    Just subscribed and loved hearing your thoughts of the card market. I am a Las Vegas local and there's various problems with hosting a card show here. Some problems are the lack of advertisements, the locals don't even know there's a card show at all. The card community in Vegas is relatively small and most people only care about Pokemon. Not to mention there's usually big conventions almost every month that steals some foot traffic away. I believe the only way to increase foot traffic in the Vegas card shows is by expanding the show with other collectibles like comic books and funkos etc (I know, it defeats the purpose of card shows but it could help). The locals may not come with the intention of buying a card but they can be influenced of joining the card community by purchasing their first card at the show.

      Thank you appreciate the local insight hopefully a big show will establish itself in Vegas in the future

    Nice video, Danny. What happened to shows being these big events with basketball games going on and celebrities in attendance? Didn’t Vegas actually have one of those last year when card values were worth a dam????

      Some try to be events likes that but I think it takes away from the card show and prefer shows without it

    I love going to Dallas. I spend the whole day at the card show, but when I’m in Vegas there’s way too many things to do to spend more than a couple hours at a show. Theres only one Vegas. I can go to card show anywhere.. People go to Vegas and stay on the strip. They don’t drive. It’s a lot to ask someone to get off the strip and Uber over just for a card show when there so many other things to do. I’ve been to other collector shows that were actually mid strip . You could just walk over to the convention and be steps away from the casino floor . It’s probably a lot more expensive to rent those , but a show would probably do a lot better there

    The number one indicator of hobby health is what dealers are paying in comps & how aggressive they are at wanting inventory. Right now dealers either don't want any new inventory or are paying 60 to 65%, very bad for the card show economy

    I go to all my local shows and the last few shows have all been great imo. The last one was last weekend. They are not really big shows but they definitely still have traffic and sales.

    It could just be my experience, but some of the smaller local shows have actually still been quite busy. I live in the middle of nowhere Wisconsin so most don't have a better outlet for cards. It helps that most just go to the 1 or 2 shows we have every couple of months.

      Yeah too many big shows now it makes sense to go back to smaller shows

    I see in March 2023, Dallas and Nashville are the same weekend. I realize they are 8 hours away….but many dealers and customers go to both slows. That is going to be a mess for everyone.

    Vegas local and met you at the show which was an honor. Thank you for the card pack you gifted me. Anyways, went only on Sunday and I agree with a lot of the thing you mentioned but I feel the advertising was weak, parking was bad even though the location was good, but not great. The fact that another card show the 3-4 days before pulled two HOF baseball players and they only advertised 2 UFC or whatever fighters and Earl Campbell at the last minute from ads I had seen made me feel this was not as well planned out as it could have been. PSA was only for autographs, breaks were stale just like the Vegas community as far as die hard local collectors. Bringing people like you were the highlight for many. But they could have done more and had those names help promote it had they done more. I think eventually they will get there but this one did fall flat. Live and learn from mistakes and they will make it better.

    Thanks for your POV, much appreciated information! I think it has a lot to do with the instant gratification of gambling. Vegas is the active version of TH-cam, people have a quick attention span and are emotional with cash in hand. Have a good hobby day! #johnnyv #heatcardboard

    Big card shows need to be where people live with an active local community. Vegas is none of those things

    Vegas is a great market, people are so rekt right now haha .... Also bad timing, having a show a few days after the industrial summit is bad. Also, huge NFT and crypto convention which i attended was going on. Another thing, football was nuts that weekend. Perfect storm..... they need to move the venue to the las vegas strip at a major casino where people can just arrive and stay at, not 10 minutes away :)

    i haven't gone to a card show in about a month as its the same, shiny, stuff and all slabbed, overpriced for most the tables. Dealers really aren't making deals because most say they're losing already. That attitude is a turn off. I understand costs, overhead, etc... just giving my opinion.

    Why do they keep doing the same card show in the same spot so often with the same bad results? The National this year was considered a success you’d say right? Thats because 9 million people live in Jersey plus NYC plus Philadelphia-all within driving distance.

  • @mccartycards
    @mccartycards 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Only because another better card show was on the east coast and did way better with a larger turnout
