists that give Australia and Australians a bad name
@@stevenhenderson40 I am glad you are not racists, I am also glad you are happy with all races. That makes you live a lot better and stops the BS. :)
I find a few races that are racist and even the ones from these background children and grandchildren are also racists. A true Australian isn't actually racists. I, however, don't trust certain races with my back turn or in business situations but I still have those races as friends but still wont turn my back on them etc. Its just it always ends the same way with these certain race doesnt matter who they are or how long I been friends with them.
Every potential immigrant should watch these videos.
Thanks so much, Michael 🙏
This dude is a babe. I would've married you to get you citizenship! Anyway, you're one of us now mate. Welcome to being an Aussie! I imagine your accent will start to change slowly, and you'll start using Aussie idioms without even noticing.
Thanks so much and I appreciate the offer 😊
