Mario Maker 3 should introduce two requirements to *uploading* levels: all controls are disabled for the first second, and hitting a hidden block fails the course. These should only be applied to _uploading_ levels; they shouldn't be applied to playing levels. That would force the uploader to not kill the player immediately before they have a chance to respond, and it would prevent hidden dev skip items.

I agree about the no controls for the first second, but I think the real solution to the hidden block dev skip is to just not allow any items in hidden blocks. They can be placed for trolls or for jumping to a hidden area, but cannot have any items, thus preventing hidden keys, powerups, etc from being in them.

@@quackingplatypus People hide dev routes even with just coin blocks, so blocking items wouldn't fix the problem. Besides, taking away items is no fun. I mean maybe you could take away clown cars and other craziness, but hidden stuff in boxes is a staple of the Mario franchise, especially 1-ups and power ups. Taking it away from creators entirely would just be dumb. The point of preventing an uploader from hitting it during the clear is that the uploader cannot use it to avoid having to do the level themselves. So then it just becomes a cool hidden secret for people playing the level to stumble on. There's nothing wrong with hiding a key somewhere to unlock a true ending. That should keep the levels reasonable even if you don't find the hidden stuff. Kaizo blocks for trolling and ensuring a missed trick kills the player are typically meant to be missed anyway, so they can still be used for that.
