Very good audio this time.i can hear you both clear as day. CC picks up every word correctly, so no more unintentional comedy in the subtitles.

It would be nice if you did a video, on how the alexander techinque came to be...

It's a nice idea, but maybe best to read this. Alexander wrote about how he discovered the Technique in his book, "The Use of the Self".I wrote the introduction!

    Hi, Anthony.
I’ve had many AT lessons. I find your approach inspiring but I don’t understand your “nothing to correct” comment. If you’re not correcting then what are you trying to do for your client in a lesson?

Great question. of course we want some changes. But with this way of working, we are seeking changes that arise from the organic self. That is, self-regulation without any artificial trying and effecting. It's a paradox really. When we try and change, this interferes with healthy change. But when we manage to stop trying so hard to change, then real change can occur. Sounds crazy, but I hope you get the idea...

@@AlexanderTechnique33 Yes, that makes sense. It’s letting a human’s autopilot return to a healthier mode of operation. “Doing” this doesn’t work - that’s not the autopilot.
I’ve often found that, after a few weeks of semi supine, I do everyday tasks more efficiently without consciously planning to. I especially have the experience of a more logical coordination; my limbs and hands magically seem to be better positioned for the task in hand. That's really wierd, and quite cool!
I'll be resuming lessons next month after a long break. My first teacher years ago was Vivien Mackie, which was hugely fortunate.
If I’m ever in London, I’ll look you up. All the best.

The lessons work towards the capacity to self-regulate on one's own.
