Yes!! I always say that. I was born in the late 60s & grew up in the 70s/80s. The best 3 decades of music, period. We had so much incredible music across genres, it was on the radio then on MTV...just always good music coming out. It just seemed normal, we expected it to always be like that. Mid-90s was the turning point in my mind, just went downhill & now, ugh.

@@jenniferfoster1692 Jennifer, I say the same thing all the time; was blessed to be born in 1967 to young parents who played so much great music in the house, had my own radio by age 5, had the 70’s and 80’s as the soundtrack of my youth, and I agree; by the end of the 90’s, new music became unremarkable for me.

Michael McDonald is so damn smooth. He's a gentleman well respected by other musicians, women, and his friends. He's known for treating everyone with kindness. From singing with Steely Dan, the Doobie Brothers, Patti LaBelle, and solo work. An amazing vocalist and a better person.

  • @mitzifrancis9843

This guy "seems so familiar" because his voice is EVERYWHERE! Back up vocals for a gazillion Steely Dan songs, years as a lead singer for the Doobie Brothers, an extensive solo career, tons of duets and collaborations. He's one of my all time favorite singers. Some suggestions:
Takin it to the Streets, Minute by Minute, All is Fair in Love (Stevie Wonder cover), Blink of an Eye (it'll take you to church!), Higher Ground (another Stevie Wonder tune), What a Fool Believes (co-written with Kenny Loggins, and there's a fabulous live performance with both of them at the concert "Outside: From the Redwoods"), On My Own (duet with Patty Labelle), It Keeps You Running, Ya Mo Be There (duet with James Ingram), and......
Is the catalog worth a deeper dive? That's a 100% yes!

Biz, Michael McDonald was everywhere in the 70's and 80's and he sang backup for a lot of people in the industry. He was in Steely Dan and the Doobie Brothers plus had a solo career so it's hard to not run into him somewhere in fact he even helped write a song for Van Halen "I'll wait" so he has talent. His voice has been analized and other artists are shocked by the way a baritone can go into falcetto like he does with ease although he isn't the only one but you can't deny his voice is so smooth it's like melting butter running down warm pancakes. He also is very humble and unpretensous so people in the industry enjoy working with him in fact Thundercat did a song with him recently so check that out....love your reaction😊❤

5:05. Toto and Michael McDonald performed I'll Be Over You in 1984 (40 years 🎂 in 2024). Here, Steve Lukather on lead guitar 🎸 and the late Jeff Porcaro on drums 🥁 in 1982. They played in their band Toto for the album IV and played on the Thriller album for the late Michael Jackson. In 1982, members of Toto worked like a dog 🐕 L 🤣L

@@watchbizmatik I can't imagine how musicians write music out of their own head from scratch. Even though sampling has been around for a long time, people don't realize that it is using parts of another song, unless they have heard the sampled song before or after. Shouldn't a song stand on its own merit without using an original work from someone else? I feel that the original artist is not being recognized for their work.
