He is so genuine. Telling us all the secrets to the rig like how not every cab is on and how his sound is mainly through the PA systems now. I have been running direct for years and never use a amp or cab live before and its cool that Billy is starting to do that also.
Great rig rundown and interview, Erik! For anyone leaving negative comments, I've spoken with Billy numerous times and it's hard not to be excited especially when you're playing a lot of the same gear as him, learning from his years of experience and considering him as a major influence in your playing. Love and support! Rock on!
Ah Billy Sheehan is great - not only a spectacular bassist but always comes across as such a nice person too. I don't play bass, but I enjoyed watching this!
Great rundown. Billy is such a nice guy. Love seeing his latest and greatest gear, etc. and the rig sounded phenomenal in Austin back in March. To me it was his best live tone so far. Great clarity, and grind. The new system works well, indeed.
Thanks for posting Erik. I caught up with Billy recently at the Winery Dogs show at KK's Steelmill in Wolverhampton UK. Best wishes my friend. P.s Next stop MR Big March 2024.
Hey Erik👍🏾👍🏾🔥🤘🏾This is amazing 😊😎🔥👍🏾! An awesome view into Billy‘s Setup👍🏾😊! Very cool Video , I could spend Hours by watching this! Billy is such a gentle Person 👍🏾😊, answering your professional questions and he had really fun doing this 😊👍🏾‘ I saw him with the winery dog twice in Germany 😢earlier this year , it was amazing! Looking forward to see him again with Mr. Big in 2024! He is the greatest Influence & Inspiration to me🔥👍🏾! I also hope to meet you again soon, Eric ! Stay save and healthy! Greets from Germany!
Another awesome video! You are always a great speaker but you can hear the nervousness in your voice 😅. Billy is a hero to all of us so it must of been pretty surreal. Always a great dude.
Amazing Erik !! I'm really surprised how technology advances and helps the music... I thought I would never see Sheehan sending his line over FOH... and just use the FX Return of the heads .... amazing work of Line 6 !
Yeah, that speaks to how great the Helix is - and how much of a gear head and innovative fellow Billy is! 70 years old and still learning and developing!
@@erikarko That's true, he could continue with his original Pearce BC1 and still used the mic in the cab of highs like he always did.... but no... he decided to continue researching and developing new things for himself and for all of us.... where we love his tone !.. again .. nice job erik ! thx !!
Hey Erik, were you able to know what amp, cab and microphone he is simulating now that he's going DI? Maybe there are two different stuff, one for each signal.
I like Billy Sheehan and it's interesting to hear how he keeps the onstage level down for the FOH engineers sake, because I was at The Winery Dogs gig in Glasgow a couple of weeks ago and the FOH was pretty awful. It wasn't particularly loud, just mushy and unclear with indistinct vocals. I'm sure it sounded epic in their IEMs. They need to have a chat with their FOH engineer, I think he may be deaf.
In Stockholm the FOH sound was AMAZING! Best sound I’ve heard at that venue tbh 😳 Drums were clear and not boomy at all - and the vocals were loud and clear! Maybe it was the PA in Glasgow?
Billy is great thanks for sharing this. Erik please talk less and stop “yessing” everything like you know it all at just let your interviewee speak ffs
@@erikarko Don't sweat it, Erik. I'd be nervous too if Billy were talking to me. You did great: personable and open, clearly keeping the communication going. If you start overthinking things ("Am I 'yesing' everything?" "Am I saying, 'Exactly' too much?") you'll torpedo yourself. Which it say, you did wonderfully. The proof is in the pudding, and your pudding ended up a thick and creamy, low-frequency masterpiece of revelatory bass-gear insight!

Agree!! He’s great!!
Yeah when you need some volume on stage it’s great but the direct signal makes the FOH happy lol feels better on stage
Billy Sheehan seems like such a cool dude. Seems genuine. Such a great instrumentalist
He’s great!!
This is amazing Erik!!
They say never meet your heroes - except for when Billy friggin' Sheehan is your hero!
Thanks!! Totally agree - Billy’s the best!!
Number 1, absolutely!
Yes!!
Billy is always in the mood to share! Thank you guys!
It was a lot of fun to get to catch up with him!

Haha yeah, the whole setup had me a wee bit stressed out (making sure that everything was rolling, that I didn’t take too much of his time etc.) 😅
nice

The GOAT!!
12:15 - someone stood on my connector and broke it, I made a wooden block that the connector now sits in to keep it all flush.
:)
Smart!!

👍👍👍
Awesome interview!!! I was wondering what those 2 buttons were for…. Very EVH :-)
Thanks!! Yeah, pretty cool stuff!!
MorningStar is good stuff. Surprised to hear he is using them. Being able to edit in the computer makes life easy
Indeed it is! Very cool!
Did Billy ever share his preset? Would be interesting to see how he puts one together.
Not yet!
Hey Erik, were you able to know what amp, cab and microphone he is simulating now that he's going DI?
Maybe there are two different stuff, one for each signal.
He’s just adding an EQ-block at the end of the chain to each channel (most likely just a low and high cut) :)
@@erikarko Cool, thanks man! 🍻
wait I'm a little confused... so does his both output from bass goes into single helix? I thought helix only had one guitar in channel
Nope, that’s on the LT (on which you’ll have to use one of the FX Returns) the Helix floor has an AUX-input that you can use as well :)
@@erikarkooh that's cool, never realized that. Been a huge Billy Sheehan fan over years, thanks for the interview

Screen saver 🤦🏽♂️, very cool rundown Sir
😂😂😂
Yeh. The Cat Club. 1989. Mr Big. I stood right in front of Billy. My ears didn’t just ring for a week. The FUCKIN OSCILLATED.
I stood up for the very first time in 1989. Just as reference 😂😂😂
