      +Carson Schalk The Q7 is really in play to compete with the Acura MDX, and a 2.0 TFSI Q7 is on the way to the US. Overall, I'm looking forward to the SQ7. I think the interior isn't up to par at the $70k price tag on a Prestige model, but there is a full luxury package that adds more leather, alcantara headliner, and more. I plan on doing a video of that as well, because the Range Rover Sport TD6 and Q7 TDI at $80k would be one hell of a comparison, and a tough choice. But the fact that the 2.0 TFSI can be had for the same price as a VW Touareg, it really puts the Q7 on the radar across the board, especially if you need that 3rd row of seats.

    Great review. I don't know if I missed it or just couldn't tell but are there lights under the side mirrors to illuminate your path as you approach the door?

    • @DieselDrives
      @DieselDrives  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are led flood lights integrated into the bottom of the door handle on all 4 doors. They illuminate the handle area and act as puddle lights. There are also lights in the door sill and there's a red warning light on each door corner when open, and there should also be a puddle light from underneath the door but some models use the led map light to illuminate that area when the door is open. Led lights are on the prestige package.

    audi is so much better then BMW. they give you so much extra feature for "free"

    • @DieselDrives
      @DieselDrives  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup, you're right. And that means I forgot to check if the Q7 has a spare tire, jack, and tools. Unlike BMW, which uses run flats to "save weight," but we all know is to save money.

    • @tomkampfraath
      @tomkampfraath 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      JIAJUNHAPPYSHOP No, it's not for 'free', it's expensive because of those features. But yeah, I agree, BMW gives less for this amount of money. And I can say myself, the Q7 is a really nice car because we have the E-tron.

    hey diesel review which do you perfer the audi q7 tdi or the range rover td6 if you were to purchase one today? great review as always

    • @DieselDrives
      @DieselDrives  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Range Rover Td6 has a more powerful engine and smoother transmission than the Audi Q7. But it's $100k. The Audi Q7 TDI is not available in the US right now. The Q7 has seating for 7 while the Range Rover makes due with 5 seats. There is a Range Rover Sport Td6, which I'll be driving soon, but it also only fits 5 passengers in the US. The Range Rover Sport is about the same price as a loaded Q7. In the US, I could only purchase the Range Rover or Range Rover Sport Td6, and there is only 1 other diesel SUV available in the US right now, the BMW X5d. Mercedes doesn't have any diesel models right now. Jaguar has the new XE diesel, but no F-pace diesel in the US, yet.

    Very good review. Any idea how the back seat entertainment / Audi tablets works? I saw many Q7 review but no one ever got a hold of the model with that feature yet.

      @DieselDrives  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching! Good question. I believe the rear seat entertainment is now using tablets. But honestly, just spend the money on some iPad, hook them up to WiFi and Bluetooth the audio through the 3d stereo.

    What do you think of the two tone interior? Black seats + light cream headliner.

    • @DieselDrives
      @DieselDrives  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +TuvingtonD It's a light gray headliner and it's my preference over a claustrophobic black headliner. Overall, I'd go for the comfort seats which includes alcantara door liners, upgraded leather, and gives it a $70K price tag but an interior to match the high cost. Add B&O and a few more options and it will push $88K.

    • @TuvingtonD
      @TuvingtonD 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Diesel Review Thanks. A couple of more questions.
      1. Is the adaptive chassis a must have?
      2. Would you go for 20" or 21" wheels?
      3. If you've seen it, do you like the Glacier White color?

    • @DieselDrives
      @DieselDrives  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +TuvingtonD 1. It's not necessary unless you travel to many places.
      2. 20" wheels are better than 21" especially when it comes to the cost of replacing tires.
      3. White looks awkward. Black or silver or gray looks sexy.

      +ioan Morar I'm sure there will be, since the Q7 will compete with the BMW X5 Diesel and Range Rover Sport TD6 (as well as the Porsche Cayenne Diesel - when it comes back) in terms of price range, interior room, and luxury appointments.

    Hi, very cool post - thanks for that. But you missed out on the predictive efficiency assist. That's by far the coolest feature I can think of. So, depending on speed limits, your programmed route, the topography and so on the Audi will tell you when to lift your foot off the pedal. Imagine you are cruising around and behind a turn a different speed limit would come up. The Audi will know and tell you before the turn so that you wouldn't further accelerate and probably waste fuel. Same goes for hills, dumps and so on. This feature is also combined with the cruise control and the satnav, meaning all you need to do is steering unless you engaged lane assist as well. The Audi will then automatically adjust all speed limits and in efficient mode even safe fuel by breaking early or avoiding accelerating when it doesn't make sense. In dynamic mode however, this feature runs the Audi through turns like hell - automatically.

    How impressed, or at all were you with the vented seats? Would you say they are strong/weak? I know they aren't AC but some cars its a total waste and other nicer cars (Mercedes S class) its much stronger and worth it.

    • @DieselDrives
      @DieselDrives  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      These were okay, but they are the standard seats that come with the prestige trim. It's kind of drab inside. But, there is a luxury "comfort seating" package that includes massage seats, alcantara trim on doors, and better interior materials all around. Based on my A6 experience, I'd say the standard seats aren't that good compared to the comfort seating package. Thanks for watching!

    This or Mercedes GLS? I'm cross shopping this and the GLS. The interior in the Q7 is a whole century better, also it has 4 wheel steering which is handy plus advanced driver aid. The GLS is a better looking car personally, the driver aid is as advanced as the Q7 but has worse interior but more cargo space and I'm not going to use the 3rd row of seat really often. Also I'm off roading casually and in the GLS if you opt for the off road package you get a low range and center diff lock which is really good. I've also been searching for off road reviews and found out that it has the same Transmission as the VW Amarok and I start to watch for VW Amarok automatic off road video and pretty damned surprised, and they say the lack of transfer case is not an issue because it has a low first gear and computer will adjust the rest. So what is your opinion? This is a tough choice for me

    • @DieselDrives
      @DieselDrives  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +RB26DETT If off road is serious to you, then you should consider low range. The Nissan Armada, Range Rover, and GLS are all massive but I have taken those odd road. The Range Rover provides the best ride. The GLS is better luxury (overall). The Nissan Armada is the US version of the Nissan Patrol. There is an upscale version Infiniti QX80 as well which is the same as the Nissan. I'd get a Range Rover if the 3rd row isn't necessary. The GLS would be my second choice.

    • @aryapradhanad186
      @aryapradhanad186 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Diesel Review Armada is waayy too thirsty although it has good performance and I don't live in the US but I would take Diesel anyday. Btw I'm getting a Rangie with the SDV8 (it's the V8 diesel here) and the pulling power is just immense. My friend bought the GLS 350d with off road package because we usually off road together and he is getting a Brabus power upgrade (it's just a chip tuning) but it bumps the power and efficiency in a huge margin now 305 hp and 700 NM from 258 hp and 620 NM
