  • With flounder season winding down I hit it hard this week. Not too many numbers but we found a few more good bites. Fished live mullet on Carolina rigs around the docks, jetty, and ocean.

    Reaction to personal best southern flounder was priceless. I've never seen you get that excited before, usually, you are calm, cool and collected. Great content. I like fishing with live bait.

    You handled that 1st dock flounder like the expert you are. I was in awe. I thought for a second that the netting was gonna be a problem but you cooly adjusted your approach and bagged that big girl. Man, you got the skills. And then that red at the dock. Jaw dropping effort. Completely cool and in control. Kudos to you.

    I like that you are not too proud to make a swap to the live mullet as of lately to get on the fish. It was funny how when the flounder season was out, you caught as many as you could stand and now that its in they wanna be finicky. Anyways, cheers as always - love the content

    • @MrJuansWorld
      @MrJuansWorld 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EliasVFishing That's my backup plan if the usual spot doesn't have flounder on it. We're getting to the point where Spanish are loading up inside the inlets, which is a blessing to us tiny boaters that have a two hour window after work.

    • @longislandangler6741
      @longislandangler6741 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      How do you locate mackeral ?

    • @MrJuansWorld
      @MrJuansWorld 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@longislandangler6741 Easiest for me this time of year is go bottom fish at the local inlet jetty, and keep a look out for birds diving. Found them last year on incoming tide at a spot (inside the inlet) where the depth goes from 25ft to 7ft pretty fast, like a baitfish funnel. After I found the spot via the birds, I could come back to that spot at the same tide, and the spanish were there just about every time, birds or not. Hope that helps.

    We definitely don’t catch the big huge flounder down in the Gulf of Mexico when I get to go down there but I have got on some 15-20 inches but it’s very rare. When the limit was 10 fish at 12 inches long we used to get several limits but never any big fish. The best I’ve ever done is a limit of 10 with the biggest being 22 1/2 inches and the smallest 13 and the rest were 14 to 16 inches.

    • @Bamapride1000
      @Bamapride1000 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t know about you there but down here I’ve noticed the reds have a lot better taste when the water cools down a bit. It’s so noticeable that I enjoy them as much as the flounder nearly when they come from cold water. Notice I said ALMOST lol. Nothing beats a good flounder or trigger fish imo

    • @EliasVFishing

      EliasVFishing I know you’ve said before you didn’t care that much for them and or one have to agree about summer time reds especially shallow water marsh reds in warm water but like you said cold water ocean reds are incredible eating.

    Just a question here, I watch your videos everyday and I love them, my question is because I'm getting ready to retire and I would love to be able to do what you're doing, in saying that being at rookie kayaker at 60 years old in good health mentally and physically I would like a recommendation of the best kayak with paddles and a trolling motor I hope you can answer this question, and keep up the good work because when I can't go fishing I always watch you and I'm very jealous ❤️🐸

    • @wilsonrawlin8547
      @wilsonrawlin8547 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Since no one answered you. I would check out at least 14ft long kayaks with trolling motor features built in. Trolling motor GPS Spot lock is a great feature as well. Sit in is the best vs sit on IMO. More storage space and drier. Get the best seat option and leg room you can find. IMO the most comfortable set up possible. Solid adjustable rod holders. Solid mount point for Nav/Fish finder. RAM mounts are awesome for rod holders and Nav mounts. Best possible storage space. If you want to fish open water a seaworthy hull that can handle rough water. Last but not least. Best balance when standing up and sitting. Also great floor space.
