thank you for serving in the military and than you for your service my dad had been in the military thank good I'm so proud of my dad for serving our country
Now thats bad ass! I would have one fully loaded, and I want the cab to join the box so you dont have to walk around, especially with kids. Also needs a winch on the front, some flood lights to provide 360° lighting outside the truck, some LED lights up front. The list keeps going! These trucks are really fun to drive. The downside, most garages dont know these vehicles so finding someone to fix it could be challenge or just DIY.
Todd Klekotka This one is probably the owners personal vehicle that doubles as a show vehicle. I agree a winch and lights on all sides is a must for any offered vehicle. I'd have to watch a lot of youtube videos on how to work on these truck LOL.
Well, as long as you have some muscle, and a good set of tools, you would be fine. To work on these trucks is fairly easy, a 5 year could figure it out. Its the heavy, 150ft-lbs of torque on most bolts that gets most people. There is a good website/forum all about these trucks called Steel Soldiers. All kinds of info and vehicle for sale. Hope this helps...
there are a few things missdescribed. 1. this is a M900 series 5ton truck not the M35 2.5ton series. 2. the Cat engine is NOT multifuel it will only run on diesel. they ended the multifuel engines in the 80s with the redesign on the M35A3 Designation. the M35A2 had the Multifuel (white, continental, or hercules LDT 465) and a 5spd manual. 3. the 5ton was redesigned alongside the M35 sharing the engine and transmission. just thought id point this out.
1:M939 Series is the appropriate Term. 2:5 Ton Trucks, except for the Stewart & Stevenson MTV's,never had a Caterpillar Engine. 3:The Multi-Fuel ended in 1988. 4:There was a LT/LDT/LDS-465 with three different Turbos (A,C,D) depending on Year and Series, for Deuce & A Half and even 5 Ton Trucks. 5:The M35A3 and M109A4 both were made from 1993-1999,with a Caterpillar Engine also (3116). 6:The M39 Series 5 Ton Trucks are the only ones that shared the Multi-Fuel with the M35A2's,other Variants had a R602 Continental Gas Job and even a EDNT-673 Mack Diesel. The other Series later on such as the M809's and M939's were all Cummins,NHC-250 or 6CTA,the M809's all had the 250,and then the M939's coming out had the NHC also until they got the 6CTA in 1987.All trucks except the M939 had Five Speed Manual Transmissions, the M939's all had MT654CR Allison Automatics. The Cabs,Doors,Roofs,Fenders, and Bumpers are Interchangeable on these trucks, except for the M939's yet again, they are measured differently and can't be easily changed out.
@IronicallyVague A M939 Series can do 63-65 MPH all day without issue, espiecally at ease with the Full Air Brakes they have. The M945A1 however, which is a Bridge Truck, with a long Wheelbase has a very set back Gear Ratio that only allows it to do 20-25 MPH,same way with the M348 and M812.In other 5 Ton Trucks, espiecally the Deuce & A Half (2 1/2 Ton),it's recommended that you don't go above at least 55 MPH because of the Air Assisted Hydraulic Brakes.I also should point out that the speed depends on what Variation of 5 Ton Trucks with their Tires. The M923-M944 with the G177/1100×20's can do 64-65 MPH all day,the M923A1-M944A1 with the 48/1400×20's can do 52-55 MPH,and then the M923A2-M944A2 with the 50/1200×20's can do 63-65 MPH.The M923-M944 & M923A1-M945A1 are the Variations with the NHC-250 Cummins, same Engine that the M812-M820 has,and the M923A2-M944A2 has the 12 Valve 6CT Cummins. The 14.0L NHC-250 cannot handle higher than 2,100 RPM,you will have flying Piston Rods and broken Valve Seals. The 12 Valve Cummins, both the 5.9L 6BT & 8.3L 6CT can do 2,500 RPM all day without issue, the Governor Springs that you have access too allow them to do so.They even have Springs for the Industrial Cummins that can be used that allow them to do 3,000-3,600 RPM.
I'd like to see a few modular units that were on casters - a kitchen unit, a storage / entertainment unit and closet that could be secured while in transit and rolled and locked into place when the unit is expanded. A few modular bunk beds would be good as well. The folding floor / roof constraint could be overcome using this method.
I both love and hate that you had the same idea of putting a tent on the roof at least 6 years before I did. Maybe one day I'll be able to make it happen for myself too
This is one of the Expedition vehicles videos that I have watched randomly that I can prove afford and take my whole family n a trip.I wonder how my credits doin!
I saw one of these the other day converted to a Septic Tank pumper truck. Honey Bee Septic Service Inc. Lol! They kept the cab front camouflaged though.
I've been looking at 5 Ton's. I was more interested in an M928 modded with a M926 regular bed and crane mounted behind the cab. Palatalized cargo set up. My use is camp site build and resupply. After viewing this video, I'm thinking this will still work for palatalized loads, if i use a pallet jack. With a camp site, I never considered this set up but what an awesome addition to a camp set up. Duel purpose sells it for me.
That's a good deal compared to some of the exploration vehicles out there ranging up to a million dollars. Of course, it's kind of bare-bone, but perfect for somebody who wanted to spend a bit more to have the work done or customize themselves.
I think your right. A sportsmobile 4x4 van costs $90,000 for the base model. Earthroamer 4x4 campers built off a Ford F550 cost $300,000 for the base model. Newer Unimogs cost $100,000.
mixflip I've have 2, a slightly newer M934A2 and a older M820. I tow all my quads on a .jumping jack folding tent trailer, check them out when you get chance
It's No Wonder, You did a great job filming this video, and showed a amazing truck. Thank you for for what you do. Without you, few would even know this vehicle is available to the public.
the vehicle channel Thank you, it sure is. Couldn't imagine my girls going through life with just a memory of me. I may take it 1 day at a time, but I try to make the best of them. Thanks for the support!

