To be frank, I find Caleb's videos far more relatable than the majority of financial channels and articles out there. Caleb showcases a diverse range of individuals that a wide audience can identify with. Notably, these aren't your typical 'I make six figures and don't know what to do with it' types. Instead, they mirror the financial realities and challenges of everyday people
That is true! From where I am (southeast asia), the US is still considered the land of opportunities. But watching Caleb openede my eyes to the common atruggles of the people there.
@@jdmecarr America isn't all it's cracked up to be, in most cases it's only the land of opportunity if you have money. There are exceptions obviously, but far less than they want you to believe.

@@bloodmusthaveblood i agree! From what i've seen from his audits, 2500$-3000$ monthly salary is very common, which is crazy low considering the cost of living in the US
@@jdmecarr the incomes are only half the problem, the west also heavily encourages consumerism, flaunting wealth and status, and convinces us to treat our mental health with shopping. Not to mention provides zero financial education. Half the people on Caleb's show make enough to not be in debt, they just make incredibly poor decisions with their money. I don't live in the US but a similar enough country and it can be very difficult to be happy with less when you're constantly bombarded with messaging that you're not enough without the new car, fancy clothes, and vacations to post on Instagram. Not to mention the propaganda of "old cars are unsafe", "used clothes are unsanitary", "go to university it's the only way to be successful", "after 30 your worth as a woman declines better get cosmetic surgery ASAP", "debt is normal everybody has it" ect. It's a multi variable fuckery haha but it's time the rest of the world stopped romanticizing the idea of immigrating to the west and thriving. Those opportunities are much rarer these days. Still possible, but not the gamble they advertise.

I subbed to Caleb when he was around 15K I think. His channel exploded because of Caleb’s reactions and it was interesting to see the average real people with bad financial situations.
I stopped watching Ramsey for the most part, and Caleb Hammer not only perfectly filled that void of everyday personal finance, but he expanded on it. I love how thorough he is going through every account, outstanding debt, etc. He also isn't anti-credit card for the right people.
Exactly! He examines more options and more life choices than just some cut and dry Ramsey approach. Plus Ramsey pushes a scam that defrauded people trying to get out of time shares.
Yeah, Dave makes some good overall points, but his assumptions and thinking are NUTS.

In many ways Dave Ramsey has changed when he added some of his Ramsey Solutions personalities some of it was for the good but not all of it I love George and Doctor John when they are on with Dave Ramsey sometimes being inflexible does not serve Dave Ramsey well
I have never liked Ramsey. His plans just aren’t realistic to me especially in 2023. Ramsey is living in the 90s/early 2000s basically. He’s so outdated and refuses to update any of his takes really. Caleb is realistic and living in 2023. He has a very personal approach for every person and not just a one size fits all like Ramsey does. He also considers things like mental health and health as essentials. He doesn’t bootstrap you to the pysch ward like Ramsey would

Its quiet interesting how we reject the reality of our situation and expect to be able to observe it, control it and even change it. I used to be financially depressed until I read a book that made me realized that the secret to making a million is making better investments.

That's where i was...my son went in the Bathroom and the floor dipped 3-4 inches. the sub floor was almost gone. Thtat's an emergency. and the Floor is what got fixed. then you do some new paint..

Caleb looks a little cruel here but he really handles the situation so so so so well and and makes me love his work even more! Yeah, Caleb was being a little extra since the guy was a narcisist who thought he was too good to do any job outside of his preferred field, then would brag about how he'd take down groups that pissed him off by writing hit pieces on them.

I'm not even kidding when I say that the market crash and high inflation have me really stressed out and worried about retirement. I've been in the red for a while now and although people say these crisis has it perks, I'm losing my mind but I get it, Investing is a long-term game, so I try to focus on the long term.
I cannot focus on the long run when I should be retiring in a few years, you see l've got good companies in my portfolio and a good amount invested, but my profit has been stalling, does it mean this recession/ unstable market doesn't provide any calculated risk opportunities to make profit?
There are a lot of strategies to make tongue wetting profit especially in a down market, but such sophisticated trades can only be carried out by proper market experts
I completely agree, I have been consistent with my profit regardless of the market conditions, I got into the market early 2019 and the constant downtrends and losses discouraged me so I sold off, got back in Dec 2020 this time with guidance from an investment adviser that was recommended by a popular economist on a popular forum, long story short, its been years now and I've gained over $850k following guidance from my investment adviser.

My parents and I have talked about this and their stance is that a parent chooses to have a child, not the other way around, so a child should not be burdened with your poor choices. However, if you raise kids who love you and are successful enough to want to help, then let them.
The magic of Caleb's videos is that they mske you indirectly look into your own financial habits and change them. We are not told to "GET YOUR $HIT TOGETHER!!" in our daily life about our money habits. Caleb gives that kick in the pants in the right direction. Caleb will be the biggest personal finance youtuber because he tapped into an untapped market, found the niche, provides a solution, and people flock to him became they need his help. So happy he's getting recognition 👏 ❤

Listen, his parents are happy to pay his rent and they're happy he's eating gas station taquitos.
Up until about 6 months ago, I could not come up with $1,000 on the spot if things went to hell in a hand basket. My plan for that scenario was to pawn all of my guns and/or get a car title loan. 6 months ago was when I started fixing my credit and watching all of these financing videos and it was impressed upon me that *NOT HAVING AN EMERGENCY FUND IS AN EMERGENCY.* I see things differently now. I have lived like a pauper well below my means for several months now and I can now come up with $1,000 on the spot if needed without losing the stuff that I love. :) It feels much better. Definitely a good comforting thought.

