    In my experience jumping cars, it's alright to connect the black cable to the negative part of the battery. Especially with some newer cars, there's a lot of plastic covering the engine and other metal parts of the car, making it difficult to find some metal to ground it on. Another thing to note is to NEVER TOUCH THE POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE SIDES TOGETHER WHEN IT'S CONNECTED TO THE DONOR BATTERY. Doing this can cause sparks to fly and anything flammable in the engine bay can catch on fire.

    Some of these we do different here:
    - 2:30 don't use all 4 blinkers when moving out a parking spot, but only the side you are turning towards.
    - 3:10 that manoeuvre for the red but especially the green car is very dangerous! switch lanes outwards on a roundabout earlier when possible! and use your turn signals when leaving or changing lanes!
    - 5:00 we don't rotate wheels, but they are replaced in pairs when worn. (all tires need to be changed once a year for seasons though: winter vs summer tires)
    - 6:25 when jumpstarting another car, there is no need to disconnect the power cable from the patient car
    just go + to + and - to - . Make sure the donor car is running when doing so. wait a (couple of) minutu(s) before trying to start the patient car

    Rotating the wheels on cars fitted with radial tyres should always be done front to back, back to front, they should always maintain their individual direction of rotation. Even more important if the tread pattern is directional. Diagonal rotation can only be done with cross ply tyres.

    Video you shared has lot of things which one should do while driving a vehicle. You are also true that jams are due to people and not vehicles in particular. I think people in India should view this video and learn but, eventually there won't be many who will follow rules.

  • @alainnervedamaged1669
    @alainnervedamaged1669 6 ปีที่แล้ว +28

    10 and 2 is NOT where your hands should go on the steering wheel. That was true many years ago, before air bags. Slightly lower than 3 and 9 is the correct answer.
    My biggest pet peeve is people who don't know what they are talking about giving out bad info in an authoritative way. If you don't know, don't teach other people! Videos like this are part of the problem.

    • @isxact3290
      @isxact3290 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't need to be too technical with it. 10 & 2, 3 & 9, 8:45 & 3:15, they're the same general area of the wheel. While I do agree with any of those hand placements, I often find myself driving one hand at 6, lol.

    • @Gtapolice123
      @Gtapolice123 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That is actually not true either. A really skilled instructor in my country (Norway) told WHEN to use 10 and 2, and WHEN to use 3 and 9. When you are driving fast or in a "high risk" place, such as smaller roads with higher speeds, you will have better control with 10 and 2, and not only that, holding under 3 and 9 would be a greater risk to break your arms during a collision. BUT, driving at a highway, not alot of turns etc, it would be more practical to hold little under 3 and 9. But if you get a front to front accident 3 and 9 will most likely do more harm to your arms than 10 and 2 ;) This is not only taught by the instructors, but by the government traffic safety department, and I will mention that Norway is number 1 when it comes to safety in traffic :)

      @@Gtapolice123 i would say i don't agree with any of the x and y on the wheel. Now i know i haven't been driving for a very long time(3 years) but i think that im not doing anything "wrong" or "unsafe" and any other word you might use to describe my driving. So anyway I drive with 1 hand and i hold my wheel at 9 or 3 depends if im smoking at the time or not. I also use 1 hand to turn the wheel and have never been in a situation where i would need to put both hands on the wheel. I have also never been in a car crash thou i was almost hit a few times but managed to react in time and evade the crash. I can think of only 1 situation where i would put both hands on the wheel and that would be if my car started to skid when the road is icy, wet or covered in snow but that would happen if im driving too fast for the weather which i wouldn't do.

      @@doncho611 Im just telling what my driving teacher told me, im more like a hand on 6 and hand on the gearbox so haha😂 But it is most about being comfortable driving if you ask me :) What works good for me, can work not so good for other :)

    Regarding rotating tires. If you do as in the movie make sure that your tires don't have a specific rotation. Then you will decrease your traction espcially in wet weather.

    for rear drive skidding
    Turn the wheel the other way of the skid direction and bash the throttle, if you are losing the skid push the clutch bash the throttle and quickly release the clutch

    3.55 If I'm not wrong then what you should do is apply throttle a little bit so there would be some weight on the rear tires to keep the traction, not release the gas all the way.

  • @Off_the_clock_astrophysicist
    @Off_the_clock_astrophysicist 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    On the last point: don't pass from the right. In some countries, that's illegal, for good reason. If you are stuck with a slow driver in the left lane, wait it out. Sometimes, that person is waiting for an opportunity to make their way safely back to the right lane. That opportunity fails to come if people keep on passing from the right, stretching a dangerous situation in time. If the slow driver is in the center lane, use the left lane instead of the right lane to pass. The video puts the fault on the slow driver, but we have all been slow drivers in the left lane, as there is always someone on the highway who drives faster than you do, and always someone who drives slower. The "slow" driver in the left lane may be someone who is going at or a little above the speed limit and is there to pass a truck. Give them the chance to finish their maneuver properly (not cut in front of the vehicle they just passed).

