He was in Steely Dan and the Doobie Brothers plus had a solo career so it's hard to not run into him somewhere in fact he even helped write a song for Van Halen "I'll wait" so he has talent. His voice has been analized and other artists are shocked by the way a baritone can go into falcetto like he does with ease although he isn't the only one but you can't deny his voice is so smooth it's like melting butter running down warm pancakes. Even though sampling has been around for a long time, people don't realize that it is using parts of another song, unless they have heard the sampled song before or after. Shouldn't a song stand on its own merit without using an original work from someone else? I feel that the original artist is not being recognized for their work.
