    I love the look of this video. How did you get everything other than the kit blacked out and invisible?

      Thank you! So I'm doing quite a lot of post production: I have the camera settings set in a way to get as wide of a dynamic range as possible, then I'm doing additional color grading in Premiere Pro. I have a black curtain all around me, but to get that blacked out look, there's some post processing contrast adjustments and specific masking techniques I'm doing within Premiere Pro.

    superb young man i am a 64 year old bloke who has recently taken to drumming just for fun could only dream of reaching your standard way to old now of coarse i have a question for you i have presonas studio artist when i bring in superior drummer three why cant i play with drum sticks only the mouse works or is that just the way it is or is it way more complicated than that lol

      You need to check your DAW settings and make sure your MIDI device is enabled within Studio One. It also depends on what module you're using. For example, I'm using a Roland TD-30 that is connected to my computer via USB. I also have the TD-30 USB drivers installed so my computer will recognize the incoming MIDI from the module. You also have to make sure your drum module MIDI output is enabled. On the Roland TD-30, there's a specific setting that turns on or off the USB MIDI output. There's a lot of variables here, but if you check each place mentioned above, you should hopefully be able to find the missing piece and get this working.
      One suggestion would be to use the Superior Drummer 3 stand alone app and try getting it working there first rather than in Studio One. You can go into the Superior Drummer 3 settings and for me I just enable the Roland TD-30 as my MIDI device. If you're using an audio interface and you've connected it with a MIDI cable, you need to enable that audio interface as your MIDI device. (Be sure to install the audio interface drivers so your computer recognizes the device). But trying it first within the Superior Drummer 3 stand alone removes the DAW variable and may be a better place to start. Not to mention you can perform, record, mix and export audio all within Superior Drummer 3 itself, it's almost a DAW in and of itself. Hope this helps!

      @@DrumangleOfficial thankyou very much for taking the time to reply to my question i have followed you advice and can now bring sd3 into my daw but i now wonder why i can only play drums with the mouse and not with drum sticks on my own drum kit or is that just the way it works.

    So good Luke!! Your left hand is really developing well!!! Is there something you do specifically to get that feel? Also, I've noticed you've been lifting weights, have you noticed any changes in your technique as you've bulked up? I used to do crossfit until I accidently dropped a kettle ball on my right foot and had to take 10 months off of drumming....needless to say my wife was not happy at all. Not a 5 pound kettle ball either.....20 POUNDS!!!! Holy crap that hurt. Anyway, keep up the great videos and watch out for kettle balls and cougars in the gym!!!

      Thank you, appreciate the compliments!
      When I actually get time to practice these days, I typically will play a series of rudimental exercises consisting of singles and doubles. I practice and play more double stroke related rudiments than anything else, just because I like the applications on the drum set. I'll also pick a specific rudiment and specific rhythmic rate (for example, the six stroke roll or paradiddle diddles and 16th note triplets) and improvise on all kinds of variations. This then translates directly to the drum kit.
      As for working out, I don't feel this impedes on my technique or drumming at all. In fact, if anything I feel like it helps my drumming. If you work out consistently and don't over do it, I've found that it affects all aspects of life in a positive way, including drumming.

      Thank you so much Mike!! I really appreciate that, I spent some time on this mix because Dave Weckl's albums and drum mixes are at such a high level of quality, it is intimidating to release a cover of his songs, not to mention of course trying to create a good performance. I won't ever be at his level of mixing or playing, I can only try to emulate and give a nod to his level of excellence.
      I hope you're doing well my friend!

    just wondering why you always rotate the hats ...is it the trigger..?

    • @mochs3869
      @mochs3869 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most e-hats only have the trigger zone opposite the logo (my Roland VH-11s are the same way), so he keeps rotating the hats back around so he's hitting the trigger zone. I used a pair of vice grips to really tighten the rod on my hat stand - others will use some Loc-Tite or some kind of thread locker to keep the rod from spinning.
