What a great time it was growing up in Buffalo seeing Billy in the Buffalo clubs with Talas. Billy was a genuine and humble guy back then and nothing has changed!

I grew up in L.A. and Racer X was the band to see in the 80s. I must have seen them ten times between in '86 and '88. Then Paul left for Mr. Big and Scott Travis left for Priest, Jeff Martin, the vocalist, went back to drums and played in Badlands, Bruce Bouillet and John Alderete joined The Scream with future (albeit temporary) Crue singer John Corabi. I've never seen Billy live to this day but if he tours with Winery Dogs, Mr. Big or any other group in L.A. I'll definitely see him. Amazing bassist.

Really don't think I could have higher admiration for Billy. Supremely talented but, just as importantly, supremely humble and aware. I honestly can't think of a time he has ever had a bad word to say about anyone. He is a massive inspiration as a musician and as a person.

I have the guitar world pullout poster of that p bass and he signed it after a Mr Big show. He kinda lit up when he saw it and talked to me about it for about 5 minutes. I finally framed it a couple years ago. I'll never forget how nice he was with that. Billy Rules!

I met Billy many years ago and he was as cool and nice that you hoped he would be. He had just done a clinic and was hanging out. Talked a lot about Mr. Big they were just brand new and he was really pumped about it. I’m a guitarist and like so many others an Eddie disciple, so we bonded in that regard. He showed me some really slick moves that were very Eddie like. Billy is a huge Eddie fan (as you find in this great chat with him 👍🏻👏🏻) I was beside myself. I’ll always enjoy that memory. Many years later I had posted a song I was working on literally from my couch and I get a like from Billy. That was for me like the first encouragement that he held onto from Ed.
Thanks for this great time with Billy, it is filled with some great stories. Billy pretty much reigns supreme on his instrument in my book, along with the late John Entwistle and John Paul Jones.
I did get my few minutes with Eddie around the time Cherone came into the VH camp. Eddie was excited and playing like a beast. He was using metal picks and had like 3 or 4 of them. I was commenting on them because he was excited about them. He told me I’d love to give you one, but I’ve got to go to Japan and I’m afraid I’ll lose the others. Lol I was like no worries lol He gave me some picks and a smoke. I was a happy camper. God bless you Eddie, you were the king of everything guitar, you changed the way the instrument is played in so many ways. I truly don’t believe anyone will ever eclipse what you did. Rest In Peace my brother. 🙏 🎸 😇

One time he threw his bass guitar up and it got stuck in the ceiling....he just pulled it out and kept on jamming like it was part of the show! Also met him in a bowling alley a day before the show when he was in D.L.R.'s band!

Billy, you made me NERVOUS on this one: I was gettin' REAL pissed and disappointed, following the Mr. Big segment with no mention of dear Pat. I was SHOCKED, for being SO INCREDIBLY moved by how you guys, as true brothers, did your last year + together...only second to how proud I was, and am, of Pat; WHAT A MODEL he was for us! I'm glad that I kept watching, and saw you truly, properly acknowledge him. I'm tearing up right now, as I miss him so much; he IS a m a j o r, MAJOR influence on me....forever, as are YOU, Billy, so I'm glad I can breathe a sigh of relief, and not be mad at you anymore, hahahaha!

Billy day in Buffalo. What was so difficult to understand. You made it, finally, after all your years of hard work and DLR couldn’t handle it. Maybe it’s me but I like to see people happy. I would have been happy for you. Now, after 30 plus years of wondering why DLR, broke up the best band ever put together.
