hey man i have a 1988 ct 200 and it has this problem where it will start and run for a second then stall. revving the engine does not help, carb is spotless so i know it’s not the carb. honestly so stumped do you think it could be a bad coil? seems like the more i try to start it the harder it gets to start.
Pretty much Bud! Check your spark plug and see what color of spark your getting. It should be a blue spark if not you could have a bad coil or something goin on!
Yea I did this and it has power out of the condenser and and on/off switch but there is nothing out of the plug boot. Is that normal? I’ve never tested a coil before
It was about 3 years ago when I make this video I was either 15 or 16 can't remember I've learned alot more in 3 years then I tought I would I'll maybe make a up revised video soon
Three to five....hundrwd, thousands, ten thou? You also have to check primary resistance from the wire to coil ground. Testing coils this way isn't accurate. Disconnect the small black wire off the coil. If it sparks your small wire is grounded or the on/off switch is bad. If she don't spark inspect flywheel magnets and test for magnetic strength. If its good replace coil.
My quadbike only sparks when the spark plug is not grounded, when i do ground it. There becomes no spark
Well it grounding somewhere
Then you trace it back to what supplies the ground
Exactly
How do you know is "3 or 4" and what unit are you testing for? Amps/ohms?
Ohms and should be in between
Checking Ohms , amperage is power consumption, be he did not check the secondary side of the coil .

Cold be bad stator flywheel or coil but coil is unlikely
stator is likely for what you are talking about. Coil will act up when it warms

Check to see if it has a flip sensor, i had kne that had come lose, and it would run for like 3 seconds and die

Idr
What if my ignition coil has two prongs? I have a 95 and I think my ignition coil is going out. I have spark but very weak and not enough to ignite
I'm not sure
You checked the low tension coil but you didn't check the high tension coil .

Thanks for pointing that out I made the video when I was 15 years old and I didn't know that at the time
Should the Ohms decrease to zero after a second or 2?
No it shouldn't
3 2 1 0.0 reading?
Depending on brand but if reading is dropping it could be bad but do make sure ur getting a clean connection
Gotta know the ohm's of it cause continuity don't mean shit!
I gave the average omhs but every coil is different so u would have to search up the ohms
00.0 reading ? good or bad?
Bad
U can search up the specs for ur exact model on Google but it should have ohms
A 0 ohm Coil is no good
Honda cr
Is 3.5 to 6
The higher the ohms you have the more spark you have
Cap 5 to 6
Any lower is no good
camera !!!
What??
Tah
Ok?
