Анни-Фрид просто сногосшибательна. Насколько она артистична. Все песни, где лидирует ее потрясающий вокал просто шедевральны. Хочется смотреть на ее красивое выразительное лицо - ее эмоциональность, шарм неповторимы.

Nice to see you really enjoy this ABBA classic and amazing Frida lead vocal as well! Nice observation about the difference with this video compared to the ones they had done previously up to this point (1976). The mood with the darker scenes and the close ups of Frida looking like a secret agent with the dark hat on and her peering out from under the brim does give this video a different sort of mood. And I love Frida’s total commitment to not just singing the song, but, “performing” it as well through her facial expressions and also her movements. I do think this is one of their more enjoyable videos because it’s actually illustrating much of the actual message of the song. When compared to say “Mamma Mia” which is a more fun type of vidI I really enjoyed this reaction vid the most so far out of your ABBA reactions I’ve watched so far (“Waterloo””SOS”, “Mamma Mia”, “Dancing Queen” and “Knowing Me Knowing You). I’m on to the next of your ABBA reactions and then on to whichever one is after that one. Hopefully you’ll continue your ABBA reactions with the same open and objective perspective because it’s refreshing and enjoyable to see.

ABBA is an unexplainable phenomenon of the music industry.....appealing to people from 2 to 92 years old, and with taxi drivers from Tehran to Toronto, tuning in to their music.

Also that "stupid"y Money... Still so relevant. Well they did get - many, many monies, they are spending it on the new ABBA Arena... For the fans, they didn't need to do anything, but somehow after 40 years they were stupid enough to makeba new album and a new show... Thank you ABBA.

Hi Hap, I am more fascinated with old music due to influence of my auntie and brother - ABBA is such a wonderful band. I also like the song Dancing Queen and Mamma Mia. Thank you for your great reaction. Love it🙂.

This came out just as I was leaving Primary School in 1976.. they look so fresh faced, hard to believe it's 45 years since then.. Underrated song. $1 back was worth a crap load more than it is now.. lets blame the producer for that wee mistake...

One of the best songs to hear the contrast between Frida and Agnetha’s voices. The video intricacies where the music is timed to Parts of the video is actually quite ahead of its time.

How nice to see you on a Sunday with two new ABBA videos
    both from the album "Arrival"
(I see that you are following the historical correlation)
the two with the leading voice of Frida
(has more brilliance in this album)
"Money money money" was the single that had the responsibility of succeeding the super hit "Dancing Queen"
was # 1 in several countries, in England it was # 3
ABBA always bet not to repeat itself and to contrasts, and this is an example
The song is in the style of cabaret, it lends itself very well to Frida's low-pitched voice, and the backing vocals are very catchy.
The video is very good, it is the first different from ABBA, it alternates images of the 'jet set' with the four premiering their iconic kimono suits

You’re right. It’s story telling like a mini film. I think those dark spotlight moments are there as the character’s thoughts to herself of greed, scheming and determination. It’s her dream. but it’s not a happy one. ...yet.
And yeah I get a James Bond title music vibe from this song.

I like this one. You couldn't avoid alot of popular music back then. Commuting to and from work or school everyday turn on the radio to find out what is going on with the traffic and there it was 🙂 It has all the right formula to make you like and remember it. On the other hand the radio did the same thing with "Send in the Clowns" and I hated it. A different formula on that song.

Like your father, my parents were also ABBA fans, it's their generation (I remember, they had records) but my first memories of their songs is going to amusement park many times when I was a kid and while spinning on the merry-go-round ABBA's and Boney M's music was blasting through the speakers! 😊 Every single time! On TV, Radio, ABBA was everywhere! Maybe that's how you too know their songs, at some point in time you just had to hear it somewhere, they were hit-makers like you said..And money was a song theme before this one..Remember, "Money makes the world go round, the world go round.." (Liza Minelli, "Cabaret") so I guess, people are fascinated with Money almost as with Love - it's hard to live without it, it can make you happy but also unhappy (money and love)

Nice reaction! I just want to point out that Abba never was a "disco-group".
They did one very disco influenced album, Voulez vous but on their other albums were not much disco.
For instance Mamma Mia, SOS, Name of the game, Knowing me Knowing you are pop songs. The Winner takes it all a pop ballad.
They did songs in a lot of genres. Here are some examples: psychedelic (Eagle), reggae (Tropical loveland), cabaret? (money, money money), ballads (Andante Andante, Happy New Year, Thank you for the music and many more,), rock (Rock me, Tiger, Hole in your soul), country? (Why did it have to be me, Another town Another train), classic/instrumental (Intermezzo nr 1, Arrival) and progressive rock (I am a marrionette/ The visitors).

This is a really well written song. And I hadn’t put together that the darkness in the song may be why it’s one of my favorite ABBA songs.
If the internet is to be believed, UK wages are about 7x higher now than in 1976.

I find it kind of ironic that Frida sings this song. Did she have some sort of crystal ball? After her divorce from Benny, she did find her rich man (a Prince) and che actually thus became a Princess and when he died, her fortune climbed vastly (that is not to say that any of the four members of ABBA are/were poor). And from what I understand, her current partner is a Viscount, so yeah, she did find her rich men!

Thanks for the ABBA. Your dad sounds like a smart man. Probably happy too. I don't see how anybodt can say they dislike ABBA. I mean they did like every genre. It's kinda like saying you dislike music. Even with what you've reacted too, how many genres has it been. You should react to "Head Over Heels" and through another one the list.

Hi again. One of ABBAs coolest songs. Theatrical. I read some reviews about the lyrics: "Yes, they sing the truth about money" etc. They should know that Scandinavian people, then especially, or even now, never would state these desires openly. Wealth or economics is very personal here. To ask people about their income etc is taboo. I read these lyrics as satiric/ironic story telling...about a bit cynical gold digger.

  • @wawa2
    @wawa2 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

LOL, your dad has good taste, you'd be surprised the huge swath of people who love them from rappers to metalheads to classical artists!! They had hits in Zimbabwe and got behind the iron curtain as well. They were pretty clever. Glad you are enjoying them as well.

Also I see that you appreciate the videos made by Lasse Hallström, very good director. He made these before music videos even existed, he has made a lot of good movies since - if you want to make a movie channel that would be a nice starting point - like "Hachiko" and other movies about dogs if you like dogs... Or just watch them - good movies!

  • @Zveruidfly

Maybe they did 1-dollar bills in a video on purpose, not to be very serious and not to make poorer people envious. 1-dollar bills represent money being a symbol, at the same time they don't rly show a lot of money. So it's more like a symbolism

Look after the singles and the hundreds - thousands - will take care of themselves? Also, possibly the word you're seeking is Film Noir? Certainly this one relies on the effect of chiaroscuro - light/dark dramatic effect of the detective novels/films you mentioned. Used to great effect by graphic artists such as Will Eisner and Milton Caniff, also influenced by such movies.

HAP3, I see the song as a flashy, hook-laden critique of big money capitalism and fortune hunters. Admittedly, this is kinda ironic as ABBA were at some point pretty much the biggest export business in Sweden.

Not that I think she did it for money, guess she's good for life w royalties of ABBA franchise. But anyhow, she found a wealthy man.... So should we say; "Careful what you sing about"? XD
