Back when the charts, in my opinion, actually meant something. I like Blur, Oasis, Ash, Charlatans, another appearance for Tim Burgess with the Charlatans, Radiohead, that reissue for the Inspiral Carpets, The Verve's original swansong (until 1997), Paul Weller, Cast as well as the early stuff from Garbage and Foo Fighters. I miss the days where you had guitar bands in the top 40.
I love how these videos showcase all the forgotten hits and give a real taste of how diverse the decade was. You just don't get the right impression from lists of the top hits, especially in 1995 when Robson & Jerome were #1 for weeks and so all the great songs that were on the radio back then are missed out in a list of just #1s.
Thank you for this Francis. A golden period was 1995. I could go back in time to this era. I remember a very hot summer that year. Your videos are an excellent time machine. Whatever happened to Tina Arena? She was big in France, but just disappeared. Diverse times, songs didn't linger on and everyone has their place. 'On The Bible' a forgotten pop gem. Ah yes...the famous Oasis v Blur chart battle. Oasis edges it for me. I'm guessing the likes of Delacy and JX were Corona style acts - fake singers. 20 Fingers, an element of sexual frustration from their side? Both of the songs are a bit sexualised. This is the group of death as the vast majority of these songs are Grade A to A+ material. My big favourites are Michael Jackson's gorgeous ballad. So sad that video as both him and Lisa Marie Presley are both no longer with us. Quite heartbreaking when you listen / watch it. Deuce's forgotten pop gem, Squeeze's underrated summer track, Whigfeld showing her sensitive side with a lovely pop ballad. Throw in Celine Dion's classic ballad and Mariah's classic 'Fantasy' plus the underrated sexy cover version by dancehall queen Patra and two classics from Garbage. Love Shirley Manson's voice. Too many good songs to list ❤
I'm still amazed at Celine's "Pour Que Tu M'aimes Encore" hitting the Top 10. A French language song achieving that mark remains such an incredible feat. Does anyone know if any songs have done it since?
The Britpop face off. Was well annoyed when Blur got the top spot. Oh well, I should have bought Roll With It on single then loooooool. I was ten and remember most of these
16:08 I also wondered about that! Echobelly was led by a female singer called Sonya Aurora-Madan, who had a great follow up from Great Things called King of the Kerb.
Indeed, but TH-cam tricked me ! When you make a research about this song "Echobelly great things", you got on the official channel of Echobelly a video (Vevo) but apparently it's not the good video. I knew Echobelly is a girl band, but I didn't pay really attention, I was thinking it was another group with the same name or something. The comments tell it's actually Ned's Atomic Dustbin with "Stuck".
I know, I explain in the description. But I like people who comment only to point out errors, without mentioning anything else. I guess that must make them superior.
Well there was absolutely nothing worth listening to there about the only one that was listenable was Bon Jovi & it was off far from one of there best albums . Even Slayer & Thunder’s contributions were poor compared to their best .
Thank you for this wonderful memory.

Thanks for another great video. Please keep them coming

The JX one is a sampled vocal, Delacy is a guest vocalist. I assume with Corona you mean a different person in the video to who is actually singing?
I see a favorite group of mine here !
Dubstar !!
Not So Manic Now and Goodbye.

Unlike in 76 though the long heatwave didn't end with a bang. Hypersonic by Fluffy made it to TOTP.
2 Australians ❤🎉
Whigfield and la bouche dropping ballads.. And in August.. Weird 😅
Echobelly song at 6:00 is not Echobelly. Don't actually know who they are tbf.
Ned's Atomic Dustbin.
Quite why Ned required a nuclear powered trash receptacle is not recorded. X

Wrong music video as 5:57
