13 Going on 30 is my favorite romcom of all time so I'm both surprised and delighted that it was number one.
Instead of the wedding singer, it should have been 50 first dates for Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. Henry and Lucy would go the distance, with his love and determination to help her remember their life together every day and how hard that must have been, especially when she was pregnant, and with her staying with him, constantly falling in love with him anew every day, it felt like the stronger couple.

I love that Harry and Sally ended up together, as they were initially meant to go their separate ways by the end. But Rob Reiner and Nora Ephron felt that it made more sense if they had a happy ending, since Harry and Sally had known each other as friends long before they became romantically involved.
What i read, was director remarried and felt hopeful again. But they felt it made more sense to break up
I'm a little disappointed that Jack and Lucy from While you were sleeping wasn't in the lineup. Bill Pullman and Sandra Bullock had really good chemistry in that film. And it's still one of my favorite Rom/Coms.

Both Robbie/Julia and Matt/Jenna gave me unrealistic expectations for romance. I like to think that "The Adam Project" is a spiritual sequel, of sorts, since it also stars Mark and Jennifer as a married couple, with an element of time travel involved.
I had the same thought when I watched the Adam Project, but there is no way Matty and Jenna could produce Ryan Reynolds. They should have cast a Jonas brother.
Lucy and Jack of "While you were Sleeping" are my all time favorites.
I feel backstabbed that they did not mention how Matt and Jenna were married in The Adam Project
The other reason to think Jenna & Matty will go the distance is that he stands by his choice, he is committed to his fiancé. While he does get drawn in by his old connection with Jenna, he pulls back. Relationships take work & dedication. I think it would have worked out for him & the woman he married in the alternate time-line too, it will just be all the sweeter in the time-line with Jenna.
Just my honest opinion, I don't consider this a good point. He marries a woman who will always be second place in his heart and it's not fair to her because she'll never know. It would've been more honest if he had broken up
Why aren’t Sam and Annie (Sleepless in Seattle) or even Joe and Kathleen (You’ve Got Mail) on this list? Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan have amazing chemistry together!
Well, Annie stalked Sam, which is creepy; if he found out that she was stalking him and his son, he'd lose the stars in his eyes immediately. And Kathleen was literally driven out of business by Joe, which she may grow to resent when she realises that they're living off his money, and she's no longer an independent woman.
chemistry is not enough... pffff Joe and kathleen, I was so angry after see this film, what about her business? what about the lies? nah.
How about Joe and Patricia in Joe Versus the Volcano? As long as they kept those steamer trunks they should be OK (lol)

Ian & Toula being so high on the list is kinda ironic, considering it was based on Nia’s real marriage, which ended in divorce. They were married for 25 years, which is a hell of a run though. The Holiday is a fantastic movie, but I don’t think Amanda & Graham would go the distance, personally. Harry & Sally are my #1.
Real life Ian & Toula were in Hollywood, entertainment industry messes up relationships, it's not a conducive environment.

I wish I liked Working Girl more, but the thing I remember most is wondering "why is she vacuuming in just high heels and a pair of panties??" there were a few scenes that felt like the men in charge basically using the movie as an excuse to be perves under the guise of 'girl power' or something
I doubt the couple of crazy rich asian would last, they were dating for a whole year and he didn't talk about his family, nothing about his past and when he did, he didn't help her prepare her to meet his mother/family.
And the holiday couple, didn't she hook up with when he was drunk?

Cinema Therapy just did a video about how awful the relationship in The Holiday is. I agree with them.
Yeah, this entry should have been swapped with Kate Winslet and Jack Black's characters instead which Cinema theraoy said is one of the better relationships. I want a sequel to The Holiday but only featuring those two.

Preach, they argued that Amanda and Graham's relationship is mostly based on outside appearances and sex. In contrast, Iris and Miles, the other main couple, seem to have more of a genuine, emotional bond, since they got to know each other as friends long before they got together.

@@laurenpatrick4609 If the genders had been switched you'd realize what was awful with it to start with. Cameron's character essentially rapes a drunk man. Just watch the Cinema Therapy video on how toxic and bad this couple is. They probably wouldn't have lasted in real life, while the relationship Violet and Miles share seems like it could still be together.

Oooo I dunno, Faith and Peter's relationship started on a lie.....and a big one that toyed with her emotions. I would be questioning what else he would lie about (it was the first movie I ever saw Robert Downey Jr in and I do love it but....I don't know if they would have stayed together!

Crazy rich Asian was totally different in the movie to the book. In the book Nick never gets the approval from his mum to marry Rachel. He elopes and marrys her in America and doesn't get approval for 2 years later until she is pregnant or has had a child as Nick walked away from his money for Rachel.
I don't usually watch romcoms because they are too predictable and often boring to me, but somehow, I love 13 going on 30! And the chemistry between two of the nicest people in all of Hollywood really made it the best
I'm shocked that you included Ronny/Loretta and Amanda/Graham as couples that would last when all they really have together is mainly sexual attraction. Ronny and Loretta knew each other for maybe a day and neither gave a real excuse for why they supposedly "love" each other. As for "The Holiday", you would have done better with Miles/Iris who was the more believable couple.

