Both years were, Hell on earth ! It was a ground blizzard in, central Il for weeks. We prayed for the plows to come by. It was bad. Very hard without power as well.
My high school roof collapsed, Yorktown High School...we missed at least a month, until the blocked off that corner and we finished the year in a High School with a corner of the building collapsed.

Lived in Hammond Indiana. I still remember the snow and the cold.
I remember this so well...lived thru it....we made forts and hills too...we shoveled snow for candy money lol
