Cool thanks for sharing ❤️ I'm excited to try this I'm a newlywed and my husband is Filipino and Mexican but doesn't know much of his Filipino side his father has past away I'm interested in helping him discover as much of his Filipino side as possible 🙏🏻😌💕
I did this and it tasted great!!! Thank you so much for sharing this. I was planning to cook it in the normal pot but that would require a lot of effort to soften the beef. But it is so easy to make it in instant pot. This will be a frequent menu in our house. Thank you so much for making my life easier 🤗
Oh boy I never thought of Bistek Tagalog in the IPot…who knew? My beef will be tri tip (untrimmed for a bit of fat :) hope it works out. But I love how it’s minimal base ingredients and is IPot friendly. Keep cooking ! Ps I have a basket of beautiful calamansi fruit that was given to me, :)
update: I made this for the first time last week, and it came out delicious! this is a new staple with how easy it is to make. thanks for sharing the recipe!
Bring on the rice with that bistek! 😍 Interesting too that you mentioned menudo near the end...I don’t think we’ve made it in our house for quite a while...well, except if you count the “giniling”/ground pork version.
If I’m putting about 3 lbs of beef steak inside the InstaPot, would it be wise to put the pressure cooker timer to about 12 mins since there’s more meat in there?
Ooh maybe you can try that bottle on its own and adjust it by adding either more calamansi (or lemon/vinegar if you don't have calamansi) or more soy sauce. I'm not sure the ratio that Pamana uses, but I'm guessing it's usually used as a dip. Nevertheless, I think it would work for a bistek recipe! Let me know how it goes!
That's what I thought too! When I looked it up, I found that the Spanish word "bistec" is a loan word derived from English! Of course, Wikipedia might not tell the whole story 🤔
Tried this and it was my first time cooking bistek, it turned out pretty good!!!! So thankful! 😊

Of course!! I hope you both enjoy 🥰
What have you cooked?

This brings back memories. My mother made this every time we went to the beach. We’d go swimming for hours and then eat bistek w/rice.
i love it, so simple. definitely adding this to my weekly meals lol

oooo yes I definitely had my share of rice with this bistek 😝 and yeah I'd love to make menudo with the liver and everything! I'm a liver fiend!!
Will definitely try this!
Another favorite! For some reason, my haole husband doesn't like it! As my daughter says, more for us!
ahaha! i wonder why he doesn't like it?? maybe the onions?
Have you ever made chicken relleno? My mom used to do traditional Filipino style and one with sweet rice, Golden mushroom soup , gizzards and liver.
YUMMY no I haven't made chicken relleno yet but now I'm going to add it to my list of things to create! Thank you always for the ideas Nancy!!
Wow she talks a lot..like a lot..and I love it❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Comfort food ☺️
Indeed 🥰 makes me feel warm and fuzzy

Yummy
Thanks for the recipe. I have a 6Qt IP. Are the liquids enough to bring to pressure for a 6qt IP or do I need to add water?
I was wondering that too. I think you need at least 1 cup of liquid but it did only cook for 7 minutes.
Will be doing this in 3......2.......1
Can I use lime juice?
I’ve done it with lime and lemon juice also
can you use olive oil?
Can I use a bottle by Pamana that says "soy sauce with calamansi"? Will that throw off the ratio?
Ooh maybe you can try that bottle on its own and adjust it by adding either more calamansi (or lemon/vinegar if you don't have calamansi) or more soy sauce.
I'm not sure the ratio that Pamana uses, but I'm guessing it's usually used as a dip. Nevertheless, I think it would work for a bistek recipe! Let me know how it goes!
Will it be ok to leave the marinade for 2 days?
You can pressure cook with very little liquid?
Please make menudo and batchoy tagalog
Hi. So if I'm cooking 4 pounds, does that mean 7 minutes times 4? So 28 minutes? Or should I stick to the 7 minutes?
Beefsteak, was not shorten to Bistek. Steak is spelled bistec and is pronounced the same way in Spanish
That's what I thought too! When I looked it up, I found that the Spanish word "bistec" is a loan word derived from English! Of course, Wikipedia might not tell the whole story 🤔
wrong. bistek or bistec in Spanish is also a shortened word taken from English word. it isn't hard to look up the etymology...
Wow you use ribeye for bistek - bougie lol
No water?
whatttt
Daldal nakaktamad panuurin
Watching this after my vacation to the Philippines… and man… I don’t know how I “avoided” bistek growing up in Manila for 18 years… but here I am.
Looks delicious!
It IS delicious, and I hope you have time to make bistek at home soon! :D
Jeanelleats - Filipino Food Videos I will! And it’s a pleasure to watch you cook. Thank you for posting!