How come I never saw any response to the OBVIOUSLY NEW to all us MULTI-FUEL CAT that runs on MOGAS? Where can I get one of these, my 939 series came with that old Cummins, this new CAT sounds like just the ticket??
Damn only 46k. That way cheaper than I thought it would be. However you didn't mention the fact that it bullet proof. Or has really think steel plates. Or how high it is off the ground so if you run over a landmine everyone in it won't die. Just a couple of thoughts
Not ranting or anything but the M939 series of 5 tons (these trucks) never had a multifuel Caterpillar as Caterpillar never made such an engine (i wish they did) but they had mechanical Nch250 (855 Cubic inches, 250 horse) Cummins or an Mechanical 8.3L Cummins which is related to the 5.9l that was found in Dodge Ram trucks hooked up to an Allison MT645 5 speed mechanical auto trans. But i do see where the Caterpillar and multifuel came from as the M35A1 and M35A2 (2.5 ton or Deuce and a Half) had a Continental Multifuel inline six with five speed manual which was removed when they had an extended service program and converted them to the M35A3 with the Caterpillar 3116 inline six diesel with Allison At545 4 speed auto. Hope this helps.
It was a cool gun show. Even if you didn't buy anything at least you could enjoy the historical vehicle display and the survival vehicle display. I hate going to the one on Sunset ave. Its tiny and a total waste of $15.
please dont misinform the public this is a M939 series with the Cummins NOT CAT 8.3L diesel (6CTA) which CANNOT run on multiple fuel types.... these are strictly diesel fuel only engines
this truck is not multi-fuel, this truck is built from an m939. they do not have multifuel engines in them, they have a Cummins NHC-250 engine in them which was strictly diesel , the m35a1 and the m35a2,s were REO OA-331 high compression engines equipped with a fuel density compensater that made them accept other fuels. all tho on the 5 tons (m939) will accept a little motor oil mixed with diesel. i would never go above 50% oil
+Christopher Vayo Here is the facts, mamm.. The first 900 series trucks did have the naturally aspirated 250 Cummins. In 1990, Harseco took many of these and rebuilt them completely, and installed the cat 3116 turbo. About the same hp but better torque utilization, so they perform better than the 1980's versions. These newer ones have the 900A2 designation. It is not technically multifuel, but I can attest to using half diesel and half jet A with 2 quarts of transmission fluid added for lubrication of injectors. Heating oil and kerosene also. There you go.......
If it's only animals who want to clime on a roof, safety zero. A havy truck and sleeping in a tent, only in summer and only in California. I'm Always surpriced that those Guy's almways are better in talking then in building, I mean realy smart building. This thing commes directly from the army for peanuts and go's of hand for a lot of dollars...
+mixflip Bon. A safe overland vehicle has only material that can resist burgelers for a surten amount of time and better is to make clear that burgelers have no chance at all; and like in wildlive, only the weakest are a target. A lifting roof with no fixed walls, wrong, sleeping in a tent, where ever that tent stands, wrong. Windows out of plastic, wrong. Glidingone plate glass windows, wrong. Windows in cabin doors with no unbreackleble protection, wrong. The US is the safest place in the world... :-) but in Europe and so on, is smashing a car window something that happens everyday. If you are interested in what is realy more safe as an overlander, give me something where I can send pictures to . And give the living space a nicer form then a square box truck.
+rangemog21 The purpose of the truck is not to act like an MRAP (Mine Resistant Armored Personnel ) carrier. It's a good camping or bug-out rig. You want complete protection, get out $300,000, pay up front, and I will build you an armored, impenetrable, bullet proof battlewagon that will get stuck in the first mudhole or soft sand and the first joker with a molotiv cocktail thrown underneath will force you to exit and be OUTSIDE anyway. In America, we choose to resist burglers with AR-15's, Glock 30's (45 auto), and 12 guage shotguns with buckshot and slugs. People in other countries crawl under their bed and dial 911, hahah!
+WhaleBoatWilly well, I think more about burglers, young people on vacation and out of there budget...that kind of thing. But ok, you have something in your range that is enough protected for what's gonna happen when the dollar collapse ? Let's joke a bit or compare what I'm talking about campers-4x4-motoren.skynetblogs.be Put a comment on that site and I find a way to go further in a discusion about that kind of build-it-yourself campers.
Dude really changed the title over 5 years later to get views smh

