The tournament takes place for the 141st time and is the fourth and final Grand Slam of the year. Dominic Thiem is the men’s singles defending champion but has withdrawn following an injury. Naomi Osaka is the women’s singles defending champion and will be aiming to claim the title for the third time in four years. Meanwhile, No. 1 seed Novak Djokovic looks to complete the calendar Grand Slam after winning the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon already this year. Should the Serbian lift the title here for the fifth time, he will also overtake Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal to become the first-ever man to win 21 Grand Slam singles titles. With full capacity crowds back again, it’s time for the greatest return!

Tsitsipas is so gracious in defeat. No mudslinging, no excuses, just total class. Looking forward to seeing him win slams in the future! New Yorkers will find another villain to jeer ... b/c I guess that's what New Yorkers seem to do at the US Open - Medvedev 2019, Djokovic in the 2000s, etc... etc... The fact that Tsitsipas has to answer this many questions about bathroom breaks has been ridiculous and really high school. I applaud him for taking the higher ground.

Wow that is a brutally honest and incredibly analytic interview right after a painful loss. I wasn't big fan of this guy but I'm impressed, to be honest.
Stephanos speaks always honestly!
He’s quite the insightful guy. He might do things a little differently and the media likes to really blow some stuff out of proportion but he’s not a bad guy.
I think I have changed my mind about Stefanos, he is very composed and mature from this interview. This will serve him well to become a champion like Djokovic.

His answer to the final question was 100% accurate
It’s refreshing to see someone be bold about reality and careless as to what others think. Cudos.

Yeah I mean his constant toilet breaks are pretty pathetic though

@@DGismeraESP he shows that he doesn’t care what they think with his actions though, not so much with him just claiming that he doesn’t care.

Before all the comments about him cheating by taking long bathroom break in 1st round, can we just actually admit he's a very talented young tennis player. Clearly Stephanos was stunned by this upset and literally in a state of shock. Seeing someone come back from a 6-0 in the 4th set and and win would shock anyone. Respect that he kept it real . Carlos has an amazing future ahead and with GOAT potential.
6-0 was just a set for him to relax and reset. Carreno busta did the same thing against shapavlov
Too many players had that potential just a few of them achieved that
The crowd put him off, disgusting mentality, if Federer had done this, after being down against Djokovic, and managed to win the match, after an 8 minute toilet break or MTO, they would have been singing gospel songs, but when Murray complains, everyone hates the other opponent, poor Stef, I hope he recovers mentally.
@@pauljohnson6019 Djoker is a mental giant and uses the insults to his advantage. Tsissy needs to man up a bit and learn to deal with a large crowd otherwise he will never reach GOAT status.

Stefano is such a great player. The most beautiful tennis nowadays. It is not always who wins that matters most. It is like the 3 bigs, Novak is the best in terms of palmarès, Rafa is amazing how he never ever gives up, and Roger, I think I would appreciate to see him play even when he will be 100 years old, if I am still around. Each top player brings something special to this sport and I am sure Stefano is one of those people will remember. Pete and Andre were of that kind as were Bjorn, John, Jimmy, Ilie.... And so many others, but not all of them are of that kind
Very mature and respectful interview by Stefanos. I was one of those people who didn't understand and after hearing Opelka talk about it as well, will apologize to Stefanos for thinking he was cheating. Overall he showed a lot of maturity and respect for alcaraz.

Tsitsipas proving once again he's by far the best player on the tour
Nothing can stop him not even the worst crowd us open has ever produced and the spaniard playing the match of his life.
what a year by the young Greek
Let little boys be jealous and you keep winning the slams
I feel so badly for the all of the criticism he is being subjected to for the bathroom breaks. Every player has their own needs, and many players take forever to serve, which actually DOES break a rule, AND breaks the opponent's rhythm but no one complains about them. There is no rule, except an "unwritten" one about the time limit for a bathroom break, so how do you know where to draw the line before it is considered disrespectful?? He is right in saying that people don't understand the physical demands on court and he is just doing his thing to be comfortable to play. He is an amazingly talented. and engaging player and we need players like him in this era of the inevitable retirement of the two GOATS Roger and Rafa (LOVE him, but people, come on: talk about taking extra time!!). The match was mesmerizing and Alcatraz is obviously a player we will be excited to watch in the new era, but booing Stefanos was beyond rude. Give him a fricking break and appreciate what you are watching!!
No mate he does it clearly as tactics and his bathroom breaks are pathetic; the one against Murray especially. The lactic acids in your legs would start kicking in. Great player, bad sportsman.
hes saying that to make it seem like he didnt get coaching or take the long bathroom break to throw off his opponents rhythm. and your comment about the serve, the player goes automatically to the second serve if they take too long- so there are actually consequences. nobody complains because the consequences are fair-
Stefanos is an amazing talented player whose game is so watchable. The crowd's behaviour was abominable.. heckling him, celebrating his DFs etc.. Stefanos handled it admirably but I'm sure it affected his game to some degree. Shame on them and shame on the pettiness of Murray on court, then resorting again to insults on Twitter - he's always been a whiner but he's really shown his true colours big time.. lacking class and grace in defeat. Also, Zverev should take back his slanderous accusation. I've lost total respect for their deplorable bullying/slander ! .. Stefanos to me comes across as a very honest young man, a little in his 'own world'. I hope he bounces back mentally. His game is there.
It’s impressive how humble and nice he is after loosing. Murray is making a lot of noice after he lost.. soo immature
Your mom was immature when she decided to have you

The way Steph handled this interview has turned me from a non fan to a fan. Osaka could learn something from him. Losing a match means nothing in the big picture of life.

