Modern sonic in general is just so hollow. the meta sonic games are some of the most boring sonic games i've ever played. how some people regard this as the "best sonic game" is beyond me.

the werehog stages are very long, with slow and boring combat compared to other games like devil may cry, and on top of that you are forced to replay the super long stages to get collectibles that you didn't get to play the next stage

My opinion of course, I find the night stages good to revisit. Either to relieve stress by pummeling the bad guys or by just taking in the atmospheric setting and vibing to the music.

This project must've been very hard to accomplish, i am really impressed with this. The day stages are just like i remember them which is amazing to see. The night stages do feel different, i have hope that you'll add the combat system soon in the future, as the speed combined with pure werehog combat would be INSANE to play. Ah yes, sonic unleashed just like i remember! Without the world map, no hub worlds for each continent, no GoW styled combat for the werehog (although some people might prefer it that way), no XP system and no QTE. Yep! That's the full Sonic Unleash experience

Would def recommend getting a 100% save file and run it at 720p 60fps upscaled cause it forces only 720p or 2k. If you run it at 2k you'll get flash banged. I wish I was kidding. Yes there is a mod to fix it but I find the higher res affects frames and in a game like unleashed you'll want higher frames (yes ik the game ran at 30fps on og hardware but times have changed and I'm a sweat). There are a few tutorials on how to set it up and I'd recommend watching the longer ones as it goes into much better depth than trying to set it up quickly

I mean, that and the enemy in Dragon Road and Jungle Joyride, only getting one extra life instead of one every hundred rings, and respawning laser enemies like in Rooftop Run (they are replaced, not respawned. Also the laser patterns don't feel quite right.) Sorry for being a nerd about this lol

I mean, I don't know if people are wrong just because Sonic got plopped in a level not suited for his physics. Personally I'd rather they used the dev time to put two or three more daytime stages in the game than the never ending werehog stages.
Not sure how I feel about the werehog not being combat focused. Yes, kind of out of character for Sonic, but it was fun in it's own right. That being said, I can't undermine the effort placed in this fan project. It looks exactly like Unleashed. Looks like it plays exactly like Unleashed as well. Great job to the dedicated fans/indie developers that put their heart and soul into this mod.

I remember when i tried to S rank every stage on this game, there was one stage that i just had the most difficult time trying to S rank and never could at the time and it was the 3rd to finale stage i think, it was an eggmans base or something i remembering i had to frame perfect everything i could not get hit or slow down to get a perfect it was so intense that my nerves were shot trying to do it

I understand that this is done in gens and a lot of ppl don't like the werehog but to me, the werehog pretty much being daytime sonic but with the werehog sprite is disappointing cos I expected to see unleash werehog or as close to it as possible but it ain't. I enjoyed both day and nighttime stages in unleashed and the combat for the werehog I really liked so to see the werehog change like this makes me think they should've just kept the project strictly day stages

I would say the only thing that is missing is the enemy physics when boosting through them. Getting SO close 👌
This is a remake in th generations engine not an entirely new game so physics can't really be updated I believe

This video is a prime example of why people were wrong about the werehog. Without the combat and slower speed, these stages are nothing burgers.
These stages are actually more akin to the PS2 and Wii warehog stages which weren’t bad.
