    I’m super excited to get my hell hound on the table, it looks like it will be a really fun unit. It wasn’t mentioned in the video but I do think there is a place for the heavy bolter on the hell hound. It’s long range can be useful to remove cover from a distance that the other weapons just can’t reach.

    I'm going to get this, put a dozer blade on it, and write "Burn Baby Burn!" on the dozer blade. Seems quite fitting for what this tank does. Great video!

    Sentinel pilot: it seems the enemy are hold up in those ruins ahead sir!
    Dakkadorn commander: Be a good man and unleash the hounds on them. I do so like a driven hunt.

    When you like the Inferno canno for fire dakka, want to blast a tank with that wonderful Melta cannon / gun, but also fight so many marine armies the Chem cannon is so hard to not take. I might have to finally magnet something.

    I don’t play guard but I’m super happy for all the guard players out there!

    I'd be fairly tempted to use a heavy bolter to try and "tag" distant, or even hidden units with the no cover debuff. It could pair very well with all the now very good guard artillery, since the debuff of indirect fire automatically giving covercant otherwise be ignored, only the hit penalty.

    • @wolfhunter98

      That's not a bad idea. Nice.

      It’s got to be the heavy bolter rather than the flamer for exactly this reason… so much tactical flexibility for removing cover from an enemy up to 36” away and then artillery can pound them to dust! Shatter their skies!

    I've been thinking of getting in to guard and love your excitement for them. I'd love for you to do a "starting with guard in 10th" type thing where you make recommendations on lists to run and what to buy.

    • @CommissarChannel
      @CommissarChannel 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I'm just getting into guard. 1 year after you.
      There are 2 general styles:
      1. Maximum infantry and swarms and resurrecting units like Tyranids, foot guard with combined detachment, necrons
      2. Big vehicles and big monsters
      You need to beat anything that comes in a tournament so you need to have good room clearing and also be able to take out big things or avoid them and take objectives, but if you pull a destroy monster card, it's nice to be able to do that and get your points.
      Large vehicles and characters cost less per point than infantry.
      For cheap newbie list that's also competent, I would think these are good picks:
      Rogal Dorn Tank Commander
      Gaunt's Ghosts
      Lord Solar
      Any infantry they're all good in some lineup but depends on your style
      If you go aggressive, get 1 hellhound and as many chimeras with infantry as you can with flamers and meltas and use them to screen for your larger tanks like Rogal Dorn with ablative plating. Block enemy in - generally keep 8" spacing so you won't get smashed by deepstrikers which are typically 9" - mordian calls it "wolf jail" when space wolves do it. Bring aquilons and scions. Officers can order when they're set up or disembark so Gaunt is very strong to order your deepstrikers. Hit from the front and the back. Use overwatch and Tank Shock. When a tank is going to die, it can have deadly demise. If it's in your lines, you take damage. If it's near enemies, the enemies take damage. Charge in and hit with tank shock and tracks and blow up.
      Here's a sample lineup
      1 Hellhound 125
      5 Chimera with 10x infantry 750
      2 Rogal Tc 530
      1 Rogal 240
      1 Scions 120
      1765 pts-235 pts for officers, enhancements or whatever else you want to add
      New mechanised detachment allows infantry officers to order transports excluding titanic at infinite range so an embarked Ursula can order 3 chimeras to move move move but if you're running catachans they lose scout if Ursula is attached.
      If you want a more chilling play, bring tech priest enginseers to repair your tanks and use tank columns and shield units while they retreat. Baneblades give cover as their ability. Use artillery and Solar and hit from safety. Use Death Korps with medipacks to bring units back.

  • @CommissarChannel
    @CommissarChannel 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Dude, Hellhound is amazing as an artillery support tank, as well as a screening and overwatch tank. You can also use tank shock and deadly demise to your benefit. It's a super aggressive unit now and well worth its cost for certain lineups.

    What timing for this video. I just pulled both my hellhounds off the shelf yesterday. Going to run two of them advancing up the board to burn units out of cover followed by 60 infantry. Two hellhounds in my opponents face should keep him distracted enough to keep my three scout sentinels alive to spot for my artillery.

  • @a.cameron207
    @a.cameron207 ปีที่แล้ว

    I was quite excited for the flush them out rule, and I hadn't figured out that it applied to every weapon on the tank!