This tournament should be a wake up call for Tsitsipas. He's lost to a younger player, and also damaged his reputation. He's no longer the new kid on the block - he's got to start getting it together better. That also applies to many of his losses when he's lost from winning positions because he lost it mentally. There's still something of the child about him at times.

Not the best match from Stefanos, defentley he's not playing his best tennis at that time, needs reconsider some things,or probably take a rest and new coaching.
Tsitsipas stil one of the best talents out there.
It is him not focusing the last month's not coaching issue not at all. He took break after fily loss, took break to mourn, and has not focused since, one time the talk on vaccines with media and politicians, the other time the players and crowd discussing about and him answering about changing clothes, while already not focused before.
Yes stef has a right point about there's no rule for a specific time duration for toilet break and there are many players take longer time to serve.
I think I'll take my intuition and a long list of players who have mentioned his behavior as being in need of adjustment over your super-fan opinion. It's not wise to encourage the wrong thing with a form of petty legalism. I also have the freedom to insult you but that doesn't make it right. Djokovic as well. Djokovic only got his consistency at the age of 23, although, and that is important, Djokovic won his first Grand Slam at 20, still before turned 21, that’s the difference. Tsitsipas only needs win his first GS, in order to know he can win others. The first GS it’s hugely important, and that first GS won by Novak in 2008 was what gave him consciousness of his true potential.

I am a big Tsitsipas fan. To me other players got too involved in this issue, I am talking about players of both sexes who were not directly involved. The truth is that players do take more time than allowed at different stages of a match. The level of group complain against this young man is unprecedented. I think that like the finals in Australia, this got to him a little and we lost a great talent moving forward to the finals. By the way, love that one-handed backhand.
Zrevev put it out there, snidely. The same man who is an ongoing headache for the ATP with his unresolved abuse issue. You would think he would the presence of mind to just take the win, over a rival who has the better H2H, and be content with that.
And I think Murray's sore loser response made many lose respect for the Scot. He is a veteran and a GS winner. Imagine a veteran trying to take him down early in his career. His attack on Tsitsipas was ungentlemanly and unnecessarily personal.
To cast a shadow on someone's whole career because you lost - bs. I cannot imagine Federer, or Nadal or even Djoker making a statement like that!!!!!

