Just picked up the CurlSmith Defrizzion hairdryer because of your recommendation and I'm in LOVE 😍 It's perfect for people with "sOoO much hair!!" - it legit covers 1/3 of my head and has cut my drying time by about 10 minutes. The diffuser design makes up for the heat limit by keeping the air swirling inside the massive bowl and my hair already looks healthier for it. 10/10 would recommend!
Courtney is the absolute BEST! If you are new to curly girl, she is the person to ask. Others are great, but she will take into account your hair and your needs. I took her curl course and then did a few curl consults. I still use the products she recommended. ♥️ this girl!
I just purchased the full size Curlsmith defrizzion dryer. I really like it so far and was pleasantly surprised that the black orchid diffuser fits on this dryer so I can use both diffusers!
In this video you mentioned the curlsmith defrizzion dryer but in another video the shark hyper air. I am wondering about a comparison of the 2 to help decide on 1. Thank you!!
Thank you for answering my question about fellow low porosity curly people. I have already been following 2/3 of your suggestions. I hope Shark sends you their FlexStyle to test. I have been waiting for an Airwrap clone to hit the market.
Love the new intro! I thought my hair was high porosity for almost 2 yrs & I finally did test a naked strain of hair, after clarifying & deep condished with a heated cap, which I finally got & sprayed water on it & seeing the droplets just sitting on the surface for the longest time! 😯 I was so surprised to find out it's low porosity!
I can't find it now, but I saw a video where you used the flexible Curly Co diffuser, and you had it attached to your Dyson. I must know, how did you do that?
"Your hair is not sourdough bread; it does not need to be that hot." 😂 Love it haha, and great perspective on need vs want. It's super nice to have a fancier dryer, but certainly fine to use lower-cost methods, especially when someone is experimenting or new to styling their hair! That was basically me last year when I got back into diffusing (having been without a hair dryer for over ten years) and now I'm finally getting to a point where I know what I'm looking for and feel confident enough to spend a bit more than
I love your videos, Courtney. You always have really good content and advice. I don't normally like to do this, but because you were struggling to think of other channels that have low porosity, I fit it that category. I make wavy/curly content and release a video every week as well. I've mentioned you several times and sent some subscribers your way and will continue to do so. Also, I love Marisa's Curls as well. She's great. 💕
I've learned a lot from you (thank you!), and will continue watching you. But my wavy hair is short (3"-4"), and I struggle to figure out how to adapt and modify some techniques to my shorter hair. I haven't found very many curly/wavy TH-camrs that address shorter hair. Do you have any recommendations to other YT influencers who focus on shorter length hair? (I have IG but find that I just never really use it.)
Same , my hair is shoulder length and I still struggle sometimes, Courtney’s method gives me great curls in the front but the back (shorter) is always a mess and the curls are less defined because I have to manually organize the mess :(
Same, my hair is around chin length at the front and very close cut at the back If I follow some of the advice my hair ends up being greasy at the roots 😖
I'm so curious to try the Curlsmith. I have hair down to my hips, mind you i got to get rid of the split ends. It's fine and high density even after losing some of it. I have dry scalp so I got some Cantu scalp and hair oil too. I got some Cantu products to do the curly girl method.
I'm the first to comment!! I've started my curly girl journey on 2020 and you were the first you tuber i followed. I'm from Italy. Thanks Courtney for your videos, for your help with curls :) and for your graceful company. I hope you're doing great and send you my affection!!
My hair has always been super tangly bc of how fine it is. It got a bit better since I've treated my hair well the last 6 years, but second day hair has been such an inconvenience. I usually have to fully rewet my hair before detangling to prevent frizz. Tips for detangling between wash days?
I would love to get the curlsmith dryer but I have short (above the shoulders), fine hair.... would the giant diffuser be a good idea? It seems like it's more beneficial for long thick hair. Thoughts?
Courtney thanks so much for your videos! Your technique works better for me than others but I struggle with the back of my head, my hair is shorter than shoulder length in the back and when I take off the plop it does not drop down and looks like a mess and have to use my fingers to fix it tuning my wonderful clumps, any advice? Thankssss
I’ve been watching your videos all day. I am 52 years old and I must color my hair or I have a ton of greys.. I’m too young for that!!! But I do have naturally curly hair that is somewhat like yours. I’m just now learning how to embrace the curls and I’m looking for a more simple way to just wash my hair and let it be natural. Some days I have great curls. Other days (like today) it looks dry and it’s not evenly curled. I’ve purchased the microfiber head wrap and I tried Lo-Poo Deva Curl.. (That’s going back to Ulta as soon as I can get there because I think that’s the reason my hair looks so bad today! Like straw!) I’ve just ordered the Shea Moisture line of stuff to see how that works because I absolutely loved your hair in that video. Do you have any recommendations for someone older that must dye their hair? I don’t dye often.. Maybe 2 times a year? 3 times at the most. I also just ordered the silk pillowcase and I usually do tend to wear my hair up when I sleep because I get too hot (good old menopause) Any advice would be appreciated. Oh and I will be doing the Suave clarifying shampoo and a deep conditioner very soon..
