  • Here I do a power steering flush. This is not considered a necessity, but I found that fresh fluid after 100k miles/ 10 years gave me like new response from my steering. This is also the procedure for if you replace any parts of your steering system and need to bleed the air out. BUT BE WARNED!!! IF ANY PART OF YOUR STEERING SYSTEM IS STARTING TO FAIL, THE INCREASED PRESSURE FROM THE NEW FLUID CAN MAKE IT WORSE OR COMPLETELY FAIL!!!!!
    PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Wow, I don't think the manual was ever brought into the U.S.A.

Thanks for being one of the few to try this very rare and mysterious product. Do you know if this can work on any of the mercedes steering systems? I have a 2010 e550 coupe. Also just curious but why can you only bleed the car with the engine off? I have seen numerous different styles but this is the first i've heard this. I already know my car is incredibly hard to bleed so I will give this a shot.

I'm pretty sure it's compatible with any steering rack, but don't quote me on that. It may not be needed for your model, my model it's used to combat a noise issue.
Once you get the engine running two things can happen to air in the PS system. First the pump will whip it up into a froth and that takes a long time to dissipate, second if a bubble is down in the rack the pressure can get it stuck there expanding and compressing making noise etc. This is why you can't let the reservoir run dry when flushing. Avoid getting any air in there.

@@DIYBenzGarage do you recommend running the car with the wheels in the air? Or only bleeding with the car off?

@@Dnasty1 You can run it with the front in the air. Just be careful not to put it in gear!!!!