I know recent days are not so friendly to Stef, and this must have influenced his performance although he denied that in his last conference. Honestly, Stef'd better reflect on his behaviours because some players including his opponents did complain about his long time bathroom break. I repeat again.
He will take over. And if no serious injuries, he will do 25+ GS. Easily.
There is no one to match him.
Golden era is finished and there were the Big 3...
Now the big 3 are:
Alcaraz
Alcaraz
Alcaraz.
Not just because of this win...
As I just said before. As soon as I saw him for first time like 1 year ago, I knew it. The kid is pure genius, strength, determination. Pure spanish blood. Hot.
I'm looking forward for a Booker to accept 100/1 long term bet that he will win 20+ GS. Lol.
Lol zverev and him are suppose to team UP together, for the laver cup..this gonna be drama🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂
And Medvedev 😂
Zverev should already be suspended due to the allegations - in US sports he would be by now.
Medvedev and Tsitsipas in the same team. This is going to be fun 😂😂😂
@@AllieB-11.11 nothing has been openly proven idc what excuse you have allegations remain alleged until proven
Thank you US OPEN Media for all the videos. It will be better if the Highlight of matches are more longer (2.49 sec) than the press conf.
Let some see different characters between Stef and Andy after defeat.
Not trying to justify the whole runts from Andy, but he has right to complain about the extensive bathroom. Literally no one ever took so long bathroom break consistently. Did he get coaching during those breaks, we never know, but it's questionable.
@@robmarth2226 andy is a sore loser hahaha, sorry but after that declarations ive no respect for him anymore
@@oksatoki 100% I even lost more respect for Andy tbh… yes what Tsitsipas did was questionable buh tbf he played within the rules and some players do this as well (obviously not as much as Tsitsipas ) buh after losing RG in the manner he did . It’s kinda obvious he’s trying to learn from Nole in that department (because tbh tennis is about winning , be smart use things to your advantage…no matter how bad that sounds )… Buh Andy going to Twitter the next day and the day after it’s just so petty especially from a 30 year old person
@@wearemoving9572 Totally agree, tho i liked andy a lot cuz his resilience, bouncing back after the injuries etc, always wanted him to win, but if he is not respecting other players, i wont respect him
@@oksatoki Completelyyyy trueee
We love 💕 you Stephanos
TSITSIPAS IS THE GREATEST EVER, MOST SKILLED -- IN CHEATING
It was a crazy match, respect to both players, the youngster just wanted it more).
Yes in the last few points we could see that Tsitsipas was done and just gave him the points
All the idiots trashing Stef for his "bathroom breaks," also need to be calling out Djokovic for doing the same thing 3 different times during the French Open. Each time Novak was down by one or two sets to love, and he came back to dominate. In the quarters, then against Nadal, and then against Stef in the final. In fact, I only saw Stef start doing this AFTER Novak did it to him during the RG final.
Stefanos started doing it after Djokovic did it against him in Roland Garros final, but still not at the same extense as other players use to do it. Still all the hate comes to Stefanos now. It's fine though. Situations like these make people stronger.
I think the problem isn't to go to the bathroom. The problem is to go the bathroom and stay a lot of time! Stef is doing what is normal for all players. The question is: " Do you need to stay for so long? "
@@jiorjis1ael absolutly agree
I dislike how many of these questions are about Carlos instead of about himself. He handled the interview well nonetheless
Stef stay calm and keep walking, we come 1!
Maybe needs to look at his coaching team
Father and Mourataglou both come across as arrogant individuals
It doesn’t help him
Possibly needs to hear a different voice
honestly every time the camera shows his father I close my eyes. I can't stand this greek arrogance mixed with misery in his face.
@@jiorjis1ael what do you mean by "greek arrogance" ? Do you still have this cliché of greeks only because of their thousands years away history ?
30 seconds and 12 minutes are big time difference in a tennis game
Nope , beetween serves the 30seconds are more important than the 8 minutes beetween sets. If you ever played tennis you'd know
@@TMPOUZI yes people never played tennis just booing him sitting in their bed eating chips and fries not even want to go to the living room judging people who are training since the age of 4 amd playing matches of 4-5 hours.. thats completely illogical to me
The press, some players, the f*cking NY crowd: everyone was out to get him. They force him into this villain position that he clearly does not deserve. They do the same thing with Djokovic, when all theyre doing is playing their game and staying focused. He knows its a match he shouldve won because he won it 2x in the third set but he let it slip out of his hands. He needs to tidy his mind and collect the pieces that are still loose after the roland garros final. Im sure he can do it, he is a magnificent tennis player and a very diplomatic personality. He speaks very directly but doesnt disprespect anyone. Those are the characteristics of a future champion. His time will come, im sure of it. 🤍💙
Totally agree - Tsitsipas is a true sportsman .
Stefanos is far from cheating level of Djokovic though 😘
@@tombutc i think thats a double standard. I truly believe that Nole isnt trying to pull any shenanigans either. He doesnt have to, he has the tennis to do the things he does.
@@cherrylipsgo You´re not following tennis for too long do you? Stefanos was accused in emotional rant of one angry player who just lost to him. Another player who lost to him recently joined the witch hunt. Suddenly it became stylish to report blatter issues of stefanos. He needs to use toilet for crist sake, he is a human! Its very far from Djokovic´s long history of faking injuries etc.
@@tombutc LOL what... Zverev started mentioning it after Cincinatti, where he beat Tsitsipas... check your facts man.
Didnt like Tsitsipas at first. But after this shitstorm about toilet breaks im starting to like the guy and the way he handles it. Murray should apoligize for being a bad sport
Carlos is GREAT
People don't like him because he toiletly defeated Andy , they like him because he lost to Novak . Actually I understand him though about fans , fans are unpredictable , they are zombies , brainwashed and lousy followers .
If he starts to be a little more humble then people are going to start leaning towards him. To arrogant for many.
He is what he is.
If you grew up around people with this bad attitude and disrespect for others and like them to be a role model, so be it. For my children I do not choose a rude, obnoxious player as role model.
Not true. Many of us really want to root for him, but with his attitude it's really hard. And instead of addressing it and maybe changing, he's doubling down on it. Still an amazing player and I wish him success, but can't really cheer for him like this.
@@danielscotti9471 *Too arrogant
toiletly
What a disrespectful crowd the us open crowd was against Stef cheering like crazy when he missed a point during Alcaraz games. All this was started by Zverev who accused him without any proof while he himself is being accused for domestic violence what a joke. At first I thought maybe Zverev is right , then Stef dropped the bag only took his clothes , took 7 mins got fairly time violation and then even in this match after all the accusations took 3 mins on toilet break so he's clearly trying to improve himself while sore losers like Andy is still whining and creating all this hate against him and the Us Open crowd going against him making him lose. I hope karma gets to Zverev and his proven guilty for domestic violence and loses his next match. For Andy I lost respect and now I have more respect for Stef as he already cleaned up his act after the accusations and dealing with his loss in a mature way.
Strong minded person 💪🏽
How many times Brooksby change T-shirt in the last game ? ( 4) I think no problem ,so for the same thing why you put up with Tsitsipas ?
Sorry💚 Stefanos 😪 like he said..today was supposed to be his match win. Sounds like he underestimated his opponent and paid the price for it. Ruthless journalists, loser is in pain and then to ask more questions about Alcaraz 😳
If I was the journalist : You think you could've won if you would've taken one more bathroom break?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
