this is such a useful video! i've just started doing alevel psychology and am absolutely loving it, but i've been stuck between planning on going into clinical psychology or primary school teaching (different, i know) and this has really helped
Hello, i'm interested in psychology and going down those paths as well, could you give me some advice on how to choose between them? It would be helpful for me, thank you.
This is single handedly the best explanation video I have watched, hopefully with your advice you can help get me from BSc psychology to DCLinPsy if this is the route I choose to go down, great video, thank you!
Thank you, great video. I’m a school nurse wanting a change of direction and it’s been difficult to work out online exactly what path I would take but you have made it simple for me.
Thank you so much! I'm currently pursuing my undergrad in India, and would love to work in the UK, and was very much hyperventilating thinking about what to do. You helped me so much!
thank you for this video. I'm aiming to apply for this course in 2026 but did not want to change job roles. My role currently entails supervision as I work with individuals who have complex needs and I think this will work well for my application.Such useful information ❤
Hi Sharon, firstly congratulations on getting onto the doctorate first time round! And thanks so much for sharing your journey with us so authentically. :) I wondered if you could do a short video on your top tips for the DClin application questions and ideas for structuring the personal statement section? I know there isn't a one size fits all but it's helpful hearing different perspectives from those who've been successful at being shortlisted and how you structured answers. :)
Thank you so much!! I am starting my DClinPsy series next week, so stay tuned for that! I'll have videos on each step of the process, including the application!

Hi Sharon, I am looking to do a MSc in Clinical Psychology in the UK with my Canadian Bachelor's degree. I am having trouble understanding the impact of the BPS-accreditation on the various programs I am interested in. Would you be able to explain the BPS-accreditation to me? Why or why not would a university program be previously accredited?
Hi, Sharon, thank you for the video and I really like it! I was wondering if you provide any paid proofreading or tutorials on writing Personal statement?
Hello, here in Belgium, you do a 3y Bachelors in Psychology & then a 2y Masters to become a clinical psychologist and get a license. But in the UK, you have to do a DClinPsy to be able to work as a clinical psychologist if I understood correctly. So this means, after I get approved my degree by the BPS in the UK, I have to pass the IELTS, apply for DClinPsy & complete the course to be able to finally work as a clinical psychologist in the UK. How long is the DClinPsy course ?
Thank you so much for this video 🤍 Love all the videos you make 🧚♀️ As an aspiring clinical psychologist, I would like to ask you if it’s alright to do a Masters course in order to gain knowledge and experience and then apply for DClinPsy once you are confident ?
great so if I want to turn my bachelors hons degree in integrative counselling into a psychology career my next steps are, psychology conversion masters which will be like if my bachelors was in psychology all along. I guess the overlap will help vs if it was a completly different degree as they train us on the founders of various therapies and alot of them were psychologists etc. But after conversion degree then its straight to dclinpsy if going that route? just so i've understood correctly. My original bachelors is a 2:1 so does that mean skip masters or does it have to be the conversion that needs to be 2:1 etc not sure my question makes much sense out loud. Think i might be following you on instagram your day in the life of videos really kool :)
Hey, how do I prepare for the selection test ? What skills do I have to brush up on ? Also … is a Teaching assistant role working and supervising with children with autism/Down syndrome etc count as relevant work experience?
Thank you very much for this video, I had a question while watching this video, is the supervision course included in the university program or not? Does that mean you don't pay extra money to the supervisor? Because in my country, the supervision course is not part of the university program and we have to pay extra money and get a supervisor after finishing our studies, which means that in my country, apart from the university tuition, we have to pay for the supervisor as well. I wanted to know Is your country the same?
I worked as a support worker and then as assistant psychologist and after that now I have been working as a forensic mental health practioner is this enough?
hey, i wanted to ask if you could explain the recent HEE changes that have been implemented? and what those mean, for DClin psy applications, and NHS funded jobs such as : Clinical Associate Psychologist or PWP?
Hii, I'm in yr12 and I'm interesting in becoming a clinical psychologist, do u have any tips on work experience/volunteering place which I can go into and other extracuracullar.
I finished my Bachelor's in psychology and want to apply for a Master's in clinical psychology in the UK. Can you share information about universities that offer this program, considering my GPA is 2.91?Im an international student
Hi Sharon. My name is Shreya and I want to become a clinical psychologist. I will start my first year of Uni this year in September and I live in the UK. So I just wanted to ask a little question. Is it possible for me to gain these work experiences that you have mentioned in this video during my undergrad years instead of after getting my degree, in order for me to apply for the doctorate?
For assistant psychologist jobs you need an undergrad degree. Other jobs e.g. support workers, healthcare assistants don’t need this so you can apply for these jobs whilst at uni :)
If one had an interest in space medicine and mental health what might be the area of psychology in the uk might need to look at I keep seeing 'operational psychology' but not sure that is a catagory to specialise in does that mean anything to you can you clear up for me thanks
I'm currently graduated in psychology from Pakistan, want to do master in UK as international student, make sure any like clinical, education, organisational but most priority in clinical should be one year BCS on year master is less tuition fee.recommend me affordable universities?
Hey I have one question. I am from India and I really want to do this course. But will I get salary/Stipend while pursuing the course? If yes how much they pay you? My main concern is this only that I will be able to pay the cost of the course or not. If they will pay me while doing the course I will surely apply for it.
You do get paid yes, around £30,000 a year whilst doing the doctorate when on placement. I’m not aware if the same applies for those who are not a home student (a resident of the UK). If you are a home student, the doctorate is NHS-funded so that means no student loans:)

Hi! I am doing B.A. Hons. in Applied Psychology from India and my medium of study is English. Next I want to study DClinPsy from UK. What is the eligibility criteria for me to get selected with scholarship?
You will need to do a conversion course if your degree is not Bps accredited and 1 or 2 years of work experience in mental health-related area jobs to get into DClinPsy in UK
This such a helpful video, thank you! Do you recommend taking a placement year during my bachelors for experience? If so, what sort of experience would I enroll for?
Hi! I don't know if this is helpful but I'm a 3rd year psychology undergrad that's currently on placement right now, and it's enabled me to learn so much about what it's like being an assistant psychologist, what the clinical psychologists do and what skills are needed. It's also allowed me to meet some really amazing people in the field and talk to them about how they got to where they are. I'm not as familiar with the DClinPsy as Sharon but I would 100% recommend a placement year if you can get one in a relevant field, even if it just helps you to figure out what you do/don't want to do in the future :)

I'm not as familiar with the DClinPsy as Sharon but I would 100% recommend a placement year if you can get one in a relevant field, even if it just helps you to figure out what you do/don't want to do in the future :)
please what GCSES should i take to be a psychologist ?
doesn't matter just do well in english and maths if psychology gcse isnt available then take psychology in a levels
^^ I agree GCSEs subjects really aren’t that important, just the grades A level subjects are more important alongside grades just do what you enjoy but do well in maths English and science
