We're spending a few weeks in our Denver home and missing our Metro Manila home, so we decided to try to cook up some iconic filipino dishes ourselves. After our meal at Manila Bay Restaurant in Aurora, Colorado, we know that there's great pinoy food outside of the Philippines, but can we pull it together on our own? Let's find out.

ABOUT US
We’re the Lockwoods. And we’re traveling the world to experience-up close and in person-all the natural wonders and distinct cultures that our kids would otherwise be consuming only through textbooks and TV. We think it’s a better way to learn and we’re working hard to fund this little experiment in the hope that our kids will grow up wiser, kinder, and more grateful for the beauty of our diverse planet and its people.
I was in the US Navy for 20 years and a lot of people probably don’t realize that like 10% of the US Navy is made up of Filipinos. I grew up in the midwest and the Navy was my first exposure to filipino food & culture. I love it! Thanks for sharing your adventure trying to make it. You’re motivating me to try!
We didn’t know that rather. Thanks for the facts. 👍🏻 and thank you for your service 🙏
Super proud of you Erin! Adobo is not all the same each family has its own way to cook it. So this is the lockwood adobo.
Yay! We have our own Lockwood family adobo 🫶
Wow!!!

Seeing all your youtube videos from the Philippines makes me so happy & have been bringing back all the memories from the Philippines. It really is nice that your kids have adapted so well and they are open to trying new dishes and experience a different culture! Excited to follow all your videos❤

Great job Erin! As a Filipino American, I can say this is an authentic adobo dish you’ve created! Keep it up and I think you guys can seriously start a Filipino food cooking series within this channel! Much love from California!
Thanks! 🤗 🤗 So happy we got it right
Came across with ur channel, and as a Filipino Im so amazed with the efforts and extra mile you've shown to really diversed with the culture one day at a time. ❤❤❤
Thanks for being one of our overseas family! Remember you guys are soo welcome back here!!
🫶❤️🇵🇭
Try the easy Tinola Manok, sauté onions, ginger, and garlic for about 2-3 minutes, followed by the chicken cuts, sauté for about 5 minutes. Then pour in chicken stock or water salt and pepper to taste, boil for about 5 minutes until chicken is cooked. Add in basil leaves or moringa leaves (malunggay leaves). happy eating. dipping sauce to partner with the chicken tinola, patis, and calamansi. yummy. Don't forget the rice.
Pour some oil to thicken your adobo sauce.
soursop is Guyabano fruit
Ohh onions would have been so good with it 👍🏻
Im still trying to replicate my grandmothers adobo recipe she made a really good version hoping when I go back to my province in Leyte I’ll watch my aunt make adobo so I can learn
I am so proud of you Guys! Certified Filipino in heart mind and spirit! ❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks 🤗
Hooray 🎉! The family that cooks and eats together, stays together! Reagan’s first appearance in LTP channel is it? I think Erin’s adobo looks yum! There are actually many variations of adobo, and depends on your likeness. Some will cook it as pork, then let the gravy evaporate until it is dry and fry the pork with additional oil. On your version others may also add some boiled egg it in or potatoes or even go for both chicken and pork on it to give more variation and texture on the adobo. I like my adobo with tomatoes (my moms version). Wow kids are amazing too with their chef like skills! I adore how their tastebuds and olfactory nerves are spot on. ❤
Thanks! Yes that was her first appearance 🫶 she also made an appearance in our LIVE episode we just filmed yesterday
OMG! This is family vlog right?
I feeling just like I'm watching International show, because of authentic and quality on how you make a vlog. Its so perfect and amazing! I love it! I love also adobo. Its so delicious. Have a good day everyone.

We are inspired by your family cooking together with different task to do....Wow...
Hi Gorgeous family new subscriber. From Philippines but live in Singapore 🇸🇬
God bless
Welcome to our channel 🤗
Good job guys! Some of my own personal tips. You could marinade the chicken like a rosemary chicken just to add flavor to it along with worcestershire sauce. If u do pork adobo, try to brown it in margarine or butter instead of oil. Next, I noticed u didn't dice any onions. Most filipino dishes that have a sauce start with sauteing onions then garlic. If u don't want the meat to be too salty, don't season the meat with salt anymore as the soy sauce is salty enough. Lastly, the use and proportions of soy sauce and vinegar is according to ur personal taste. I personally do half a cup to a cup of soy sauce depending on the amount of meat then add vinegar by the tablespoon according to my preferred sourness :)
Oh these are great tips and it sounds delicious 😋
I love how there’s different types of ways to cook adobo! Never tried this version so thank you!! My stomach is already grumbling thinking about adobo
Noo this is americanized. Soy sauce , coconut vinegar (tuba), garlic, black pepper, garlic, onion, and bay leaves. Filipino cuisine dont use things such as rose mary, Worcestershire, and butter.
Am so Happy watching you working in your very nice kitchen......Big Like...for your whole family....
Saw your interview with another vlogger calvincastiel and i personally enjoyed that, it is nice seeing another side of your family, i mean the video is raw and sometimes it is also good to see you or your video unedited, i think that makes us closer to your family. Good job, Erin Lockwood & family! The best way to win man's heart is in the stomach. Cooking adobo is your steppingstone to cook more delicious, nutritious, yummy & simple but classy Filipino foods. You can have a Filipino-American Restaurant Business here in the Philippines & in America, very competitive. Thank you for vlogging about Philippines & we are so proud of you for embracing, blogging, sharing throughout the whole World 🌎 🌍 Philippine tourist attractions, hidden creatures, cultures, customs & traditions, the Philippine deep, scenic views, beaches, etc. Enjoy, more power & take care. God bless 🙏😇! :-)
Filipino Kare-Kare is something to try on!!
We LOVED it at the Manila Bay Restaurant ❤️
So proud of you guys..im a Filipino and its my first time to watch American people cooking/doin' some filipino dish esp.the chicken adobo..i hope you guys will cook more fipino dishes soon .again am so proud of you and thank u so much..Godbless u all😊
Thank you so much for watching 🙏 hopefully we’ll be cooking more and more. We’re actually off to a food tour in Metro Manila today.
Wow everybody has a tasked, it's gonna be teamwork. Everybody was developing ideas and at the same time establishing a bonding family that created unity in the family. The parents were mentors.
Thank you 😊 so happy you see that in our video 🫶
You can make an extra large batch of adobo that you can use for different meals all throughout the week. Also for busy people,no time to cook, just reheat it in microwave, topstove. It can last up to 4 days in the fridge because of high acid content of vinegar and salt(sodium) for preventing the spoilage causing bacteria.
That’s a great idea. Make it last
Erin's Adobo is pretty much her version of Adobo. She actually did a good job because you can't really go wrong with adobo at all. There are so many different types how you want them to cook it as long the similarity taste is there then it's adobo hehehe. This is actually very entertaining how you guys learning the recipes of what you've eaten in Philippines. I say keep it up and do more of this when not traveling.
Thanks so much 😊🤗🫶
I Love watching your video because OF positivity that I Felt to you guys

Thanks for the Philippines food or salamat SA pagkain na pinoy
Strictly for chicken adobo you have to add at least 1 teaspoon of smashed peeled ginger. It will ad a nice taste and will smell much better. Also for every 3 pounds of chicken or pork it should be 1/4 cup of soy sauce and 1/2 cup of vinegar. More than soy sauce than that it wil be super salty. You must render the sauce until at least 2 inches from the bottom so the sauce is thick and tasty. And the meat is peeling off the bone. Eat and enjoy