It's fascinating to watch this as an Australian outside American financial systems and tax structures. The liabilities Americans carry structurally (tax, superannuation/retirement) are light responsibilities compared to us, cost of living (adjusted) is lower, but it's the wild west with debt - credit accessibility here is locked down tight, which changes the game. It seems so many individuals over there just don't understand what debt they're signing up for, and lenders do not care.
It's by design - they don't want us knowing what we're signing up for. By the time you realize it - it's too late

A lot of people are vey responsible. The problem is also just entitlement.
I watch Caleb because he talks about the finances that most people are dealing with. He is real and calls out the truths we all need to hear, with minimal filtering, and still compassionate. He is doing it out of Lived Experience and not just because he can do math.

yeah. you shouldnt have to be able to retire already when having a kid, but if you think about 10 scenarios what might happen in your life from worst realistic case to be realistic case, you should be able to retire in at least 8 out of those and you should know how to and already work on getting there.
Great video! For 2023, it’s hard to nail down specific predictions for the housing market is because it’s not yet clear how quickly or how much the Federal Reserve can bring down inflation and borrowing costs without tanking buyer demand for everything from homes to cars.
A lot of folks have been going on about a January rally and said stocks that would be experiencing significant growth these festive season, any idea which stocks this may be? I just sold my home in the Boca Grande area and I’m looking to remunerate a lump sum into the stock market before stocks rebound, is this a good time to buy or no?
Such market uncertainties are the reason I don’t base my market judgements and decisions on rumours and here-says, got the best of me 2020 and had me holding worthless position in the market, I had to revamp my entire portfolio through the aid of an advisor, before I started seeing any significant results happens in my portfolio, been using the same advisor and I’ve scaled up 750k within 2 years, whether a bullish or down market, both makes for good profit, it all depends on where you’re looking.

As well, having worked in Wealth management for part of my career, sometimes i think some of his emotional outbursts are just extra. There are better ways to communicate but i understand that sometimes you need it to speak with people as dense as the people he's working with.

Videos like Caleb’s and Dave Ramsey, motivated me to pay off my debts and not use credit cards. It’s really an awful feeling having to send your hard earned money to credit cards every month.
The greatest financial gift you can give your children is to be financially secure yourself in retirement. More than paying for their college or buying them a house. This is coming from someone who is currently supporting my parents.

While Caleb Hammer obviously has a great financial brain what sets him apart from the rest is how much he cares deeply about the people who come on his show, to the point i worry for his blood pressure!
You have to work at it to have a 76 year old grandmother totally taken with a finance show, but I’ve adopted Caleb. Yes, OF COURSE I want to send him some fresh ironed dress shirts - maybe even a set of scrubs after the epic diabetes episode. I’d love to go on and tell how you can survive on Social Security alone if you are crazy self disciplined.

The comments about not finding a job in the field you were shooting for is dead on. I went in the service in aviation, got out with the intent to get an A&P lic and Eastern tanked. Went telecom and have been in it since. 100% agree with parents not saving for themselves.

There have been some WILD audits on Caleb's channel. The "bathroom renovation" emergency guy was the most cringy that I've watched. And yeah, upgrading/renovating just for the sake of it is NOT an emergency. Broken pipes, flood, or something like that, yeah could be emergency (and then hopefully home owner's insurance helps out there!). But it sounded more like his wife wanted to update a bathroom and he gave in (also basing that on his entire story from his episode).
I am absolutely watching him to improve my financial choices! I'm terrible with finances but I love his approach, like a scolding smart younger brother or younger cousin giving you grief over your bad choices. Feels like its done out of concern and not to genuinely demean you. I'm already doing better than I was! For people who live paycheck-to-paycheck his is a great channel to watch because it starts from the very bottom.

I was raised by accountants and I work in psychology, so I am always fascinated by hammer's videos. I think it's very helpful to listen to people say out loud what they are doing with money. It helps the audience to think about what they are doing. And there are some shocking moments ❤

That entitled information systems degree holder about walked out from being called childish. Some people get so frustrated being told they're not doing things right, even though they went onto the show.

I have a W2 income and paid the most I've ever paid in taxes last year, and the IRS sent me a letter because they felt I owed an additional $400 haha yet here are people just straight up skipping taxes for YEARS.

I have a Fine Arts degree but got into a job with an insurance company for 15 years now. Many companies would love to train you/start fresh rather than from bad habits.

Whenever I need a really good laugh I watch Caleb's channel. It is hysterical what these people do and poor Caleb - I hope he doesn't have a heart attack during one of his audits.
With the information systems degree guy ive had a similar conversation with my girl. This wasnt anything finnacial wise shes good with finances. I just basically said their degree doesnt matter its what you accomplished and it hurt them and got emotional for a second but once we both cleared up our meanings behind what we said it was all good. Shes getting a phd from upenn now all paid for by the college. I dont value degrees but i value people who can make degrees valuable
