Hello SR people! It's been 10 years since we launched this video. Many projects have been realized by Dr. Mechanik since then. As you all know, it takes a lot of time to film all the work that has been done. Honestly, we never thought that this bike would travel around the world and become an SR icon! I want to thank all of you who are interested in Dr. Mechanik's projects and who watch my videos! 11 years after I built the legendary SS from the video, it's time for the most extreme SR project yet! Introducing the SR 690 SSR Supreme! Yes, it's a long name, but you can be sure this bike deserves it! Stay tuned, as we're sure you will love this one!
Im also jealous that you have a workshop. Until I moved to Spain 8 yrs ago my brother and me had a great workshop with everything from MIG welders to a milling machine. Now i just have the basics which is very frustrating!! Its a nice looking machine though.
Thanks to all of you for 200 K views for the SR 500 SS! Thanks again to the great The Bambi Molesters, who are one of the best Surf Rock bands worldwide, for supporting me with the Film! ! thanks for your comment! this is a master brake cylinder that I used to translate the mechanical power from the hand control to the hydraulic brake caliper. it needs to look twice to see how that works... I made it that way to make the look of the handlebar as clean as possible
Looks real nice, my only criticisms is the lack of rear suspension travel and the thought of forgetting to fold up the foot peg before kicking it over But beautiful bike
@@northvanwan7428 You don't need to be a vehicle designer, industrial designer, build bikes, own 7 different bikes or even ride bikes to see how bad designed, unsafe and inconvenient is a footrest that can stay up or need to be folded before you kick start your bike. DrMechanik Hello, Doc. I think I've chatted with you before. I have that 1979 SR500 with the 650 stroker engine. Without me having to scrounge up a manual, does the swing arm have grease fittings? I can't visually see any or find any by fumbling around the pivot point. If you want to see some cool pictures of how I have it set up and answer my question, please get me at: daviddaveinternational@gmail.com
Hey Doc. I'm really impressed with this bike. Can you please give me an idea of the budget and time needed for the whole project. Much appreciated! Thanks!

Hey, Doc; I would appreciate if you could answer a question: Where in Yamaha's parts breakdown[s] do they show a headlight/horn/signal switch wire harness or does the harness come with the switch? I need the harness for my 3 time magazine featured 1979 SR500 with its Hi-Per-Kinetics Stage Two 650 stroker engine. ANYBODY who knows if the harness is part of the switch, contact me here: daviddaveinternational@gmail.com You'll also get pictures of my "Poor Man's Gold Star".
It was a crappy underpowered bike when first released (yep l was there), and customising it doesn't make any difference to how much of a crappy bike it is unless the power can be increased.
@@Ozrico1o1 Ok, I hear you. I come from a place where distances between towns is considerable, so my English step dad tels me. So getting anywhere at a reasonable pace, was made harder when a friend of ours bought one of these, he couldn't keep up with us, sitting on 60mph. If we rode into a head wind it was much worse, he would disappear into the rearview and we would wonder if he had crashed or broken down or stopped for a coffee. One time we crossed a very high 3 km long bridge, with an exceptionally fast side wind (they have a massive wind sock on it to warn you)and his SR threatened to be blown over again and again so he slowed down to a crawl and we were obliged to do so as well. Very painfull. If you are tootling round town which I guess a cafe racer is for then it has its place. To my mind, this bike should be bored out to a 650, or retuned to have decent talk, which for a single it didn't. The closest bike l have to this is my xs650 (currently for sale ), my other 3 bikes are a 1000 or larger, but l am 95kg so l need something substantial between my legs when out on the road (apart from whats already there).