When Harry Met Sally probably would be my second favorite but if I added to say which one was like my number one favorite that had it to be probably 13 to 30 again, that was probably a classic favorite the one with us with Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo. That was a really good one. I ain't going to lie. It's one that I always loved it watching back when I was in my like early teenage years and at the same time it was one that I actually saw as a good like fairy tale couple that actually could see stick along time together and trust me. I think they were actually married in real life actually those two actors but hard to say otherwise if they are aren't but otherwise, how's the movie that actually enjoyed it a lot when I saw it for the first time was 30 to 13 actually.

How about the couple in the notebook, they proved they could go the distance in that story.
This list is more about belief than actual proof, so they wouldn't count.
This is about after the credits roll… if the couple would still be together. While they clearly stayed together in The Notebook, they have no relationship at the end because they both died.

Now I wanna see a top 10 rom-com couples who are NOT still together. My number one would be the couple from Four Weddings and a Funeral. Hugh Grant is totally in love and Andy Macdowell is super non-committal and sometimes acts as if she can barely stand him.

I have a huge problem with "Amanda and Graham." They were strangers when he shows up drunk and they have sex. She took advantage of him. If the roles had been reversed, it would have been viewed as a violation. Because he's a man, it's ok? And worse, it's romantic?! Hard pass on the believability of these two as a lasting relationship.

Why on earth are Diaz/Law couple from The Holiday on this list?!! They are a mess, especially Diaz's character. There's a lot to say about this, but Cinema Therapy did it better than I will. If they had Kate Winslet & Jack Black on the list, that one I could buy, but it's moving at a normal pace, they're going to start dating at the end of the movie. They have a strong start, but it's just a start.

So, you chose one romance from The Holiday and went with Amanda and Graham? Are you kidding me? That is the skippable part of the movie, not to mention a pretty unhealthy start to a relationship (if the genders had been reversed, we'd be pretty uncomfortable with one party getting the completely wasted person into bed). There's no reason to believe they actually lasted. Where's Iris and Miles on this list? There you have an actual healthy romance, two people getting a foundation in, getting to know each other, supporting each other, connecting and building each other up. If any relationship from this movie is likely to last it's Iris and Miles.
This exactly! All the cheesy lines aside, Amanda and Graham also never did resolve the long distance issue which is a pretty big one! But I’m convinced Miles and Iris would actually discuss it properly and come up with a good solution
@@rebeccadeal2560 definitely, I think the scene where he asks Iris out shows that. He only lets a few seconds pass to digest the disappointment and before turning the situation around. Instead of being caught up on being sad that her stay is ending, he decides he can go visit her instead. So I can imagine them going back and forth to visit each other while they figure out their relationship, and when they do decide to commit they would find a workable solution for the both of them.
Not agree with you, I believe most of these couple are no longer together. The only definitely couple which are still together is Harry and Sally. We know the easy part of relationship is the beginning. the long run is much more difficult. And as this couple are Hollywood couple, I'm sure most of them didn't end up before the wedding.

Unpopular opinion: 13 Going on 30 is overrated. While they are a cute couple, there are better ones out there. Also, wrong couple from The Holiday. Georgia and Sean from The Last Holiday would last. Lucy and Jack from While You We’re Sleeping.
Number 1 was an abomination!! Did Matt even consent to having his future changed? Jenna went back and changed HER future for selfish reasons. Matt was just a prop. And don't forget - this lifelong decision was made by a 13 year old.
The way it was worded in the video it does sound weird but I always viewed it as her changing her behavior from that point on which made her a viable option for him to choose to marry not that she chose a different path for him. It's kind of like how scrooge is shown his future in A Christmas Carol to scare him straight. He then vows to be a better person and because of that a lot of the future we saw gets changed.
@@mellyq92 He was engaged to be married. He lived his life right and met someone he wanted to be with. Scrooge had to change his behaviour going forward - the moral being it's never too late to change. Jenna went back and erased her mistakes (something we all wish we could do). It was never really clear at the end how much she was aware of her alternate future, and if Matt was at all.
I still liked the movie, but Harry and Sally deserved the top spot, I feel.
@@Jenifer_R_ since she couldn't remember her past it read more to me as a glimpse into what her life could be like instead of living it and going back but you're right she does make a wish and travels through time twice. I felt like the second wish was as accidental as the first one though and not an active plan to change the past. I also felt like wendy deserved better than a guy who "felt things that I didn't think I could feel" for someone else. While they could've gotten past it and made it work I think the new timeline where they don't get engaged is better for all parties Involved. I liked Harry and Sally too. Happy new year🎆🎆
