THANKS SO MUCH FOR WATCHING! - แนวปฏิบัติและการใช้ชีวิต
I would maybe add that "posing" your model can also help, for example let them "look" into the sun with eyes closed, or putting their hand in front of their face. Obviously that would create more like editorial pictures instead of business portraits, but depending on what you're trying to do that can help in a pinch. I would've also added that looking for a white wall can help tremendous to bounce some light back into your models face and help lifting the harsh shadows :) But as always, great video, straight to the point! :)
Necessary skills for *every* photographer!
“It’s not what makes the light that matters, it’s what you do with it.” - Joe McNally.
We’ll explained Dave.
Such a tricky scenario but you covered all options quickly 👌
Another great video, David.
Those are all good options for daylight portraiture. I hope that John G. can at least avoid the rough time frame of 10AM to 2PM (or thereabouts) at the very least. Failing that, hopefully his shoot will be somewhere some shade of some kind! Or at the least, hopefully have a day that is only partly sunny and wait for a favorable cloud to pass by?
As usual, well done, sir.
I literally just did headshots last week in 2pm sun. Found me a group of trees (even though it was dappled) and faced them away from the dappling in the shade and made it work! She was super happy with them!
Well done, looks gr8
If you get into the habit of using umbrellas to block the sun and bounce flash to soften hard glare it won’t take long for you to the hang of it. A very easy technique to master. Depending on your current preference either shot-through, white or silver umbrellas can be used.
Ask Hollywood Celebrities Photographer Greg William and his photography in any light is absolutely brainstorming and 99% others photographers repeatedly say shot in Sunset, sunrise and use soft box for great photos but he proves any available light makes great images.
High speed sync in daylight is one of my fav things these day. Punches so hard lol
😊
Maybe I missed you saying it, but how do you expose for both her face and the background? I'll rewatch though.
What size is the halo You use. What do you attach a Wescott arm to and what size is it and what did You attach the reflector to the stand with? thanks for the really great video!
Did you add something at 3:52 on the backlight shot to get her hair to cast those shadows on her face?
That light in bouncing back from the white wall you see in the shot right before that.
David, why wouldn't you use HSS? Thanks!
Only if you need to shoot wide open or really darken the ambient exposure.
👍🏻 for the algo 🫶🏻
Afaik it's not exactly right to say soft light "fills in the shadows". Soft light makes shadows that have a fuzzy edge, where it gets dark gradually. Hard light makes shadows with a sharp edge, where it gets dark in a very small distance compared to the size of the subject - i.e. in a hard light shadow the penumbra is much smaller than the umbra.
But you can have soft light shadows that are pure black in the umbra, as you would with a large light close source outdoors at night, and you equally you have hard light that makes hard shadows but have them filled in by additional light from a different direction.
I know we all have to start out somewhere but if John doesn't know how to shoot during the day, I hope he's not charging for his services.
a guy taking clients and asking that , i hope he is shooting for free
