I always wonder why old/retro colorized photos don't look realistic at all. There must be a way to do it right. For example, take any old photo and colorize it with this or any method, it won't look like a modern photo at all.
I have some ideas why, probably because the quality of those photos is a lot worse, i mean exposure and maybe some other details that have nothing to do with color...
Even in this video, its a modern photo, but still it looks like there was a filter applied, skin and hair is like one color. Not like in real life. Its tricky to make it look natural. Its not just 1 color for the hair and so on, but a lot more shades.