I am so tired of the sulfate free craze....it makes my hair dry. My dermatologist said sulfates are fine..people just hear that an ingredient is bad and everyone believes it without researching it. My scalp does not feel clean if I do not use a sulfate shampoo. I also need silicones for my curls...they do not look good without them.
Sometimes my hair is straight and so frizzy/poofy and sometimes it’s a nice 2a beachy wave and it’s rare to get 2 wash days in a row to be decent 2a waves. Any advice on that? This past week I’m on my 2nd wash day with my waves (not as tight as the first which I expected just cause my hair is that way and I did diffuse on high heat bc I didn’t have time to diffuse for 30 minutes. (Only had 10 minutes)) it frustrates the crap out of me. I also recently started using hairtage protein treatment every wash day for almost 2 weeks now and it was like an immediate difference from straight to wavy
I don’t wear my hair wavy everyday, but I have definitely eased up and have become more selective in my styling and hair care products. That being said plopping and diffusing completely ruin my waves. Anyone else? My Dyson that I’ve had for 6+ years kicked the bucket today. Not sure what I’m going to replace it with. I’m definitely not spending 500 bucks on a new hair dryer. Any suggestions?
I'm waiting on that full body thickening lotion from Curlsmith to come in the mail. It seems to work SO WELL on everyone I've seen review it!! Also, affordable hair dryer recommendation. The Conair Infiniti Pro Texture Styling System. It's like $30 and does a great job. Nice, big diffuser and doesn't get too hot.
I started this curly Journey about 3 months ago and i love it. But.... when i detangle with my fingers and detaglingbrush i lose so much hair! I am starting to get worried. Is this normal when you start the CG method? Anyone?
You're probably not brushing your hair, except maybe on wash day? However often you do it? I find that I shed a bit more, esp. when I don't wash my hair for a couple of days. Unless you're losing like handfuls, I'd say it's pretty normal. I believe you shed like 50-100 strands per day.
I'd also like to add that since you're still early on in your journey, sometimes things may seem to get worse before it gets better...but it really does improve over time.
I watched your comparison of the Shark and Dyson yesterday where you concluded that you preferred the Shark. It happened to be on sale on a department store website so I ordered it last night! I’m curious to know which hair dryer you find yourself reaching for the most now that you have these 3 options in addition to the Dyson.
Have you seen the new shark blow dryer/styler?? It's similar to the Dyson air wrap, it has 5 different attachments including a diffuser!! 😱 I've been intrigued by the Dyson and shark dryers as well as the air wrap. They're all so expensive that I couldn't justify getting one but the fact that this new shark styler also has a diffuser is an absolute game changer
Also, a disclaimer that my already lose waves have loosened up even more to the point that they're basically non existent and I have straight hair so I don't mind straightening or (most often) curling my hair if I have some fun plans which is why I was interested in the air wrap in the first place. I do still try to diffuse every couple weeks just to see if I can get any of my wave to come back so the diffuser attachment on this tool would be perfect for me
@@Silverhaired59 I bought the Shark and am thinking of returning it. It is so hot it scalds my scalp and makes me yelp, even on the lowest heat setting. I have to hit the cold shot button every five seconds. What is your experience with the heat??
@@Silverhaired59 as I said above, I have to hit the cold shot button constantly to keep from scorching my scalp, which then makes the dry time no different from the cheap Conair dryer I have. I'm sure I'm seeing heat damage to my hair from the Shark, and I'm surprised others aren't reporting this much. I'm wondering if I have a defective unit.
I had the the Brazilian blowout couple months ago and have highlights now and the Brazilian blowout coming out wavy curls are starting to come back I want more curly what can I use and my hair thick of course what is the best hair dryer with the diffuser
I'd love to know how you ladies can go like 3, 4 and even 5 days without scratching your scalp to death. 😂 By day 2, I'm looking oily esp. on the sides.
There's a yeast that lives on the scalp and feeds on scalp oil. It can cause itching and flaking for some people (this is usually what is meant by "dandruff" not dry skin flakes.) A dandruff shampoo with zinc pyrithione can cut down on the yeast population and the oiliness. You may also want to avoid oily products. I used to scratch a ton and get really bad breakouts but it's way better now. Even still, I usually wash at least every 3 days just to keep my skin healthy. The folks who can go longer either aren't very oily or they're not bothered by the yeast. Two other suggestions are to help your skin barrier by washing with lukewarm water (not hot!!) and get the shampoo right down to your scalp but use a silicone scalp brush or your fingertips, not your nails. Hope this is helpful!
Yeah... the longest I can go is usually 3. I have to wash every 2/3 days. That being said, maybe try changing up products to see if that is what making you head itch. It's no fun!
I can’t be certain, but I think this was a sound effect, not her slurping. Not that that helps you at all, except she wasn’t trying to make you sick :)