    Newer cars do not need to idle for 10-15 minutes since they don't have carburetors like older cars. I agree that slowly driving after 1 minute is great, but personally, I would wait at least 3 minutes to get all the fluids running (oil, trans, diff) through the components before I slowly drive away.
    On the other hand, letting your car running 10 minutes before you drive away in below 0 degree temperature seems fine to me, as you can wait for the heater to do its job and the interior's warm once you get in. Hence why car manufacturers make remote start switches.

    I could only watch until I saw the wheel change rotation. The possibility depends on if the tire rotation direction is set by the manufacturer or not.
    The traffic light behaviour is taught in driving school (jammed crossing: do not enter even with green light). Parking in revers means longer parking time in exchange of lesser leaving time etc.
    When skidding, nearly nobody will remember these tricks and if, there is no guarantee it will work.

    You should still earm up the engine in cold weather because the oil is 2 times thicker and needs more time to get to the filter and then the engine and the transmisson both need to get to a specific operating temperature and this goes for all wheather the heat and the cold. But dont listen to any of this if it is a emergency

    The rest is no rocket science, just what you should have learned at driving school.
    And when rotating the wheels, you probably should have mentioned rotation directions.

    Lots of wrongs in this video. Hand position should be 9-3 due to airbag. Skidding is safest solved by using clutch to get maximum friction, not throttle. Tires should absolutely not be shifted diagonally if they are made for a certain direction designed for leading away water to both sides of the tire. Having such tires in wrong direction is very unsafe and causes aquaplaning.

    4:50 You should never change the tires from the right to left side or other wise. The tires have a running direction. You can only change from front to back (or back to front) at the same side of your car!! No mater what wheel-drive it has.

    The roundabout tips... I didn't like how the cars changed the lanes in the roundabout. I don't think that's allowed everywhere.

    They actually teach at school that the hand position should be at 4' and 8' so that if the airbags deploy,
    your hands don't go to your face.

    2:50 Don't tell people to drive like that in the roundabout, only the blue car is driving by regulations. You should enter on the outer circle if you are going out on 1st exit, second circle from outside if going out on second exit, etc, and you should switch to the next bigger (right) circle after each exit.
    While it is allowed to stay in the same lane after driving by an exit (like red and yellow cars), it is dangerous if there is someone on your left, because he will try to get to your lane.
    The green car is extremely dangerous for the traffic and I think this should be forbidden. You cannot just go directly out of the roundabout from the inner circle. He had to switch to the middle circle after the second exit, switch again after the third exit and find himself in the outer circle right before the 4th and intended exit.
    Also, turn your right indicator on for every lane switch and before the exit. Only if you are planning to go out on the first exit, you should turn the right indicator before entering the roundabout. NEVER use the left indicator in the roundabout.

    10 & 2 is what I taught way back when I first learned to drive, Unfortunately that is No longer the correct method.
    It is now 8 & 4 why is that you might ask it’s because of the Air Bags, in cars nowadays. If you are ever in an accident the Air Bag, Deployment can crush the bones in both of arms leaving you disabled for months on end.

    Parking in reverse to make it easier to leave? Seriously?! You are encouraging that?! When people are trying to park so they can get to work on time, they don't want to sit and wait while someone blocks traffic to park their car by backing into a spot. There is always that one that can't park in reverse if their life depended on it, so they keep pulling out to block traffic again, sometimes several times before they get parked. Seriously?! Tick Tock. Park it straight to get out of the way of other drivers so you aren't making them late. Ugh! That is such a pet peeve of mine!

      Soma Electricals at 3:40 the point is if you get in trouble don't just break there because it won't end up good, gas and turn to the nearest open field asap. By asap I mean within next 1,5 sec usually, also depending on how far is the nearest car behind you if that makes any sense.

    Father God, through Jesus Christ, the Alpha and the Omega, the Creator of ALL THINGS loves you so very much. He wants you to come to Him with all of your weaknesses: physical, emotional, and spiritual. Rest in the comfort of His Presence, remembering that nothing is impossible with Jesus. Pry your mind away from your problems so you can focus your attention on our Lord. Understand that He is able to do immeasurably more than all you ask or imagine. When anxiety attempts to wedge its way into your thoughts, remind yourself that Jesus Christ is your Comforter and your Shepherd. Give yourself completely to Him this very moment. Though it may feel frightening, the safest place to ever be is in the loving care of Jesus Christ. ❤️❤️❤️ (Luke 1:37; Ephesians 3:20-21; Psalms 23:1-4; Ephesians 2:6; John 14:27; Matthew 14:28-32; Matthew 24:30-39; Matthew 16:27; Psalms 34:17-19; Deuteronomy 31:6; Isaiah 41:10; Psalms 86:15; Romans 8:38-39)

    3:05 WRONG! You must always hold your lane through a roundabout and through an exit. Red car will collide with or impede a "blue car" coming from the north or a "yellow car" from the east.
