No worries, I'm just from the Midwest. We have this problem where we all think we're comedians. It's pretty bad. We also "nuke" food in the microwave and "sweep" with a vacuum. Weird!

For doing metal there is a spray to initially cover the metal with so it doesn't you get the full power of the laser, preventing reflection

For checking fitment of 3D printed parts, what I often do is design a very simplified version of the part with only the critical points and print that first.
For car emblems resin printing is the best option. Prints come off looking injection molded, you can print 1 or 10 of the part at the same time and the print time is the same. There are also videos here on TH-cam how to coat and electronic plate them with copper and nickel for the finished product. I have literally printed something 100% unfilled on my Fdm printed that was a 40 hour print that took 10 hours on my resin printer.

If you wanted to make the emblem and you have what you want 3D printed. You could make a sand casting of the 3D print and pour molten brass in the sand casting. Then smooth it off. And send it to chrome if you wanted chrome. If not you could use the casting melt some aluminum cans and cast in aluminum. Load of ways you change the color with aluminum.
This unit looks useful for small stuff, but you might have to invest in a CNC laser cutter-engraver for larger work.
I would do like a hood vent that will exit out of a window or wall to the outside that you can turn it on and off when needed

@@Junkyard_Dave Pretty sure SRG Global (in Farmington Missouri) makes emblems for cars... I've got access to 2 CNC machines at work (Colex) neither does laser engraving.... be cool if we did

Does that machine work on plastic and can you vary how deep it cuts?
Looks like you are using Windows 10 or 11. A lot of devices and software won't work on Windows 7 now. My mate bought a new printer and had to upgrade to Windows 10 because there was no driver for Windows 7.

If you want to legit make an emblem, get me some printable casting resin, and I can print it in my resin printer, then cast it in aluminum.