  • @Douglas-nt7jd
    @Douglas-nt7jd ปีที่แล้ว

    This paired with a certain Leman Russ will make that AP2 on top of ignoring cover. So in a way it acts like AP3. With decent strength this thing is quite good

  • @franpschorr3646
    @franpschorr3646 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I think something people might sleep on is how good this will be in Gene stealer cults. I haven’t looked at their whole index yet but if they don’t have easy access to ignore cover for their hoards, this will be it. The Lemon Russ with the +1AP only works for Guard units but this should work with anything. With how easy it is to get cover this is almost just as good.

    • @keyanklupacs6333
      @keyanklupacs6333 ปีที่แล้ว

      The thing is though we don't really struggle to deal with hordes. We struggle to deal with heavy armour and monsters. If stuff like our arty was a bit higher strength to wound on 4+ or 5+ on tanks that would be nice.

    • @franpschorr3646
      @franpschorr3646 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@keyanklupacs6333 Yeah but I'm saying that this is good for that. Take the most anti elite gun on it, and then your hoard of low str low AP shots will be hitting at +1AP assuming a few things. And it still boosts all your heavy weapons too. It's cheap so it doesn't fill up to much of your BroodBrother points and it adds some decent tank bulk to your army which a lot of genestealer cult armies can use.

    Got one at end of 9th just too paint. Now it feels great playing. Magnetised and tryed several builds. Best so far I think is chem. Will try to go chem/Hb to remove cover with good range

  • @meccevil321
    @meccevil321 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think I'd favor the heavy bolter on the hull. Not to do damage but to give it a 36" range for FLUSH THEM OUT.
    Also remember that the Hunter-killer is an auto-include because points, and Flush them out applies to it, too.

    So glad I got into guard as my 10th edition army (krieg) and I gotta say I’m enjoying the WW1 inspired tactics of hellhounds and scout sentinels with artillery!

  • @colonelsanders82

    I am bringing one of these as well as a Leman Russ Exterminator. Their abilities are kind of similar, so if I lose one the other could pick up the slack some. Not to mention they are both tough, and the Hellhound is kind of a bargain price wise...

  • @DJCallidus
    @DJCallidus ปีที่แล้ว

    Im wondering if the Banewolf variant will be helpful deaing with Marine Scout Snipers.
    Their *Lone Operative* rule means even artillery can't target them and they can mince through our character blocks.
    It that or Scions maybe.

  • @Voidlessghost
    @Voidlessghost ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I like the hellhound I have two. One with an inferno cannon and one with a Chem cannon both have a multi melt on the front. The third one I plan to get will get the melt cannon and a heavy flamer on the front. You just need to hit the enemy. So to me it's more of a support tank for small arms infantry. Even for your scions and kasirkin to be more deadly. I Feel guard has more of a combined arms feel to me now.

    Not gonna lie, T10 and S2+ makes me jealous; most space marine Rhino pattern vehicles don't get that!

    Do t forget that the anti key word ignores saves, which means you actually mortal wound on 2s against infantry.

    • @Shazbo77
      @Shazbo77 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Anti X doesn't ignore saves, it just makes wounds rolls above X into successful critical wounds, not mortals wounds.

    • @GonthorianTheBrave
      @GonthorianTheBrave ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Shazbo77 yes but under critical wounds, as per devastating wounds, you take mortal wounds, which is the same wordage of anti, Check it, page 28 10th ed, bottom subtext, unless I’m interpreting it wrong, but doesn’t seem so

    Hey Mordian!
    Thank you for the video 😄
    About the Chem canon:
    it has Anti Infantry 2+. So it doesn't matter what AP you have.
    It ignores armor and invu saves and does the flat damage two.
    Unless I am the one who got this wrong?

    • @TimothyNiederriter
      @TimothyNiederriter ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Just a bit off. The chem cannon would work as you suggest if it also had Devastating wounds, but it looks like it doesn't.

    • @dxpsumma383
      @dxpsumma383 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Anti-Infantry 2+ causes a critical wound, unfortunately, these only turn into MW with the "devastating wounds" keyword. Otherwise, it's only an automatic wound

    This is baseless slander. The hellhond was always great. The first time I have ever heard of Gullimane being fielded he was burnt to death after destroying a distraction hellhound in melee.
    Is that not a golden image to hold in your mind?

  • @lMrJackl
    @lMrJackl ปีที่แล้ว

    Honestly dissapointing, I think the weapons are too weak still. Especially the melta cannon, too swingy and unreliable.