i thought this would cost in the 100's of thousands but starting at 46 grand thats not bad at all
+Toe Nail no fit out at all though.
you have to remember those trucks are actually pretty cheap about 4k for a nice one. noone really wants them in the civilian world

safer in a cloth tent then steel walls? .......
This Truck was in the Army in late 70' & 80's uses were Cook truck and Some Command Post so he put some on there but this truck was out there Army .
+ROD B This truck did not exist in the 70's. You are thinking of the 800 series. The 900 series came along early 80's and are a far different truck. Check Wiki......
I'd use it in the zombie apocalypse
with the tent that is bigger than some apartments even in nyc
oh and i would live in that
Have you guys ever thought about utilizing the M1000 trailer as an oversized camper? I suppose that would be overkill.
I want one.
That's a killer !!!!!

How come I never saw any response to the OBVIOUSLY NEW to all us MULTI-FUEL CAT that runs on MOGAS? Where can I get one of these, my 939 series came with that old Cummins, this new CAT sounds like just the ticket??
price is pretty dam good for what you get
I was shocked when I found out that Rockwell axles sell for about $10k each.
I want one I'll probably buy one soon
If you buy one from Plan B Supply please let them know you saw their trucks on the mixflip youtube channel.
Damn only 46k. That way cheaper than I thought it would be. However you didn't mention the fact that it bullet proof. Or has really think steel plates. Or how high it is off the ground so if you run over a landmine everyone in it won't die. Just a couple of thoughts
cool
great price.

808Gunz Thanks for the info. I was just geusstimating.
I remember working in these while I was in the army. They would definitely make a great bug out truck!!
Fucking awesome.
I was there on the last day.
It was a cool gun show. Even if you didn't buy anything at least you could enjoy the historical vehicle display and the survival vehicle display. I hate going to the one on Sunset ave. Its tiny and a total waste of $15.
mixflip yea I'm from hawaii so whenever I go to las vegas I hope there's a gun show.
Vernon Basuel You should plan your Vegas trip around January during Shot Show if you can get a pass to get in.
You could probably use this now!
42k for that configuration... that's...actually not that bad.
How did it handle water? How deep can it go?
Hey im constantly sharing videos on my page you can find it on facebook Offroad Campers ! thanks
They forgot the gun turret on top.
this would be a perfect zombie outbreak vehicle all it needs
is a minigun on top of the cab an it will be perfect
I agree. All zombie apocalypse vehicles need a mini gun.
mixflip Fuck that! All you need is a mini cooper with a sunroof and a lad with a black widow catapult and some potatoes
This is plan z when every other letter has been exhausted
please dont misinform the public
this is a M939 series with the Cummins NOT CAT 8.3L diesel (6CTA) which CANNOT run on multiple fuel types....
these are strictly diesel fuel only engines
So his second favorite is an Unimog?
Probably?
The guy talked all over you but it sounded like you said the tent was 5 1/2 feet above the ground? It’s more than that right?
I want one!
How is this a covid 19 bug out if it is over 5 years old?
dam this thing is bad ass f@$$ proly costs a million dollars though wish I could own it 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Mark Amsberg I think this one isn't too expensive compared to traditional RVs.
That multifuel engine isn't the original engine is it?
Àre these trucks available for export?
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
i want one
Did you just edited in the word Coronavirus to all your videos?
That is so fucking cool
HELL YEAH IT IS!!!!
all is good except it has 50 gallon fuel tanks
buy a truck for 8k put maybe 10k into it sell for 40k+, thats an awesome profit margin
there is no "structural" work done by plan B...unless you add that pup tent. that is an M934a2 and this is how they come even with that lift gate.
$42g???? That's a good price. Hmmmmm
Cool find.
So far #1
Did he say $42,000 for the model shown? Wow. You could buy two for the price of an Escalade.
How much are Escalades nowadays?
mixflip Fully loaded 2015 is $90,000.

they drove them on highway 15 from Utah to Vegas.
utah is not a real city

legal in Oregon

+SMITERIUSZ RYCERIUSZ it said on it 40K
+SMITERIUSZ RYCERIUSZ Base price, with NO extra features, is $28,000. The exact on in the video is about $42,000.
If it's only animals who want to clime on a roof, safety zero. A havy truck and sleeping in a tent, only in summer and only in California. I'm Always surpriced that those Guy's almways are better in talking then in building, I mean realy smart building. This thing commes directly from the army for peanuts and go's of hand for a lot of dollars...
it's going to take a while to try and figure out what you said.
+mixflip Was thinking the same. Maybe too much radioactivity from the puter screen.................
