    I always shop physical.. Don't have to worry about recieving damaged manga etc. And It also supports local stores and let's them know manga sells and encourages them to stock more which in turn helps the hobby grow.. Also I'd like to hear your opinion on Rightstuf In about 6month to a year after this crunchyroll take over..

      I’m definitely waiting to see what will come out of this whole new Crunchyroll x RSA situation. Also, I rarely have damaged manga come in from RSA, so I don’t usually worry about situations like that.

    For me personally I love to go to physical retail stores. It something to do for fun and getting out of the house.
    I also just like to see the volumes of manga of shelves and see what news series I would like to try.I also do shops frequently online mostly manga that is oop. But with college coming back I might start only doing manga shopping to save some money mostly.

      I’m reversed in your situation. I look for out of print manga in person and get the usual, in print, manga online since I know it’ll be cheaper that way! But buying online to save will definitely be your best option!

    Most of my purchases are from physical retailers, and I definitely prefer to shop in person rather than online. While the selections are way better online, it can't match the atmosphere of going to a bookstore and finding something you may not have checked out otherwise. Plus, it's a good way to hang out with friends and touch grass.

    • @TheDarkSage
      @TheDarkSage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The only reason I would go to a physical store now would be to hang with friends but besides that, and used bookstores, I really don’t have a point to when I can get it cheaper elsewhere.

    online is the go-to for me, it helps that i don’t live anywhere near a barnes so online is pretty much my only option but it’s kinda fun to go once in a while to look at everything even though i know my wallet is going to take a hit, if i’m going to pay full price for manga i’d much rather support a small independent or local bookstore as well

  • @rarrieta789
    @rarrieta789 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I do a bit of both - shop online when the sales are good (especially for the berserk deluxe editions on Amazon) and take a trip to the local B&N on payday. I like doing physical more and there’s even a comic book store near me that has some dope gunpla, figures and manga. The convenience of shopping online is great but I try to make more of an effort to support the stores as well.

    I go to retailers when they have a good sale , like when I got the BAM card I got a 50 off 100 coupon and went during a buy 2 get the 3rd free sale and the cashier was chill and added the card coupon on top. I would say physical retailers are cool because you would probably get that very cool employees that would chat with you or let you know about upcoming sales.

    Biggest reason for why I stopped buying books in store is because the book retail prices adds up quickly especially places like barns and noble/books a million which is where I use to buy a lot of my manga during elementary and middle school. Once I discovered rightstuf and eBay where most mangas/anime Blu-ray’s be on sale or couple dollars cheaper makes all the difference.

    I only buy manga now when it’s on sale online. Instead of buying some each month I just place like 2,3,4 big orders in a year during summer and winter basically. No point in spending more in store than online even without a sale, especially when you collect so much stuff the way I do. I have well over 1,000 volumes. Even without a sale buy a 1,000 volumes at Barnes and Noble vs just on rightstuff no sale $2 difference each volume that’s a $2,000 difference. Add the sales on top of that and it’s much more of a difference. Online all the way

    • @TheDarkSage
      @TheDarkSage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Generally, I don’t pay shipping because I wait to buy enough where I hit the the free shipping minimum. Tax still doesn’t add enough to really make it the same price as buying in store for me either. I still pay less overall buying online strategically. And I hope that volume you bought was out of print and not just out of stock.

    I like to order online because of sales but I love going into a bookstore like 2nd and Charles. I live in the south and Barnes and noble is very limited on manga and whenever I go there's some old person looking at me in the manga section and saying "why is she reading kids books?" Not that it should bother me but yeah I stick with online mostly. If local bookstores offer more sales or something and a bigger selection then I most definitely prefer in person.

    I try to buy physical to support local comicbook stores. But it's really tough when you have to pay almost 12 dollars for a viz volume here (everything is import in the Netherlands). Prices go through the roof. So I am forced to buy online where prices are about 10,20 dollars for a viz volume.
