So glad I bought my Corolla. My 21 year old VW was a money pit of expensive repairs. What a relief. My car payment is totally worth it and I’m not pinching pennies for it at all. So freeing.

Just bought my Corolla Cross Hybrid, payed cash. The vehicle before that was a 2004 Cadillac, drove that until it died. The new car made sense given that I have kids now and the safety features are next level. But the safety features on a corolla are virtually identical to a car triple its price. Glad I went with my amazing new Hybrid!

At around 11:51... I think that clip got misrepresented because he was paying for family relatives bills. It had nothing to do with a romantic relationship. He lived with his grandmother and was paying for some of her bills plus some family relatives. Just to clarify that.

Another point about timeshares is they are loans you are paying on with that monthly payment. They usually have 20% interest rates. It’s like buying a house with a credit card.

So far, I have been lucky with cars. Each one I've had I have kept for 20+ years. I look forward to the day when technology makes it so I no longer need to own a car. The purchase and maintenance of a car is one of life's major expenses.

04:50 I think the guy fell into the trap of financial relativism. He prolly thought that after spending six figures on a house, spending $50 000 on a pick-up won't matter that much.
It's sorta like buying a house, and then not even trying to find a deal on new kitchen appliances.
In other words, if you are buying new appliances without the house, you are much more price sensitive.

I’m so lucky to be 26 and never had a monthly car payment. I’ve owned 2 vehicles, 1 was an old pickup truck that was gifted to me when I was 16. Didn’t want to get rid of her but had to be done. Next car I bought off my dad when I was 20 and I still drive it today. And at this point I’m probably gonna drive it till it dies at which point I will attempt to pay for the next car in cash. Taking out a loan for a depreciating asset is just asinine to me.

As far as credit card points.... I've used three different credit cards for points since 2007.... I've paid it off EVERY month at the end of the month and I buy everyday things with them... I don't finance vacations on them (unless I can afford to pay it off at the end of the month)... These cards have APRs well above 20%.... The points are nice, but a pittance compared to the interest they charge.... To pay interest of 20% that compounds to get 1% of bonuses that doesn't compound is ridiculous.....

Caleb is my Dave Ramsey. Dave Ramsey has never got past the 90s in terms of financial advice. Ramsey truly thinks what worked for him and 20-30 years ago will work today. Ramsey has no desire to evolve and change or that a one size fits all approach is perfect for everyone
Another note about timeshare my parents had one growing up and they did it because my dad is a workaholic and it forced him to go on vacation.
