    Dam....so much more involved than I ever imagined. No big lips for me but I get the gist of it. 19x8.5 opal oversteers coming for my '18 A4. Gonna be awesome.

    Why did many classic race cars (70s and 80s) have large lips on their wheels if they weren't practical? Many touring cars, le mans prototypes and f1 cars had very deep dished wheels.
    I heard something about it being because rack and pinion steering wasn't used back then but I don't really understand

      prototypes and f1 are not relatable to street cars. those racecars where built to a spec and used wheels to meet that spec; not silly street wheels. A dedicated (custom) race wheel is very different from a street wheel.

    Dont know if you will answser but. I got a setup with antera 309, and the lips are pretty bad. but what i can see its like the lip is just inserted with glue. do you know if its replaceble? or can i still use the wheel if i remive them?

      Unfortunately, that’s not one of our wheels so we can’t give you all of the answers you’re looking for. However, it’s most likely a stainless steel lip. When those were used, they are essentially glued on and crimped to the actual casted wheel lip. There are services out there that can refurbish them. But I would doubt there would be a replacement you can purchase. Talk to a good wheel refurbisher. Good luck!

    Here I thought it was the inner barrel that you had to worry about for your caliper

    Regarding lips, how best to protect it?

    • @konigwheels
      @konigwheels  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Just as you would the rest of the wheel. Keep them clean, use a non-acidic car wash soap to clean them, and look into a ceramic coat for your wheels. Also... and most important... DON'T CURB YOUR WHEELS.

      @@ianbradley2153 It's metal, so if the lip is damaged, it's certainly not an easy fix. You may be able to find a wheel and tire professional who can assist in repairing, however- the best defense to curbing is taking extra precaution.

    Have a big lip and adjust your rim diameter and offset/backspacing. 🤷🏻‍♂️
