I can personally attest to its stability. It is insane! My Dad is considering getting one after I showed him some videos of you using it. This vid may seal the deal!
Nice video Justin. I like the uncluttered deck. I had a Hobie that was loaded but it felt like I was cramped in the middle of all that stuff. I like the looks of the seat. I fish out of a Ranger bass boat and I'm used to standing up.
Good review, Justin! I just placed an order for a Zulu pedal drive unit yesterday (4/22/24). You touched on all of the features that made the Zulu the best choice for me. I'm an older guy with some back issues, so the seat configuration will make it easier for me to on & off-board and should be more comfortable. Also, if the color you want shows to be unavailable on their website, they have more coming within the next couple of weeks. Just hit them up on the chat and they'll add what you want so you can place your order. You'll just have to wait a couple of weeks.
Appreciate your review and pros and cons. Some aspects I like about the Kaku, but the Bonafide SS127 (non pedal version) I feel is a better buy for features and stability.
How's your Zulu doing. I've been thinking of getting one. To do some Bass fishing I live in Florida about 45mins from KaKu headquarters in Tarpon. The motorized model not available Motorguide discontinued motor. I do have a 36" shaft minnkota handheld I can use as a replacement.
Been going strong for over a year!!! Handheld will be fine lots of guys run them. But I highly recommend the haswing motor. Hands free is a gamechanger to be able stand up and navigate
I've decided I'm getting a Zulu for sure, I was set on a pedal but then saw your motor set up price. I was going to put a motor on it regardless considering you can just take out the pedal drive, put the cover on and add a seat (or keep deck space) and it basically becomes the basic model, but I'm curious how long your battery lasts. Can you get a full days fishing out of that? I don't really care about speed or spot lock, just something that I can use for 3-4 hours without having to have to worry about paddling back to the dock.
I have been on multiple 8hr trips and still keep around 30% battery. Now with that being said I can burn through it faster if I'm just full throttle all the time. But normal fishing situations I've never had to worry about it
@@csilva6 got the hitch extender from harbor freight. Makes everything easier. I put a foam noodle on the bar and carpet over that ziptied. So it slides easy without scratching
@charlestafoya1947 very stable! I should also add it's not like it blows ypu away just changes your direction. This is only when paddling With motor or pedal drive you'd hardly notice it at all!
@whoisfishinpanda1572 I just turn around sit on the back of seat and lower it or pull it up. I know not everyone will be able to do that. But that's how I do it
Yes I do and I recently upgraded it a little bit. I added a metal rack between the legs the make it more sturdy and prevent the rod holders from rotating. Just attached the mounts to the rack The racks are oven trays from Walmart Rodholders also came from Walmart. Just ziptied to the seat legs
If its the main location where you can try them out. You should go they'll let you test them out. The owner is super cool guy tell Kevin xtraordinary fishing sent you
The big fish 103 was to bulky and slow. I loved the big fish for being short and stable. But unfortunately I had tons of issues while owning. Different parts of the drive falling apart. Rudder issues. Thin plastic in parts of hull. The hull cracked at the rudder and I sank barely made it shore in time. I really like the hull of the big fish line but they have to get there parts a little better. They had great customer service. But what's the point when something is broke every other month. The Kaku is a much more pleasant experience for my type of fishing. I use a transom motor when bass fishing. No rudder to worry about. No drive to fight with. When fishing salt flats. This thing paddles amazing and I can stand in the seat and use a push pole. The stability in this thing is crazy and I like the open front deck
I'm going tomorrow to demo, what size paddle do you use or recommend, I like the open design so will wait to decide on the pedal drive, do you have a review of your motor setup?
250cm / 98in as a minimum the seat is pretty higher so longer the better. Plus it makes it easier to paddle standing in the seat if you have a long paddle

This looks like an amazing and super versatile rig.

Thanks for the review. Do you need to secure the chair or is it fine as is on the deck?
Its very secure. It never moves while driving 75mph. on a track system. 2 twist knobs and it can slide back and forth

is that a ford maverick? got one as well, was considering a hitch extender as well if needed

Great video, how does it do when it gets windy. I saw you said it can be blown around. Is it stable when windy

How have I not found your fishing channel? Seems your here in my neck of the woods. Love the videos.
Thanks! From SETX glad you enjoy the videos
Great review. My mid has a Voodoo so I know what to expect :)
What setup do you have to raise and lower the motor when transition ling from deep to shallow?
@whoisfishinpanda1572 I just turn around sit on the back of seat and lower it or pull it up. I know not everyone will be able to do that. But that's how I do it
I think this would be the perfect setup for my shallow river!
I use it a ton in the river/bayous. I stand on the seat and sightfish bowfin in the backwaters of the river.
Sweet set up brother! Doesn't look like it comes with the trolling motor mount on the back. What did you use to mount it?
The Kaku transom mount from their website. But Any transom mount that matches the same "powerpole bolt pattern" amazon has a few as well
Do you have that horizontal pole holder mounted to the seat legs?
Yes I do and I recently upgraded it a little bit. I added a metal rack between the legs the make it more sturdy and prevent the rod holders from rotating. Just attached the mounts to the rack
The racks are oven trays from Walmart
Rodholders also came from Walmart. Just ziptied to the seat legs
I have them on both sides keep 3 rods forward and 3 on the other side pointed backwards to dodge depth finder
@@XtraordinaryFishing that’s a really good idea, thanks. How long do those trays have to be to mounted to the seat?

How is this for saltwater would you take it offshore
@thevernonposse It could probably handle it. But I personally wouldn't. maybe try there new 14ft kayak the Kaku guru
Like to see a review of this vs a Nucanoe Unlimited
🤜🤛
We do have promos sometimes, but that’s usually in the slow season.
Awesome reviews. Saw this brand when searching for kayaks. Also live 30mins from There warehouse too

Is the material good like old town? Thick and strong?
some of the clips show you in a big fish, which one would you say is better?

Which motor mount did you use to mount the Haswing?
The Kaku transom mount
Damn. Think you sold me brother lol.
What chair is that, she is using?
Larry chair from amazon

Sorry I didn't get this to you sooner let me know how demo went
Demo went really well, ordered the winter camo, should get it next week, really impressed with it, Kevin ad the paddles in stock, can wait.
Its not pretty light, at all
And it’s tough to carry with two people because the rudder gets in the way
Compared to other big name kayaks similar size it's lighter
